To put it simply, Google is not that attractive anymore. They are the IBM of our generation.
Yeah the coverage is maybe slightly worse and I'm sure that I get "deprioritized" but worth the 720$/year of savings.
I would even bet that most people issuing the cleaning guidance know that it is almost useless, but we live in a world in which it is more important for your actions to make you perceived the way you want rather than being effective.
What is happening is a compliance test. You are only tolerated if you agree and comply with the woke politics of the day.
