Maybe the interviewers bias resume selection to their own profiles. Because most people come from elite families, mostly people from elite families get interviewed.
oops, I meant GIL.
I work with scientific computing.
In my experience, the only justification I have of using other language (mostly C++) over python is to get over the interpreter lock, which over complicates your life if you want parallelisation. Multiprocessing is just awful, specially if you work with big chunks of data (I do mostly medical imaging).
PyPy, even if it's faster, still has the same GIL constraints as CPython, so not really a big advantage IMO.

Lol they do know how to sell their software xD. Thanks for link.
I'm not sure most gtx users doing hpc can be called "enthusiasts". After all, most research is done in these devices, and most models should therefore fit memory requirements (unless you're doing some hardcore - or lazy engineered research model) . Correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK the tesla cards are designed to fit regulated markets and are not mass produced like the geforces, therefore the elevated prices.
I still don't get it. Can't it be done in c++ via appropriate data structures? I mean, it's not like Go is magic, at the end I suppose Go would be doing just that. As far as I know the main reason people opt for Go over C++ are the compiling times...
I didn't understand why rust and go are natural alternatives to C. Wouldn't C++ be a more natural option? (Despite the fact that both go and rust are developed by third party companies)
This page is so cool, not only it gives tons of credit and visibility to developers but also motivates new people to contribute. We needed this kind of exposure in every open source project.
Isn't it 2 profiles of engineers? Those who make production code and those who work in prototypes?
One thing is to understand why your model isn't converging, another is how to scale it up...
Very true. Allow me to add the fact that it has been shown (via wikileaks) that Hillary and the DNC conspired in the primaries process, specially against Bernie Sanders, invalidating her even more in the final voting.
