I believe depression is a spectrum so although I'm not depressed, I'm also not not depressed.
Right now I'm in a good place and I accredit this to a few things I did this past week:
- attended multiple virtual events (2 chat-based, 1 video)
- caught up with 2 friends via phone/video call
- went apartment hunting yesterday. Going outside for first time in a week + general excitement of moving out & exploring a new frontier is motivating
I'm 23 and I know life is a struggle. If you're reading this and are around that age + care about exploring personal development and mental health + want to connect, hit me up! Twitter - @radiunhuq
Thanks for asking :)
EDIT:
[0] In case you haven't heard of SAD (seasonal affective disorder), check it out: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seasonal-affe...
I'm curious how Patrick does it though as his attention isn't exactly cheap
1) What's the process to integrate this into an existing application?
2) I'm curious about your choice of branding. Your website & logo looks really clean -- was there anything in particular you guys discussed when deciding on brand colors, design of logo, and overall look & feel of your product?
- Being able to programmatically control the contents of an INDIVIDUAL slide
- Being able to programmatically control the order of slides
With a robust API there are two uses cases I can think of off the top of my head:
- You're leading an all-hands meeting and talking about revenue. The slide is connected to your Stripe account via a webhook, so the revenue figure on screen is dynamic and updates in real time
- You're pitching an investor with the goal of convincing the investor to give you money, and you're recording the conversation in real time. The recording gets processed through some language processing system, and the system recognizes the context of the conversation. You're about to talk about your team, but the system thinks that perhaps a better strategy would be to talk about the market size. So, it automatically reorders to slides and makes the NEXT slide about the market size. You hit next, see the market size slide and then talk about it
I'm sure there's a million different creative use cases that we'll see in the future. I'm fairly optimistic that Pitch has a ton of potential to change the general presentation status quo from static presentations, to dynamic presentations
I think this will be really powerful for events. Imagine if you had ONE master slide deck that had:
- A slide for audience polling
- A slide for a zoom call with one of your speakers
- A slide that managed an icebreaker activity (like Kahoot)
- A slide that tracked merch sales in real time
- A slide with general analytics about your event (ie. how many registered attendees are actually in the room)
All you have to do is hit NEXT SLIDE
- Working on a team to build a tech solution
- Finite time restrictions
- Limited resources
- "demo day" at the end
all of which are present in this project in the context of album creation
Though I do agree with the sentiment of trying to be deliberate & accurate with word choice when describing things
I think the real value here is that a YC of music can fundamentally change the way the industry functions by:
- Allowing artists control over their masters/creations (equity)
- Reducing the barrier to entry to enter the music industry by providing upfront capital, and support (mentorship, music marketing & distribution)
- Concentrating talent in one area
Also if anyone is interested I'd recommend checking out this documentary by J. Cole's Dreamville[0] where a bunch of artists and producers came together in a house and built an album in 10 days (basically like a hackathon)
On one hand he's been in the industry long enough to understand the system; he's generally respected as an artist; he has a platform to reach the masses; he has a track record of being able to organically grow a collective (organization/business/product) from the ground up (Yeezy).
On the other hand, the music industry is huge and run by conglomerates. Going against the norm would truly be David vs. Goliath.
I think if anyone could do it, it would be Kanye (with a super savvy business partner). I think he has the conviction and general anti-status-quo mindset to embark & be successful in this endeavor

Not necessarily as insurance against a global pandemic, but rather due to the expansive reach that many event organizers are realizing.
I don't think offline events are going away, but (as the author alludes to) the incentives to attend online vs offline events are different; therefore it won't be a 1:1 experience. I don't think anyone in the event/event technology space actually figured out the secret formula to provide a great online AND offline experience for both the event organizer & attendees/vendors, but once someone does I think there's great opportunity to capture.
Thanks for sharing!
1) any illegal technicalities 2) is it a dick move to the website owner
