radial_symmetry··on Launch HN: Vespper (YC F24) – SOTA Docx MCP
I've built tools using the agent in https://github.com/eigenpal/docx-editor. I can use my existing AI and don't need to connect to an external service, plus it is open source. Why would I use your solution instead?
radial_symmetry··on Sonnet 5.5
Fable is no longer on the price/performance pareto frontier. They will probably release an updated Fable at some point that will be frontier intelligence until the next Opus.
radial_symmetry··on Best LLM for every budget, updated daily
The coding and math tabs seem to be missing the latest models...
radial_symmetry··on Heretic removes restrictions from language models
"They might not have enough of the knowledge to answer correctly"

Depends on the model. GPT-OSS is the main standout here, it was trained on a highly curated dataset so information that they didn't want in isn't in the pretraining at all. Most other models know the answer and were just taught refusal in post-training.

radial_symmetry··on Apple iPod Engraver (2019)
I wonder if he was hired into that role or if the role was created for him after it became clear it was his talent.
radial_symmetry··on Pentagon rescinds new testosterone screening policy without explanation
it absolutely does make you stronger, I was training for powerlifting when I started it and my lifts went up a LOT with no change in my routine or diet, both of which I was tracking.
radial_symmetry··on We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility
They are rare because nobody cares about them otherwise. Why is everyone acting as if they are trashing Gutenberg Bibles or first edition LOTR copies?
radial_symmetry··on Lovable raises $400M Series C
Synthetiq > Lovable if you actually want to get into production in any sort of real organization
radial_symmetry··on Passkeys were invented by engineers with zero understanding of consumer brain
oh good I thought it was just me who didn't understand them
radial_symmetry··on Mythologizing AI makes it more likely that we’ll fail to operate it well (2023)
What exactly would a 'non-stupid' person do to catch the latest models on a Turing Test? Aside from being aware of AI 'tells' like em-dashes.
radial_symmetry··on LM Studio Bionic: the AI agent for open models
You can do both
radial_symmetry··on I'm a USB-C Maximalist
So many kids toys use custom brick chargers, especially remote control cars. I refuse to buy anything that isn't USB-C, I'm not keeping track of all of those.
radial_symmetry··on A graph that should be front-page news
[flagged]
radial_symmetry··on Ask HN: What was your "oh shit" moment with GenAI?
Very early on, when Github Copilot was brand new and the first AI autocomplete that was in the IDE. I had a file TODO.txt, and was adding a line, and it suggested a next feature that demonstrated actual understanding of what my app was and its purpose, despite me not having documented that anywhere.
radial_symmetry··on Show HN: Open-source .docx editor library for building document apps
I had been having claude/openAI do web search for typescript docx libraries.
radial_symmetry··on Artificial intelligence is not conscious – Ted Chiang
If I were to come up with a perfect mathematical simulation of every atom in your brain and ran it on a GPU, what would that be? Can you say with certainty that the hard requirement for consciousness is a physical brain?

I don't know whether or not AI is conscious, but I am certain you don't either.

radial_symmetry··on Artificial intelligence is not conscious – Ted Chiang
How would engineers know? We don't even know what makes humans conscious
radial_symmetry··on Artificial intelligence is not conscious – Ted Chiang
We do not know if Claude is conscious, and we will almost certainly never know. Any strong claim either way is over confident.
radial_symmetry··on Creatine raises brain energy levels and slows cognitive decline: study
For lifting you hit a saturation point quickly where your muscles will only hold so much of it. Not sure if there is an equivalent for any brain related effects.
radial_symmetry··on Robinhood now lets your AI agents trade stocks
The humans can't either
radial_symmetry··on Sleep research led to a new sleep apnea drug
100% agree. I can cleanly divide my life into before and after treatment for sleep apnea, I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to feel awful and tired all the time.
radial_symmetry··on Show HN: Open-source .docx editor library for building document apps
Holy shit, this is exactly what I needed for a major client. The track changes specifically, and being able to do it from Typescript. You have no idea how happy you just made me.

Edit: Did you just make this repo public? Last week I was scouring the internet for something like this and couldn't find it.

radial_symmetry··on Show HN: Agent.email – sign up via curl, claim with a human OTP
As somebody who spent a lot of time trying to get an agent to register an email address, their assumptions were correct. It is a PITA.
radial_symmetry··on Bambu Lab is abusing the open source social contract
That's what homeowner's insurance is for. I often run my printer when I'm not home.
radial_symmetry··on Show HN: Nimbalyst open source Obsidian, Codex app, and Linear for coding agents
Iterating on plans with red/green on markdown makes my life much easier
radial_symmetry··on Claude Platform on AWS
Synthetiq offers self-hosted (local or in your cloud)
radial_symmetry··on Ask HN: We just had an actual UUID v4 collision...
Glad to be reading the comments here because I also had this happen to me once and thought I must have been going insane.
radial_symmetry··on Tesla Model Y Passes NHTSA's New 'Advanced Driver Assistance System' Tests
Are you on an extremely old version or something? I have had my model Y for 5 years and it only phantom braked once ever.
radial_symmetry··on Show HN: Git for AI Agents
This is brilliant. Does it only work with Claude right now? Will it work with any agent built on the Claude Agent SDK?
radial_symmetry··on Why most product tours get skipped
Honestly makes sense. For our app there are different actions a user might want to take first so having a checklist instead of forcing an order is better.
