It's kind of the opposite of a libertarian dream.
And I'm frustrated because I haven't trusted my government or these companies to be responsible with that data even before it was glaringly obvious they wouldn't. So now here we are in the "I told you so" phase, and it just sucks how much of this data is already out there, ripe for misuse. And now it's just too late.
It'll be way too late by then, but at least you'll get it.
If you're interested and want to drop a way to contact you, I'll figure out a way to ship it to you. Otherwise, as much as I loathe sending you to Facebook, the local "buy nothing" groups another commentor recommended sounds like a good place to start.
Good luck!
The current government is exhausting. That's the point. It's so frustrating hearing people complain instead of taking action. Things are harder for everyone, a lot of people here have lived too many decades without any real form of struggle and it shows in the things they complain about & how they frame the current reality.
It's a very tone deaf & privileged stand to complain about how an authoritarian government is making your life harder. If you're not being mistakenly imprisoned or actively hunted, the options are to join the resistance, or put your tail between your legs, let the government trample others' rights (and by proxy, your rights), and try to fool yourself into thinking you can just let things blow over.
If you're not joining in the resistance and you're instead choosing to sit out the fight for your freedoms & rights, you don't get to criticize the people who ARE fighting. They're fighting for themselves & their loved ones, and for you, whether you join in or not.
Make a new app, "notepad AI" or whatever, and let the rubes use it after coughing up some pocket change.
For those looking to pester me with sealioning & strawmen arguments, I'm not interested. This is unsustainable and will come crashing down. If you have a retort locked & loaded, save it for 5-10 years & come back, we can discuss if this was another Silicon Valley snake oil frenzy or the real deal once every company overleveraged on AI has crashed & the rubble pile has stopped smoking.

Not sure if it's as granular as you might need
I've used 'em all, pip + virtualenv, conda (and all its variants), Poetry, PDM (my personal favorite before switching to uv). Uv handles everything I need in a way that makes it so I don't have to reach for other tools, or really even think about what uv is doing. It just works, and it works great.
I even use it for small scripts. You can run "uv init --script <script_name.py>" and then "uv add package1 package2 package3 --script <script_name.py>". This adds an oddly formatted comment to the top of the script and instructs uv which packages to install when you run it. The first time you run "uv run <script_name.py>," uv installs everything you need and executes the script. Subsequent executions use the cached dependencies so it starts immediately.
If you're going to ask me to pitch you on why it's better than your current preference, I'm not going to do that. Uv is very easy to install & test, I really recommend giving it a try on your next script or pet project!
