pyaamb··on Tesla self-driving promises are getting weaker on new cars
I think the real reason why tesla will never give people the option to buy one of their cars without self driving hardware is because the market would reveal its actual demand and value
pyaamb··on Tesla self-driving promises are getting weaker on new cars
endless edge cases
pyaamb··on X caught blocking links to NPR, claiming the news site may be 'unsafe'
Concerning.
pyaamb··on Dutch DPA fines Uber €290M because of transfers of drivers’ data to the US
Good. This should be applied to Chinese EVs too.
pyaamb··on GLP-1 therapy increases visceral adipose tissue metabolic activity
imo, you wont get a complete model that explains whats happening unless you include the mental health aspect and how it all ties into this. the gut-brain connection is real. but its like just because it is harder to measure, we act as though it does not exist.
pyaamb··on X ordered to pay €550k to Irish employee fired after yes-or-resign ultimatum
High IQ, Low EQ.
pyaamb··on An interview with AMD CEO Lisa Su about solving hard problems
I'd love to know if any domain experts have a write up on what the the talent+ time+financial investment it would take for AMD to come up with with something that is a worthy rival to CUDA. Very curious to understand what the obstacles are.
pyaamb··on Start calculating digital carbon emissions in 5 minutes with CO2.js (2022)
Idk why Wikipedia don't consider making dark mode the default and giving users an option of switching classic light mode manually. Figure that should make a significant dent for the effort involved. I remember putting it forward as a suggestion a few years ago.
pyaamb··on Eye exercises for myopia prevention and control: comprehensive systematic review
One time during a long screen time session I happened to notice by accident that looking at the reflection of the screen in the office window produced almost no eye strain even though I could comfortably make out all the text off the screens reflection. Made a mental note to research into this for a potential solution but never got around to it. Find myself imagining if some setup based around a semi-transparent screen which absorbs/reflects away just the right amount, combined with a mirror to simulate long distance could be worth experimenting with for someone sufficiently motivated. Think of the setup in the opticians office where you read letters off a mirror, but semi transparent. Has anyone seen anything akin to this?

I missed the reference. Red nail polish?
pyaamb··on Show HN: Pi-C.A.R.D, a Raspberry Pi Voice Assistant
I'm thinking perhaps a standardized open design circuit that can you can view by opening up back cover and zooming in with a microscope.

feel like privacy tech like this that seemed wildly overkill for everyday users becomes necessary as the value of collecting data and profiling humans goes through the roof

pyaamb··on Show HN: Pi-C.A.R.D, a Raspberry Pi Voice Assistant
I would love for Apple/Google to introduce some tech that would make it provable/verifiable that the camera/mic on the device can only be captured when the indicator is on and that it isn't possible for apps or even higher layers of OS to spoof this
pyaamb··on Tesla abandons quest for one-piece 'gigacasting'
Or the $44bn he spent on Twitter.

pyaamb··on Tesla's Cybertrucks are rusting despite stainless steel
If it were any other EV maker, the comments would be shitting on the company and laughing at the CEO. But no, totally not a cult /s.
pyaamb··on Tesla's Cybertrucks are rusting despite stainless steel
"Some Cybertruck owners say their fellow Cybertruckers are blowing things out of proportion, and one said it’s a good idea to not “...drive it in the rain, or get it wet."
pyaamb··on Reddit beats film industry again, won't have to reveal pirates' IP addresses
username checks ou-oops. sorry, forgot this isn't reddit xD
pyaamb··on EVs won over early adopters, but mainstream buyers aren't along for the ride yet
Same. My biggest gripe. Also, buttons. I know putting everything in a monitor is cheaper for you, EV maker. We still want buttons.
pyaamb··on The Orange Pi 5 Plus

pyaamb··on How to delete your data from data brokers
Once data is collected, there is absolutely no certainty that requests to delete data will be honoured. IMO I would rather contribute towards efforts that discourage requirement of sharing personal data in the first place, especially when the organizations who request that data are off the hook when that data inevitably leaks out into the internet.
pyaamb··on ChatGPT for Teams

Are there good reasons why Distillation + Re-Added Electrolytes method isn't used more?
pyaamb··on Tesla Cybertruck Charging Curve Confirms Poor Charging Performance
This brings up a newbie question that Ive been wondering about for a while - Is it feasible to design an EV platform that can be upgraded to other battery chemistries? The idea of purchasing an EV that a few years down the line can be upgraded to the latest battery tech with a Software update to the BMS is very exciting!
pyaamb··on A recent software update was not successful. Your vehicle cannot be driven
Absolutely this. Been hoping that this will become a cool trend someday. Perhaps when teen-age Gen-Alpha or Gen-Beta kids seek to differentiate themselves from their Algorithm-controlled over-sharing IG/Tiktok parents.
pyaamb··on Wasabi linked to "substantial" boost in memory, Japanese study finds
I'm curious as to why its not possible to grow locally given the growing number of startups growing food in cities in fully controlled environments? for ex: https://youtu.be/VxRNoSSkLkE?t=191
pyaamb··on OpenAI negotiations to reinstate Altman hit snag over board role
Does the story of Sam raising funds from Saudi investors to start a AI Chip company have any relevance to what happened or is that just a nothing-burger? I don't any people on HN discussing it today
pyaamb··on How mobile apps illegally share personal data
I love this. I wish for these patterns to be available more widely.
