I would love to see details on the total requests placed on AWS and Azure during the time frame of COVID. My instinct tells me that Azure got hammered driven by those microsoft shops scrambling to get into the cloud while AWS had only a small increase, driven by technology companies (a small portion of companies) where the devs have final say and prefer AWS.
On to companies with more than 500 employees. They are being exempt because they are large enough to afford paying for their own employees to go on sick leave with it only affecting the profit for the year rather than sinking the company.
Now personally I think that 500 number should be 5,000 instead but at the end of the day any line you draw is arbitrarily arrived at (think some countries banning gatherings larger than 10, while others picked larger than 100).
Direct quote from the article:
“Overall, the changes underlying the Great Moderation appear intact, and we see the economy as structurally less recession-prone today,” Goldman economists Jan Hatzius and David Mericle wrote. “While new risks could emerge, none of the main sources of recent recessions — oil shocks, inflationary overheating, and financial imbalances — seem too concerning for now. As a result, the prospects for a soft landing look better than widely thought.”
They are just refuting the recession hysteria that has been popping up a lot recently, not in anyway stating they believe a recession cant happen.
I would love hear some thoughts from others that made the move, especially anyone that decided to move back to a monolith repo.
Quote from website: "The Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU has decided to invest in people’s future skills and will make the Elements of AI online course freely available in all official EU languages."
Not in anyway stating I believe this is true or is what is happening, just offering a counter point for how it could happen with no bias on anyone’s part.
We eat food for breakfast.
Is this statement true or false? You could mark it either way and both could be supported by rational thought! If you don’t come up with a framework for answering first and then evaluate that question within the context of the agreed upon framework the truthiness of the statement will remain subjective.
Foo = bar and 1 = 1 are equivalent in my mind.
Monarchy and capitalism are both drivers of aggregating individuals labor into a small number of goals. Socialism and Democracy are both sources of driving individual labor into individual pursuits.
Only the eye of the beholder can determine what is good or bad. A socialist democracy is most likely incapable of putting a man on the moon. A capitalistic monarchy is most likely capable of solving poverty within its borders (be careful what you wish for as you may be determined to be part of the cause of poverty and excised for the good oc The many).
The list will be endless and all of these people are right. Their world views are no less correct than yours and their interpretation of how our shared resources should be spent equally correct.
This is why capitalism is so effective. This is why Monarchies we’re so effective. These systems exist to channel the theoretical 1,000,000 humans away from spending all of their resources advancing 1,000,000 goals a single unit and instead advance one goal a million units (monarchy) or 5 goals 200,000 units (capitalism).
Speaking more to the topic at hand, it’s great that we were able to make the progress that we have and let’s be honest that’s owed almost entirely to the moon race going public (same way gluten free everything is available now making the people that really need it very happy because they never would have received nearly as many units of productivity spent on advancing their problem if it hadn’t gone mainstream for a time).
This seems to be a non story explained away by globalization or at least only of interest when discussed in the context of globalization as the trend seems to have little to do with the “US” specifically.
