prteja11··on The Overton Window of Food
I mean other than the wrong information about soy, the rest sounds like good advice.

> We've also talked about how too much soy protein is not great for men's health

prteja11··on Four simple rules behind Japan's most liveable cities
While you are correct about Vancouver downtown, once you get o suburbs like Langley, Coquitlam, they are no different that what you are calling out American cities for.

If we limit this to downtowns, there are several cities in America that are similar (Boston, Seattle, SF, SanDiego, Austin, NYC to name a few).

You are correct. And eventually Florida and Texas will also become less desirable to those not already wealthy.

This is how things are supposed to work out. Less people select to go to the states where government is harming them. Sucks that many people (especially people with low means) have to suffer u til the change eventually happens.

prteja11··on Aaron Swartz died 11 years ago today
Remembering Aaron Swartz (November 8, 1986 – January 11, 2013), an internet freedom activist who believed knowledge should be free and not behind a pay wall. He helped build RSS spec, Creative Commons and reddit to name a few. He hanged himself after being cornered by a few overzealous federal prosecutors while MIT stood passively (when it could have stood up for its ideals).

Tim Berners Lee said it best, "Aaron dead. World wanderers, we have lost a wise elder. Hackers for right, we are one down. Parents all, we have lost a child. Let us weep."

Love it. Just downloaded and used it. Would you consider adding diarization to your roadmap? I am not sure how hard it would be, as other implementations need to use hugging face/pyanote to do it, instead of local processing. (I left a review on the Appstore also).

I propose an in app purchase for diarization (and any other requested features).

prteja11··on Tech aims to block hatching of billions of male chicks fated for culling (2021)
We are bringing millions and billions of these animals to life. Stating that they face similar or worse fate in nature is not realistic as they wouldn’t exist in the first place.

prteja11··on Remote workers pushed up incomes and home prices in these cities
Any recommendations for an affordable city/town with moderate weather ( high 90f and 2-3 weeks of snow per year), walkable neighborhoods and good schools in North America (US/CA)? Seattle area is decent but too pricey for our family.

Do you believe that there’s no trauma involved in the dairy and egg industry? Spend a few minutes watching this about dairy. https://youtu.be/roIWg4ntj9k

Earthling Ed also has videos about egg industry, but the gist is make chicks are crushed in a meat grinder alive.

prteja11··on Texas abortion law has tech workers reconsidering moving to the state
In my opinion, while many parts of Austin are becoming expensive, I think it’s still not seattle levels of expensive (a lot of bidding /price wars in Austin are for newer houses, while bidding is pretty common in seattle for houses built in early 1900s).
prteja11··on Texas abortion law has tech workers reconsidering moving to the state
I was planning on eventually moving to Austin to be closer to family, but I won’t do it now. Will stay here in Washington, even though housing is very expensive here.
prteja11··on How to Love Animals in a Human-Shaped World
That’s a very broadly generalization. I have a vegan ideology and I understand the culture behind food. But I also know that culture is constantly changing. We are also very aware of ecological impacts of agriculture (may not be the “true” ecological impact as I’m not sure if there are any long term studies on that). What I know is there might be some communities/ countries that can’t move away from animal based protein yet, but for a lot of people living in industrialized countries like USA/UK, eating animal bodies/products is not a necessity for survival (or a healthy life).
prteja11··on Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger life cycle assessment (2018)
Reading this will give someone a stroke.

> the vegetable plots were not sprayed with pesticides (like they would be in the US), and so they consumed a fairly large amount of animal (insect) flesh as a result

This doesn’t make any sense. When you eat/cook vegetables, you don’t leave insects on it. You actually wash the vegetable. What you are suggesting is gross and so u healthy.

prteja11··on Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger life cycle assessment (2018)
If you have a few minutes, you should watch this. Backyard eggs are not ethical either.

https://youtu.be/7YFz99OT18k

TL:DR; 1) loss of nutrients and problems for the hen when they lay unnatural amount of eggs. 2) lot of issues to these hens such as loss of calcium, yolk and other items stuck inside and causing infection 3) killing these hens when they stop laying eggs (and therefore the implication that their life was only to serve you and treat them as a resource.)

That said, since there are so many vegans out there that don’t have any medical problems, do you think the health problems you face when not eating dairy and eggs are because you are not eating certain food groups? Perhaps a health exam will find out if you have some nutritional deficiencies?

That is exactly what a PCAOB does except it is private.

I have used O365 to collaborate on a spreadsheet and the experience was horrible. We had about 500 rows and 8 columns and it would lock up or just crash on us. We were not even collaborating. We just shared the file with 8 people and were trying to copy data from one tab to other (within the sheet).

Google Sheets was a much better experience for collaboration.
