prolikewh0a··on The Sounds That Haunted US Diplomats in Cuba? Lovelorn Crickets, Scientists Say
It is. It's nothing but anti-Cuba propaganda. Business as usual for US & Cuba relations.
prolikewh0a··on Over half of older US workers are pushed out of longtime jobs before they retire
>Is this society’s fault that employees don’t contribute to their 401(k)s until they are in their thirties?

I didn't have the opportunity or even know what a 401k was except at a high level until I was 26 in my first 'big job'. I'm 28 and still haven't put any money into it because I cannot afford to in a corporate IT position. I'm still trying to pay down my health insurance deductible so I can get my medications. How can I ever retire? At this point, I'm going to work until I die.

Not sure how this is my fault when I'm educated and work 45 hours per week and am away from home for 60 when adding in my commute.

prolikewh0a··on Google Tried to Patent My Work After a Job Interview
This honestly seems to be an issue with what my personal opinions are about certain topics. I do not "flame bait", I am serious in my positions and don't seek any type of nefarious response. I don't see how pointing out that nobody bats an eye when Google does what China does is "flamebait", it's just an observation. Other links were benign in nature or then sourced as factual right below 'mod' comments.

Thanks.

prolikewh0a··on Google Tried to Patent My Work After a Job Interview
Can you point me to the requests to stop? I've seen exactly one, a long time ago. I'm not personally attacking people, and I do contribute here with a positive upvote score. I don't see the issue.
prolikewh0a··on Google Shut Out Privacy and Security Teams from Secret China Project
Maybe if the workers had a say instead of only unlimited desire for large sums of capital and power having a say, Google would be in a more trustworthy, ethical, & moral place.

prolikewh0a··on There Is Gas Under the Tundra
Nearly impossible to change the global capitalism & imperialism we're currently in. We're going to die.

Edit: people flagging valid & non-harmful opinions just because you don't like them needs to stop.

prolikewh0a··on Amazon Starts Selling Software to Mine Patient Health Records
Amazon will soon. HIPAA will be ignored, broken, spit on. There will be no opt out or privacy. I guarantee it.
prolikewh0a··on Huawei: NZ bars Chinese firm on national security fears
>Filling our landfills full of disposable products?

This is rampant capitalistic consumerism, nothing to do with China.

>Copying our IP?

Doesn't really matter. Who do IP's benefit? Not the consumer, only the already super wealthy. Hint: the very large majority of the world is not wealthy.

Taxes went up on products from Aliexpress. Shipping from China to USA is much more efficient than the other way around.

When I'm subsidizing health insurance, food stamps, and medicare on Walmart, Amazon, Starbucks, etc, to put billions more in Bezos pocket, I could care less about something that actually benefits lower income people with affordable products that would be well out of reach in USA. Raise wages and people who were using Aliexpress will start buying domestic.

prolikewh0a··on Huawei: NZ bars Chinese firm on national security fears
There's one example, the Nortel IP theft. I'm surprised it wasn't the first comment like every story on Huawei. The world trusts devices that come out of USA even though there is hard evidence of the NSA physically rooting devices with their own malware, but wont trust Huawei.

This is entirely trade propaganda at the behest of large cellular RF equipment manufacturers, and device manufacturers.

prolikewh0a··on We are Google employees – Google must drop Dragonfly
I also feel like they've changed search so much for profit purposes that it's impossible to find certain things without receiving pages of irrelevance. I've been using Google since the early 2000's and it's so easy to tell Search has dropped in quality. Certain words & phrases I know would produce legitimate useful search results in 2008 will now just pull pages of unrelated ads.

It's still the best, but the profit motive is harming the amazing work that Google once did.

prolikewh0a··on Farm bankruptcies on the rise according to new Fed report

prolikewh0a··on Have Tech Perks Gone Too Far?
Employee perks can never go too far. Anything that helps an employee feel more comfortable in their working environment is a plus and will contribute to creativity & productivity.
prolikewh0a··on My New Vagina Won't Make Me Happy
As a transgender person I mostly agree with this article. Since starting Hormone Replacement Therapy I did have major improvements in life. I started dating, I started making friends, I felt emotions, I cried, my skin was soft and my face was with cute pink cheeks, my body hair almost entirely stopped growing; I felt like I was heading in the right direction, felt a sense of some comfort, and it relieved a lot of symptoms for me. I was being called 'she', 'miss', 'ma'am' and it made me happy and greatly improved my quality of life. I'm not sure how this couldn't be considered treatment, or even compared to a therapist handing a suicidal patient a razor to just end it now. While it may not work for everyone, it does work for some. We give anti-depressants to people which have the side effect of possibly creating more suicidal thoughts and not working on most people, but that's perfectly fine? Hormones are not a death causing drug.

I'm now off of them due to not being able to afford my health insurance deductible and I feel like an absolute mess of a human being again. I feel the dysphoria. The only emotions I feel now are anger and crippling depression. I criticize everything about me and feel like I'm falling down a hole again. I feel like my life is over again.

Edit: Why the downvotes? D:

prolikewh0a··on Do You Have a Moral Duty to Leave Facebook?

prolikewh0a··on Do You Have a Moral Duty to Leave Facebook?
Are you really leaving Facebook at that point though? They're still collecting every bit of text you send to serve you ads and sell your data. If your friends will only message you on FB messenger, are they really that great of friends?

prolikewh0a··on Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is taking a stand against “hustle porn”

prolikewh0a··on Finland freezes arms export permits to Saudi Arabia and UAE over Yemen
Im sorry, I just don't trust the people who got us into the Iraq war to tell us anything about foreign policy from three war monger countries being funded by US imperialism.

Iraq, libya, afghanistan, vietnam, laos, cambodia, korea, all based on lies which corporate media sold to us. That's only the tip of the iceberg too.

I am skeptical, and so should everyone else. If we aren't skeptical, we'll be going "why the heck did we do this?" in 8 years.

>This is a country that regularly reaffirms its Fatwa calling for the murder of Salman Rushdie. In 2016 they even increased the bounty for his murder.

Saudi Arabia just killed a journalist with no reprocussions, is bombing the absolute shit out of Yemen (civilians!) using US weapons and intelligence. Democracy Now! had an episode this week about Israeli, US, & Saudi targeted assassination programs.

It's easy to see that the corporate media is selling this potential war. How do you trust it?

In my opinion, the rest of the world should be stopping US, Israel, and Saudi from continuing their global terrorism programs and ending imperialism.

prolikewh0a··on U.S. Federal Railroad Administration Legalizes Lightweight Train Cars
Where's the funding going to come from? USA has no money for infrastructure. MTA is struggling in NYC. Seattle's light rail is going to be completed in 2041+ and is being paid through a regressive car tab tax. I think it's a pipe dream that rail or transit will ever be improved other than very modestly in the USA.

Plenty of money and land for pipelines though https://i.imgur.com/IdwIHQB.gif

prolikewh0a··on Finland freezes arms export permits to Saudi Arabia and UAE over Yemen
You still haven't provided any sources. These are all opinions at this point.
prolikewh0a··on Finland freezes arms export permits to Saudi Arabia and UAE over Yemen
No it doesn't. I've read manufactured consent. I understand and see the propaganda being targeted at Iran by USA, Saudi, & Israel. This is how we got into the Iraq war. I would like sources.
prolikewh0a··on Finland freezes arms export permits to Saudi Arabia and UAE over Yemen
>Iran is controlled by monsters, and Egypt/Saudi Arabia are the primary force opposed to them at this time.

Can you please provide sources? Saudi Arabia is bombing innocent civilians and children in Yemen right now. Most of the 9/11 Hijackers were from Saudi Arabia too.

prolikewh0a··on Finland freezes arms export permits to Saudi Arabia and UAE over Yemen
Could you please provide sources?
prolikewh0a··on Finland freezes arms export permits to Saudi Arabia and UAE over Yemen
The total opposite, even though big media likes to say otherwise. Iran is fairly benign, but Israel has beef with them. There is a lot of propaganda over Iran. I feel like it's probably the next one-sided big war.
prolikewh0a··on Apple iPhone Supplier Foxconn Planning Deep Cost Cuts
Maybe it's because I can get a modern Android One phone for $150 that will day-to-day perform right with an iPhone in normal use cases, with a headphone jack, notched IPS screen, IR blaster, FM radio, dual removable sim with SD storage to 256GB, 4000mAh battery that lasts 12 hours screen-on-time, camera that will compete with any modern mid range ~$400 phone, with full metal construction except for where RF needs to escape.

Most people aren't playing PUBG or running CPU intensive tasks on their phones, they're texting, reading the news, watching twitch/youtube, or looking at instagram/facebook/slack/discord.

$1000+ is absolute insanity. $749 for the XR is blatantly ripping you off.
