prez··on Show HN: Appenguin – Turn your website into an Android app
Thanks! glad you like it (")>
prez··on Show HN: Appenguin – Turn your website into an Android app
The generation is now 99% automated, and I will try to send the apps as fast as I can.

There's also a paid version, with no ads and other goodies.

And lots of premium features coming soon. Stay tuned!

Sorry for the form fail. Everything works now :)
prez··on Show HN: Appenguin – Turn your website into an Android app
Oops. I got your details though. I'll just get rid of the form service.

Edit: fixed!

Sorry for the delays. It's still not 100% automated, but it takes about 20 seconds to generate an Android Gradle project, build an apk, build a release apk, and push it with adb.

The next step would be connecting a form to it so everything is done automatically. Maybe push the app to Google Play through their API.

If you register, I'll email you an apk within a few hours.

Feedback appretiated, thanks, Yuri :)

Edit: sorry if the site is a little buggy, threw this all up in a day or so.

prez··on Developer Program Transition Guide
> Will the following call still be permitted? https://api.linkedin.com/v1/companies?is-company-admin=true

It's in the new docs, so I guess it's going to stay at least for a while...

prez··on Changes to Linkedin API Developer Program

They're basically restricting access to 90% of their API.

prez··on How I Hacked a Router
Doesn't the target need to have an active router admin session for the CSRF to work?

Unless I'm missing something...

prez··on The evil unit test.
You shall use a foreach every time you need to perform a loop.

Works pretty well in Python.

Though it doesn't invalidate the point the author tries to make.

prez··on Google+ Hacker News Circle makes Search plus Your World Amazing
Go to G+ chat -> privacy settings and uncheck the HN circle.

Had the same problem, took me a while to figure how to fix it.

prez··on Setting up Django + NGinx + Green Unicorn in an Ubuntu EC2 instance
In short - faster, easier on ram usage and easier to configure.
prez··on Firefox – tons of tools for web developers
Wow, the CSS Reloader add-on is awesome! This could've save me a couple of hours if I had it earlier.

prez··on Total Commander for Android version 1.0 release candidate
When I used it about 2 years ago, it wasn't very good back then.

Recently I also tried Double Commander, Krusader, Tux Commander and a few more. Double Commander is quite good, but it's still a little buggy and missing some features.

I currently I use both MC and DC, each for it's own purposes. MC is an excellent file manager, it's only downside is the GUI.

prez··on Total Commander for Android version 1.0 release candidate
An Android version? Where is the Linux version I've been waiting years for?

Not that I'm complaining, TC for Android could be awesome, but I could really use good file manager in Linux, and would gladly pay for it.

prez··on Zed Shaw: Github's Favorite Joke
> Getting off github and onto bitbucket would another 20-30 minutes.

Actually, much less than that - 5 minutes at most, for creating the repo.

prez··on A small C hack - private members in C structures
Well, you're right, I just thought it was an interesting usage.

I don't think I would ever use it in code or suggest it to anyone.

prez··on Ask HN: When is the HN community most active?
UTC ("... based on its submission time (UTC).")
prez··on Annoying.js: How to be an asshole
Wow, that's just... not very nice. Maybe browsers should block this, and some other stuff on the list.
prez··on Annoying.js: How to be an asshole
I think it's possible only in IE, or using Flash.
prez··on Rate My Side/Weekend Project [abt.io]
Simple, but looks like it could be very useful.

I noticed that images are loaded in their original size - causes the page to "jump" when they're resized. Wouldn't it be better to resize them on the server?

prez··on Fetch.io Downloads Your Torrents For You Insanely Fast, Then Streams Them to You
Doesn't seem very practical for torrents, but it looks like it works great for downloading rapidshare files - especially the annoying ones, divided into 20 x 100mb files.
prez··on Ask HN: What background music you play while coding?
For me, the "coding music" must be simple and not distracting - something that doesn't make me concentrate on the music instead of the code. Or no music at all.
prez··on Cellular Automaton Music Generator
All 12 pitches would sound horrible, you need at least a diatonic scale.

Q: Which scale is used in this? How did you come up with it? A: D A Bb C D E F A C are the pitches. I used the scale some models of Hang drums are tuned into.

Changing the scale could be a nice feature...

prez··on Show HN: My 4-hour project, why it failed
A little of both. It takes a while for the background image to load, maybe you can compress it without noticeable quality loss? Then again, it should be fine with a normal connection on a normal computer.
prez··on Show HN: My 4-hour project, why it failed
Not exactly the type of project I expected to see on HN.

But actually ... I like it, I might even buy one as a gift for a stoner friend.

The design (of weedtee.com) is a bit heavy. I'm using a crappy comp connected to RDP and it took it about 5-10 seconds just to render the page. Maybe (a slight) redesign will help you turn visitors into customers?
