pranitbauva1997··on Mistakes of Omission in AI Evals
What would human intelligence would have done that AI didn't?
pranitbauva1997··on Pitching build v/s buy is dead
My hot take is: if a build v/s buy decision comes up frequently in meetings with your customers, you're a dead man walking. Either figure out a different market altogether, or a different customer segment who don't think they can build it themselves.
pranitbauva1997··on Cloudflare AutoRAG First Impressions
I have built RAG apps before, and when I heard about Cloudflare announcing AutoRAG in beta, I was excited to try it out. It's pretty decent, and if any Cloudflare person is reading this, I also have some suggestions for improvement.
pranitbauva1997··on I vibe-migrated to wagtail from Zola/Rust static sites
After hitting workflow friction and editing inertia with my Zola/Rust static site, I migrated back to a CMS. Wagtail won out due to Python/Django familiarity and needing backend features beyond static generation—a pragmatic shift. This post details the rationale, the Hetzner/Cloudflare/Tailscale stack, and why SSG limitations became too costly.
pranitbauva1997··on Product Response Cycle
I believe it's extremely crucial to understand response cycle of each product i.e. when does the product start showing it's advantages. A simplistic view would be that shorter the response cycle, the better. A more complete view would be that understanding the response cycle allows you to decide your go-to-market.
pranitbauva1997··on Investing Strategy: Unpopular large caps
The market has a tendency to overvalue stocks which have shown high recent growth and UNDERVALUE companies that are OUT OF FAVOUR. This creates the necessary margin of safety in the investment.
pranitbauva1997··on Peter Thiel's Religion
Curious to know more.
pranitbauva1997··on Peter Thiel's Religion
I did read it till the end, although I skimmed the paragraphs which talked about religion.

I just looked into the author in detail and it turns out he is a professional writer, not someone in tech or business.

pranitbauva1997··on Peter Thiel's Religion
I thought it was an interesting article, so I shared it here.
pranitbauva1997··on Inflation as a first-class citizen in financial tools
I never assume a 2% inflation rate. I live in India, so I add/subtract 2% from the government's declared inflation numbers. If the government says inflation is 4%, I will use 6% for assets and 2% for EMIs.

In developed countries, maybe I would add 1-1.5%

pranitbauva1997··on Inflation as a first-class citizen in financial tools
You have sharp financial skills. I predicted this comment, so I added a disclaimer that one should be providing high value to society, which isn't replaceable. If one does that, the source of funds will go up more than inflation.

The effect of inflation is only relevant for home loans or for infrastructure projects like building bridges, buildings, factories, etc.

pranitbauva1997··on Inflation as a first-class citizen in financial tools
True for SIP. That does give a somewhat accurate number. For knowing the present value of the last EMI, it doesn't help, though.
pranitbauva1997··on Inflation as a first-class citizen in financial tools
Using (absolute interest rate - inflation) as the real interest rate is a good enough approximation, but the present value of the last EMI payment would be impossible to obtain.

The links don't seem to be obvious.

Thanks for notifying me; I have now updated the blog post, making the links explicit.

pranitbauva1997··on Know Your Term Sheet AI Prompt
Once upon a time, the dark arts of term sheets were closely guarded secrets. Now, we can take the help of AI & LLMs to understand them better.

I have tried this on many real term sheets, and it looks quite promising. One thing that's missing is building out the modelling scenario.

pranitbauva1997··on Don't Quit Your Job
I have the philosophy that if you don't build in the bad times, you don't get to sell in the good times.

Also it helps to keep 3-4 years of runway.

pranitbauva1997··on Ask HN: How often do you restart your computer?
At least every day. Sometimes in between if I have ran any updates.
pranitbauva1997··on Myth: Static IPs solves webhook security problems
A common myth we have heard from multiple people when talking about webhook security is that whitelisting static IPs at the receivers’ end is an enough security measure.

In this guide, we discuss why it isn’t enough and how can things go wrong. When discussing any security issue, it’s essential to put the black-hat cap and try to exploit the system which relies only on static IPs.

pranitbauva1997··on Ask HN: Best WFH Purchases?
A desktop PC with i9-13900K. For too long I have worked with under-powered machines.
pranitbauva1997··on Annual Report: Reverse Penny Drop and Redevelopment
I write annual reports publishing what I achieved in the past year.
pranitbauva1997··on The world’s last internet cafes
Internet Cafes still exist in India. They now serve older people who need a person's help to navigate the web.
pranitbauva1997··on Ask HN: Side projects making less than $2k MRR, what's your project?
Working on sending and processing of webhooks to be reliable and easy, have a look at https://nirah.app
pranitbauva1997··on Landing Pages should get straight to the point – Webhooks as a Service
Too many landing pages do not communicate what the product is about and instead beat around the bush which is why I made one which looks like this.
pranitbauva1997··on Ask HN: Anyone making money through algorithmic trading?
The common strategies are delta heding, gamma hedging and gamma scalping for market neutral trades.
pranitbauva1997··on Ask HN: 2018 resolutions?
Smoke weed and find recursive patters in music and nature! ;)

Also finish Godel, Escher and Bach

pranitbauva1997··on Best online video courses for Data Structures and Algorithms
Using the word "best" isn't always quite appropriate. I think it is better to mention, "Best for <whom>".
pranitbauva1997··on Ask HN: Where do you host your personal blog these days?
I mostly write the technical blogs on my website[1] with jekyll and my medium account for just random thoughts.
