pqqqqq··on I understood gender discrimination once I added “Mr.” to my resume
I accidentally deleted a line when I was typing; I meant to write "Male rape is predominately a result of the way the United States does incarceration and needs to be discussed in that context; the parent isn't saying that male rape victims 'don't count' "

Also, you clearly didn't bother to glance over any of the data I provided. You probably should, especially about the extremely well documented gendered pay gap. Denying that such a gap exists when there are mountains of evidence to the contrary only makes you sound ignorant and chauvinistic.

I'd still like citations on the male custody and on this 'forced envelopment' business.

> Making faith based statements like that and acting as though they are evidence based is not productive.

Cool; how about some evidence for your custody assertions?

> There is no evidence to support feminist mythology surrounding their redefinition of patriarchy.

Systemic sexism is widely documented. This ranges from pay gaps [1] to harsher views on overweight women vs men [2] to sexual assault [3]. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Are you objecting to appropriation of the word 'patriarchy'?

Read the next sentence. Male rape is predominantly a the parent isn't saying that male rape victims "don't count".

pqqqqq··on Quinoa should be taking over the world. This is why it isn’t
It contains a good amount of all of the essential amino acids (ie the amino acids that your body cannot produce adequately itself). It also has calcium and iron. It's a pretty awesome nutritional food.

EDIT: to emphasize, the key advantage of quinoa is that it has a lot of all of the essential amino acids, which is very very rare among plants. I believe the only other plant with all essential amino acids is soy.

pqqqqq··on Quinoa should be taking over the world. This is why it isn’t
It's a problem for everyone else. Specifically, malnutrition in children has grown in quinoa cultivating areas since their parents can no longer afford quinoa. It's literally four times as expensive per weight compared to much less nutritious noodles

pqqqqq··on Rare Cancer Seen In 41 Homosexuals (1981)
What about SARS back in 2003? China first observed SARS in Nov 2002 but didn't report it until February 2003. The responsible virus was identified by April 2003 and the whole disease contained by July. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_acute_respiratory_syndro...

I'm not an epidemiologist so I can't compare the relative complexity of the SARS virus to HIV. But I'm skeptical that HIV presented a massive and insurmountable biologic challenge compared to other viruses.

I also encourage you to look into the epidemiological and sociological aspects of AIDS. It's horrifying, and it colors my above skepticism. The gay community referred to AIDS as a holocaust back in the early 80s, and I would encourage you to read this article at your leisure to see why: http://www.nytimes.com/1988/10/23/books/l-aids-and-the-holoc...

Just to give you an idea, the FDA didn't start screening its blood until 1985 after several documented cases where patients received AIDS from blood transfusions.

Reagan has been criticized for his complete non-response to AIDS as well. He mentioned it in passing in 1985, and didn't actually address the issue until 1987. Since AIDS mostly affected homosexuals and drug users, AIDS wasn't exactly a high priority for the Reagan administration in light of the Religious Right's massive power at the time. The popular rhetoric of the era was more akin to "AIDS is God's punishment for homosexuality" than compassion.

To quote Reagan's biographer: "Reagan's response to this epidemic was halting and ineffective."

pqqqqq··on Bolivia to file UN complaint over airspace blockade
I'm not sure "persecution" is the right word for this, but the DOJ unilaterally seized phone records for several Associated Press journalists directly from the telephone company without notifying the AP first.

Needless to say, this is a gross abuse of power; the AP couldn't even challenge the seizure in court because they executed the seizure secretly. It's particularly frightening because it dissuades anyone, particularly government officials potentially privy to corrupt programs & practices, from anonymously talking to journalists.

pqqqqq··on HBGary, Palantir, Prism, Facebook and The Industrial Surveillance Complex
> Their business does not center around tracking down terrorists. They do all things "Big Data".

The company is a defense contractor. Yes, they've successfully commercialized their technology for law enforcement, bank fraud detection, disaster recovery, and whatnot, but you'd be silly to think that intelligence (and "tracking down terrorists") is not central to their business. They were funded by the CIA's VC firm.
