Oldies let's gather here.
postexitus··on Fable 5.1 Solves the Cyphral Distich, a 370-year-old cipher
You are giving a line by line answer to AI slop.

People should be educated about AI gotchas.

postexitus··on Apple caught off guard by AI demand for Mac Mini and Mac Studio
If apple indeed use shit posting, there has to be several layers of subcontractors in between for plausible deniability. Apple's own comms guidelines strictly prohibits pay-per-review, manipulative, "shit posting" style practices.
postexitus··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
For 60% of the world, it doesn't make a difference. Do not project your gendered (read: sexist) language constructs onto us.
postexitus··on Apple caught off guard by AI demand for Mac Mini and Mac Studio
Yeah, through multiple layers of approvals. Not shtposting on hacker news.
postexitus··on DoltLite: A SQLite fork with Git-style version control, built with 2k agent PRs
This, from a 1 day old throwaway account, tells a lot.
postexitus··on Why older tech is sometimes safer from hackers
True - you avoid widespread attacks, but you become super vulnerable for targeted ones.
postexitus··on Why older tech is sometimes safer from hackers
mutt is still being actively developed. Being on command line doesn't make something legacy. Eudora on the other hand had its latest version out 2 decades ago - it lacks even the most basic security updates (starting from TLS, but many more).
postexitus··on Why older tech is sometimes safer from hackers
I understand BBC may not have the technical background to critically assess this approach, but whoever using Eudora (I loved it in 2001 btw) for security should get their credentials removed via King's order. Security through "obsolescence" is no different from security through obscurity - therefore, it doesn't work. Somebody not bothering to look for holes in your software doesn't mean they don't exist - in the age of Claude - I am pretty sure I can destroy your legacy software in minutes.
postexitus··on Meta's blockbuster trial draws parallels to big tobacco
At some point it's going to catch up. Legislation is a very hard process.
postexitus··on Meta's blockbuster trial draws parallels to big tobacco
No - it means you are exposed to - electricity / gas / oil prices. Or Wheat maybe?
postexitus··on RamenHaus
Nice Ramen sold at 14 EUR are those prices. In Japan, you can have a nice hinge quality bowl of Ramen for around 7-8 EUR.
postexitus··on RamenHaus
That's why you should try it in Japan.
postexitus··on It's not about physical vs. digital games, it's about ownership
You are naive. Nothing to do with empathy. Everything is cash - warm little cash. No what's lost is - people stopped voting with their wallets. When someone did something atrocious, people stopped buying it. Now - first of all, half of the consumers don't care if PS5 titles are on disc already. And they will not stop when they stop putting things on discs. So why would Sony stop?
postexitus··on Physical disc production ending in Jan 2028 for new games on PlayStation
Ok great don't buy them in digital form so Sony learns a lesson?
postexitus··on Physical disc production ending in Jan 2028 for new games on PlayStation
Maybe introduce virtual scratches? Or like maybe blur the textures a bit every time it's played?
postexitus··on The disappearance of Japan's animators
Is Dorohedoro S2 out? Wa wa wee wa!

Kidding aside, did you pick those 2006 releases at the time they were being released or are you picking them up from a list after years of refinement and discovery? It's completely possible that 2026 will be as fruitful from a 2046 perspective.

postexitus··on Aisle Discovers 6 New CVEs in Curl, Including the Oldest Issue Ever Reported
If they don't do it, somebody else will. It's better white hats get there first.
postexitus··on Tesco moving 40k server workloads off VMware amid Broadcom's abusive conduct
If you can't imagine the scale of a retailer's etnerprise architecture, maybe it's a you problem?
postexitus··on UK Brings in Full Social Media Ban for Under-16s
Same argument goes for cigarette and alcohol. Withholding access to them is a decision a parent can make. Are you for allowing children to purchase them?
postexitus··on Smudging the game disc to make speedrunning 'SpongeBob' faster
Well - ketchup on your disc may drip on the the laser diode - don't you think it's hard to defend against? maybe they need lens wipers against ketchup on the disc issue.
postexitus··on Ask HN: What is the AI setup for an experienced dev starting on a new project?
True, but I see how much of a leverage AI tools give - I would like to exploit them as much as possible and only use my experience where necessary (not necessarily when typing code). I can individually instruct Codex or agents to do somewhat complex work and review and merge, but I am wondering if there is a better way to set everything up.
postexitus··on Age verification tech could put children at greater risk, says think tank
I can smell the reply of someone who doesn't have a teenager from a mile. Yes, you will do everything right. Yes, your kids will be perfect. Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face.
postexitus··on Ask HN: What is the AI setup for an experienced dev starting on a new project?
What is your CI like? Do you auto deploy somewhere?
postexitus··on Show HN: I reverse-engineered the world maps of Test Drive III (1990 DOS game)
Never played TD - How does it compare to Lotus? More of a simulation?
postexitus··on Toy Story 5 shows 'terror' of children's screen addiction, says Tom Hanks
I don't think when people say "terror of screen time" they mean 20 minutes of Bluey here and there.
postexitus··on What if remote working, not AI, is to blame for weak junior hiring?
Wow, took me 2 mins to scroll down to first anti-RTO comment - the sentiment is certainly shifting.
postexitus··on Why is almost everyone right-handed? A new study connects it to bipedalism
While true - left hand changes position all the time and has to go on the correct frets all the time - right hand is gentle and subtler, I agree, but is also a lot more forgiving.
postexitus··on Why is almost everyone right-handed? A new study connects it to bipedalism
Some of the best guitarists I have met are left-handed playing right-handed guitar ones. Which also makes sense - The more difficult part of playing the guitar is not fingering/picking, it's the fretboard. By using their dominant hand on the fretboard they have a genuine advantage. I've never understood why we formed the right handed guitar to have the dominant hand on the body. There must be a reason.
postexitus··on Google I/O
I can't think of an AI-enabled IDE project that's not a fork of VSCode - There is only Zed, though I don't know if we can compare it to Antigravity or Cursor.

I am not sure if they have to explicitly say it's VSCode - do we expect car companies to say "Hey we actually rebadged this to X but it's originally Y" - those who need to know, already know.
