posabsolute··on Email Integration Done Right
I agree,

2 time in this article you claim close.io got it better that everyone else. If you really wanted this article to be interesting you would have gone in depth without the "we better than other SaaS".

Instead you posted an overview that is not interesting to anyone

posabsolute··on Most AB-tests will fail
Yeah..

If you don't have anything to give to the discussion, maybe you should not comment.

posabsolute··on Most AB-tests will fail
Not quite sure I fully agree with this, having played myself with a/b tests for big box publicity, changing the message as lead to tremendous changes. Same for the website, conversions has changed a lot, not always for the better.

I do fully agree that buttons color really doesn't matter, which may explain OP new vs old website conversion rate, frankly it's about the same layout, without any different call to actions.

posabsolute··on Are you ready for iOS 7? Get flat in 7 days.
Yes! Please follow every design steps Apple make so all apps look like the other one and individuality has completely disappeared.

Seriously a well thought app is a well thought app, you don't need to go flat just because it will be the next 6 months crave before textures pops back again....

posabsolute··on Your Job Title Is Wrong, Here Is What It Should Be
Bla bla bla, title usually don't mean jack in mostly any job beside things like architect (of real building)

Does it warrant (another) blog post to tell us that our job titles means nothing? certainly not.

posabsolute··on The weird state of mobile web apps
Well in the case of facebook, they did not had a great html5 app from the get go.

But when you see LinkedIn push back when they had one of the best known html5 app in the appstore, that warrants questions, specially since they are farther in the process than most teams

(they created an html5 app, iterated on it for couple of months, decided to revert back because of memory performances )

The lack of teams being open about their process or them being more in the shadow certainly does not helps, we need more success story with html5 being in the appstores. It still certainly considered a risk by management teams when you associate all your mobile efforts with html5.

posabsolute··on The weird state of mobile web apps
You can make it work, I can even have good animation performance with css3 on the iphone 3gs. Animating one or 2 items works well,

Things you need to be careful is too much animations at the same time & accessing and modifying the DOM while you animate, you need to "block access", something IOS does natively it seems.

But for Android that's another story, one device it's goint to be pretty good, on another it's complete crap and you need to deactivate animations all together.

posabsolute··on The weird state of mobile web apps
Thanks, I also added a link in the article for reference
posabsolute··on Unheap - A tidy repository of jQuery plugins
I must say, they do a great job at selecting plugins that goes into their repo.
posabsolute··on JavaScript MVC frameworks: A Comparison of Marionette and Chaplin
I disagree, it might be faster on the short run but not on the long run. small swift mvc is better than standing on the giant shoulder of the other guy.

Seriously backbone is not hard to learn, fucking easy to extend, specially removing the rendering boilerplates, thats like 30 seconds of extending the view system.

You also do not address the main point, most examples are plain backbone, why is that? probably because handling your own "marionnette" is easy.

posabsolute··on Yahoo's Mayer gets internal flak for more rigorous hiring
Not really, in the case of summumly 2 engineers did not pass the yahoo tests and most probably will not be working for yahoo.

Congrats to them, they got the money without the 18 months contract...

posabsolute··on Sendgrid is down
Agreed, as an evangelist her twitter account represent Sendgrid, as such Sendgrid approve of this message which is baffling to me.

I'm really sad these guys lost their jobs because of these remarks, I don't think the way she handled that is the way we need to move forward.

posabsolute··on Show HN: Weekend project, Intro.js
Yea, the support team want multiple scenarios (intros) in a page, we use a param, so they can link to it and push them to users asking how to do stuff,

it becomes for us like an advanced, usable, faq system

posabsolute··on Show HN: Weekend project, Intro.js
Hey, we have been looking to integrate a solution like this in our product, I got a couple of suggestions.

First, using data attribute is too intrusive, a json object would have been much better, we just cannot add these attributes everywhere in our app.

Using a json object would also make it possible for anyone to create a UI tool for creating guides.

Also a "scenario" concept would be nice, having the ability to have multiple scenarios in a page is essential for a support team.

Last thing, the UX is fantastic, it's clean and simple :)

posabsolute··on Yahoo Says New Policy Is Meant to Raise Morale
Wow what a suck up article to Yahoo :

"Parking lots and entire floors of cubicles were nearly empty because some employees were working as little as possible and leaving early."

That's certainly not what I heard from how it worked at yahoo, I guess all those managers just don't care if the devs do not delivers there weekly items.

Not to say that Yahoo structure is not fucked up and that this step was not necessary, but the reasoning given in this article is weak

posabsolute··on Is Snapchat only used for sexting? We asked 5,000 people to find out
people also lie, when you just sent a sex picture and they ask you if you juste sent that, I'm incline to think you will say you didn't.

Personally i don't trust their stats, it's lower than the average for text messages, which really does not make any sense to me.

posabsolute··on The Return of Kim Dotcom
I get the feeling that hacker news is getting targeted a lot more these days by big publishing companies,

often an article will sit on top without any comments

posabsolute··on [dead]
Well hacker news is generally better because if you get too much down voted nobody will see your comments anymore.

I think that self regulate much of HN comments, and you think twice before being an asshole (if you know about that..).

posabsolute··on Designer Eats Engineer
I disagree strongly with the author,

Yea I designer can learn how to do dev stuff, is he going to do it efficiently in a work environment? I think not. The author talk about front-end development like it's coming increasingly easy, it's the contrary, it's more complex than it ever was.

Front-end development is not anymore about doing some css, html & creating a poorly written jquery plugins. It's a whole stack now, you got preprocessors to make css more powerful, a whole lot of tools to automate process, and js mvc to the booth & much more advanced javascript code to handle.

Is there exceptions? of course there are, some engineer are incredibly gifted designers and the other way is true, but in general? it's going to stay separate jobs.

posabsolute··on Making Facebook's native mobile app faster using HTML5
I am currently developing a vanilla (no mobile frameworks like sencha) mobile web app I can attest that on IOS you can pretty much get native performance if you do some trade off and optimize your app rendering.

On android that's another game and you can forget about all those cozy animations and only devices with android 4.0+ will perform well, or at all (in my case anyway).

Also I'm really not sure why people currently associate html5 apps with bad battery life, personally I did not see any noticeable differences in usage from a native one, hell native use a lot more the gpu so it should be worse.

posabsolute··on Russian iTunes Store shows porn images by mistake
An (fired) intern working on that process using xxx placeholder? Only thing I can think of that makes sense..
posabsolute··on Getting into YC as a single, non-technical founder
I agree with you, for me I found his background very impressive event without the Harvard stuff, it shows he is dedicated, not afraid to take risks, and move where his carrer taken him

I mean, good for him, I'm not surprise he was taken in

posabsolute··on Licensing of Titanium chaotic and unclear
Exactly,

It really does not tell me if I can use it to do freelance contract, which is the base of the question...

posabsolute··on There is something magical about Firefox OS
Yea well there is something not magical about it too which is normal users do not care what you write your apps in.

We already have 3 good options for OS, We have the cool iOS, the ios copy, android, and the alternative from microsoft.

What we have here is a glorified Android that you can write apps in js, yay, 100 bucks it will never take off.

posabsolute··on Google shuts down mobile web app for Google Talk
there you go http://techcrunch.com/2009/07/27/apple-is-growing-rotten-to-...
posabsolute··on What Happens When You Taunt 4Chan: Story of Lacey Vicich
well it's more than that,

Its walking alone in the bad part of town at midnight having a student skirt with a sign that is saying rape me" type of stupid.

What can go wrong?? huh...

posabsolute··on Google shuts down mobile web app for Google Talk
They did, it got rejected & they created that thing instead
posabsolute··on Things I, as a designer, wish more tech startups knew
Agreed, I think lot fo the stuff here, it's his job to educate others about it.
posabsolute··on Twitter effectively killing JSONP too
They will be killing a lot of third party plugin too, a good example would be the wordpress plugins, a lot of them use the jsonp stuff.

Seems weird to mee, but hey, anything to make money in the end I guess

posabsolute··on Chinese dev steals US HTML5 Game engine, US hosts won't close down the copy
It's not a bad joke, and what he is selling is not a web app either. There is a lot of open source projects that you have to buy commercial licence in other more closed languages.

What he is selling is a programming framework to do games and it is not licenced to be resold, simple as that.

If the guy would be in the US, it's clear that action would be easily enforceable. Softlayer should atleast take down the website.
