plufz··on Turn off and restrict access to Apple Intelligence features on Mac
Wow insane.
plufz··on Qwen Image 2.1
What are the top image models that still use a less restrictive license today?
plufz··on I had Gemini train its own replacement for $9
Use the original title: Submit the actual title from the source page unless it is misleading or linkbait.

And this can be said to be misleading in my opinion

plufz··on Rope, twine and thread: Invisible technologies of the Stone Age
I didn’t mean industrialization but more articles like this one https://www.gu.se/en/news/textile-production-a-driving-force...
plufz··on Rope, twine and thread: Invisible technologies of the Stone Age
You don’t have to be a scholar in gender studies to wonder why textile has been a bit overlooked when looking back at human development.
plufz··on Google will buy half the electricity from one of Finland's nuclear power plants
But isn’t that also because of not investing in the grid more than a production problem? Not cheap to upgrade the grid of course but having good transmission capacity makes a more stable and efficient energy system.

Not saying we shouldn’t produce more electricity. But from what I have understood it’s mainly about other factors than production.

plufz··on Google will buy half the electricity from one of Finland's nuclear power plants
Is that really it? I thought Sweden was a net exporter and that the price volatility was much more related to the eu pricing and distribution?
plufz··on Psychoactive substances helped spur Andean civilization
Just for clarification. The default mode network is what activates when we are at rest or ”not focused on the outside world”. Ie daydreaming and mind wandering, even if it also can be active during detailed thinking.

It has also been shown to have negative correlation to networks in the brain associated with attention.

plufz··on I-have-ADHD: A skill to stop coding agents from burying the answer
Im not 100% following. ADHD-type adjustments of information is usually the type of changes that make information more accessible for everyone. There are studies on how classes thst where adjusted because one student have adhd have improved all students performance. So it seems quite different from incorrect medication? Or am i misunderstanding you?
plufz··on Among European Companies That Use a CDN, Nearly 9 in 10 Use Cloudflare
I don’t want my government to be a corporate controlled army for the big corps in my country.
plufz··on European Commission Revives Push for Encryption Backdoors in ProtectEU Strategy
Red herring how exactly? The conversation is literally:

”> In reality, they want to be dictators. Its much worse than that. They want to be unaccountable bureaucrats.”

Edit: to expand on what I mean. I read so much negativity and hyperboles here on the EU. It is full of problems absolutely but ”With a dictator you have full responsibility concentrated in a single person” is simply not true. Dictorships are master minds of shifting blame. EU has problems but what large organization works better? US? India? China? Brazil? I’m obviously biased as a European but I’d pick the eu any day.

plufz··on European Commission Revives Push for Encryption Backdoors in ProtectEU Strategy
Are you saying that historically very bureaucratic countries have been worse to live in than dictatorships? Not sure I follow actually. It sounds very strange to me. Isn’t also the first move of all dictators to take over all institutions with their own people?
plufz··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
I guess it has a little to do with your goals. Optimal trade economically or avoiding giving something that looks like a win to this type of politicians with the goal of avoiding re-electing trump. I don’t know what science say here.
plufz··on Show HN: Mcptoon – Token-efficient MCP CLI client
And they need some kind of downvote. Projects needs to be able to lose a star.
plufz··on Mistral Patent for “Code implemented tool calls”
Or it’s a patent for ”a method” of doing that, that is much more specific?
plufz··on Muse Glimmer: 30B-parameter model optimized for always-on local agent workflows
Yeah, it does feel a bit silly with my encrypted disks, encrypted backups, unique passwords, advanced router, etc, while I send everything I do in plain text to anthropic.
plufz··on I won't read LLM authored fiction
I don’t think it’s lunacy to care about the context around something and not just the final product.
plufz··on UEFA and its national associations will not participate in FIFA competitions
Still there are plenty of world wide organizations that are less corrupt than fifa.
plufz··on EU Fines Google $1.02B for Favoring Its Own Services
Im sure you are right, but I’m not sure what you mean. I can search for an address fine in search and I get an embedded map that I can click to open Google Maps. How does it work in the US?
plufz··on Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta warn against overregulating open-weight models
Im guessing parent meant more open in this particular case, i.e open weight models vs closed cloud hosted. Obviously china is not an open country.
plufz··on Apple targets dozens of OpenAI employees with legal letters
From what we know this far it’s quite easy to be on Apples side in this particular question, right?
plufz··on 'We used acid to sabotage Microsoft hyperscale data centre construction'
I think XR would prefer your solution as well. Still I can understand young people’s frustration when we after years and years of knowing about climate change do so little and so few laws of this type are enacted.

But I agree that their strategy is lacking. It would probably be easier to get people in general to support it if it didn’t affect them directly, sadly.

plufz··on Anthropic wants to develop its own drugs
Great. Sounds like a classic start of any post apocalyptic horror movie.
plufz··on Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5
What would happen if they mass distilled one of the really large local models like GLM 700b or deepseek 1.6t?
plufz··on Swiss voters reject proposal to cap population at ten million
Can you explain why you think xenophobia is low? My experience as a swed is that xenophobia and trying to avoid immigration often go hand in hand. You do not have a large Swiss right populist semi racist party like most other European countries have?
plufz··on Claude Desktop spawns 1.8 GB Hyper-V VM on every launch, even for chat-only use
It mounts specified directories into the vm from what I remember
plufz··on I built a vulnerable app and spent $1,500 seeing if LLMs could hack it
Maybe the difference is that just reading Wikipedia only help you part of the way. While an LLM could help you step by step (e2e) producing a functional weapon. And setting a more complex rule where claude tells you some things about this and not other is probably a lot more work for little gain?

But I have no idea. Just guessing here.

plufz··on What we lost when we stopped letting kids leave the front yard
I think you should consider the possibility that people who ”don’t mention it” does so because we don’t see the science pointing in that direction.
plufz··on Qwen3.7-Max: The Agent Frontier
Thanks a million!
plufz··on Qwen3.7-Max: The Agent Frontier
Which exact model are you using? And with which parameters and quant? And on what hardware? Are you using any specific MCPs or other tools to optimize performance like context-mode or dynamic context pruning? I’ve used local models a reasonable amount before but I’m just starting out with opencode. Haven’t had great results yet but really want this to work for simpler tasks. My opencode newly installed is also having iterm on 100% cpu in idle. :/
