pitiburi··on The Strange Story of Dual_EC_DRBG – suspected NSA backdoor (2007)
Great reading. Have you any idea how things evolved after that with those 4 proposed methods?
pitiburi··on Venezuela offers asylum to Snowden
I understand what you say. I really do. But you see, the thing is that the way things are, the chance of having future revelations from new whistleblowers is -I fear- very much related to the ways Snowden finds -or not- to avoid getting caught and jailed by his government.
pitiburi··on Venezuela offers asylum to Snowden
Here the video (in spanish) of the announcement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYLpk1S7nGU
pitiburi··on Venezuela offers asylum to Snowden
In the video you can see Maduro, Venezuela's President, making the official decision public. Of course, it's still to be seen if Snowden decides to go there, and how\when is he going to do it.
pitiburi··on Bolivia President's Flight: What Really Happened

pitiburi··on Snowden's destination is Venezuela through Havana
Well, if that is your point, it is indeed a valid one. I would say that there are not disagreements but a growing mismatch in the strategic goals of both countries. The more Venezuela looks for building a diversified economy (thus leaving the role of an oil-only USA-only extra-cheap supplier), the more USA will press Venezuela government to subdue it to do what they want. That has nothing to do with being rightist or leftist, or with human rights, or any of that. It's only about geopolitics and USA goals and needs. But yes, you are right, the recent elections haven't settled things.
pitiburi··on Snowden's destination is Venezuela through Havana
No matter how many times you repeat a lie, it is still a lie.
pitiburi··on Snowden's destination is Venezuela through Havana
Please correct yourself. There was a recount, and it ended up showing there was no irregularities. And No, it is not a partisan opinion. Unless you think Jimmy Carter and hundreds of other organizations controlling the vote AND the recount are part of a communist plot.
pitiburi··on Snowden's destination is Venezuela through Havana
That wouldn't be a problem, it is reported that "Nobody will detain Snowden at Sheremetyevo, if his visa is alright - police", so he is not in danger while waiting.
pitiburi··on Snowden's destination is Venezuela through Havana
In fact the source reported that “He chose such a complicated route in the hope that he would not be arrested on the way to his final destination of Venezuela,”
pitiburi··on Snowden's destination is Venezuela through Havana
It seems to me he had to board a plane quite in a hurry, and only after that they looked for a proper destination. This story is just beginning.
pitiburi··on Ancient Mars River 1-3 Feet Deep
We are, in just a few months, going from asking if there was ever water on Mars to being able to calculate how deep and fast were some streams. Most people doesn't realize it, but we are in the middle of a paradigm change. It is happening before our eyes.
pitiburi··on The myth of Nazi efficiency
Err... when discussing about an individual and if he is a good source or not, any valid position HAS to be ad hominem. Am I wrong?
pitiburi··on The myth of Nazi efficiency
I really, strongly recommend you to read "The Prize", by Daniel Yergin. Won the Pulitzer. If you want to understand the world and how it works, and the REAL reasons for the History to be what it is, this is it. Best book in existence for Diplomacy, global economy and geopolitics. You will be amazed. You will never look at the world the same way again.
pitiburi··on The myth of Nazi efficiency
Wow I am being downvoted all over the place, even in old posts... Btw, my point was that someone that achieved horrible things through (among other things) lying, should never be a source. Is not only about him: Lying was and is a fundamental aspect of his profession. And Yes, he was very effective. And Yes, also both a War criminal and a Peace criminal. An effective one though.
pitiburi··on The myth of Nazi efficiency
Competent on setting genocides, destroying democracies and lying to the whole world about it? Nice source you have there....
pitiburi··on Indian Coders Found Cheating in Google Code Jam?
Are you then implying that there is no corruption in the USA?
pitiburi··on [dead]
False.

pitiburi··on Why Did The Media Keep The Recent Peaceful Icelandic Revolution Quiet?
Oh, of course it's possible. It's just harder.
pitiburi··on How Doctors Die (2011)
The OP posted on that thread, so he knew this was a repost. Interesting article, but i fear for HN if reposting an old and interesting link you remember becomes a way of getting easy karma.
pitiburi··on Wikileaks claims Aaron Swartz was a source
It's so sad to see that this post has been flagged many times. I mean, it's unfair and against the guidelines because this is not the use that flagging was intended for (silencing what you don't want to be known/discussed, like anything having to do with Assange or Wikileaks). But over all, the flagging of this kind of post is just sad.
pitiburi··on Why Are People More Scared of Facebook Violating Their Privacy than Washington?
I think the sad true is very human, rooted in psychology: we can SEE facebook, but we do not see the government/Washington. People can relate way better with a danger when it is possible to see it, when you can feel it while it's present in front of you. You can SEE facebook and your data in the screen near their logo. From there to imagine someone looking at the same data (YOUR data) from within facebook, that is a jump that emotionally is very easy to take. On the other hand, even if you KNOW that the government is wiretapping everything, you don't have the emotional connection needed to see it as a danger. Of course you can understand how terrible it is, but the emotional link is -for most of us humans- not there. We just do not feel the danger "in our guts".
pitiburi··on We raised 200K € in 48 Minutes as a hardware startup in Germany
You will have some idea with this article: http://www.cloudecosystem.com/author.asp?section_id=2019&... It's exactly what many mid sized business in Germany and elsewhere are looking for, a Cloud solution very easy to handle but that it's local. Appealing product.
pitiburi··on We raised 200K € in 48 Minutes as a hardware startup in Germany
Very nice product! Sadly, most guys here do not speak German. I'm thrilled to see how things go for you guys!! And yes, it seems the future for the cloud is local.
pitiburi··on JPL director: Curiosity may have found organic, not biological molecules
That is from yesterday, and was trying to calm down expectations after the first famous “This data is going to be one for the history books. It’s looking really good.”. Today, the Director of the JPL (and so also Webster's) is the one saying that what they found are organic molecules. And he said it, by the way, as a way to calm down people, because what he was trying to explain was that it was not biological molecules, only organic ones. Of course, it's still a great deal, but it's not fossils or green little men.
pitiburi··on JPL director: Curiosity may have found organic, not biological molecules
?? I say he is a Director, InclinedPlane says he is only the "Head". The wikipedia article states without doubt that he is a Director. How is that supporting InclinedPlane? Pfff....
pitiburi··on JPL director: Curiosity may have found organic, not biological molecules
In the soil. They found organic molecules in the soil. So no methane but something solid I guess. And remember, they couldn't find methane yet on mars, Curiosity results were negative. http://www.nature.com/news/nasa-rover-yet-to-find-methane-on...
pitiburi··on JPL director: Curiosity may have found organic, not biological molecules
