Especially if you’re using the search tools to retrieve data, I think a properly indexed MarkLogic would be quite a bit faster, and still more reliable.
And not to get sued into the ground.
Or do you mean there are just more hybrids and electrics available now than there were 10 years ago?
Airbnb, however, is a huge corporation with lots and lots of money. It's not a myth for them.
If you don't like the law, you can vote, run for office, volunteer, donate to a candidate or nonprofit, or bother your elected officials. I'm no fan of lobbying ("corruption in anything but name"—sweetheart gigs for sympathetic representatives once they get out of office), but it's legal for AirBnb to do this too.
I'm guessing they expect to make it back on the occasional whale who can't control their spending on these types of games.
> isn't that the definition of tyranny? Seems more like just the definition of government. The German government seems like both the underdog and the less capricious actor in this case.
> As for the really expensive Apple Watch Edition, it seems like Apple is killing the product. The company probably wanted a flagship model to show that it was serious about fashion. But now that the Galeries Lafayette, Colette and Hermès sell the Apple Watch, Apple can focus on mass-market watches.

For me it's still about the organization, and singling out individuals is about as productive as yelling at customer support on the phone.
Just firing off a warning based on a simple text match seems high-handed and/or incompetent enough to consider leaving.
How, exactly? And if that's the case, isn't it already the failure that we're letting DB hold the world hostage?
The world would be a different place if post Lehman governments would have let banks collapse
Why does the solution to this scary, foreboding fate always revolve around making sure the bankers stay fabulously wealthy?
Why did anyone bother with the rule in the first place then? Wasn't this exactly the kind of situation it was supposed to cover? It's not like an Italian financial crisis was off the radar when this rule got written.
> Does that really mean we should let a massive bank (or multiple banks) go bankrupt?
We've let pretty much everything else go bankrupt in the past eight years. Maybe we should try a it with a bank or two?
> Given the global financial system is so interconnected, only a fool...
That's exactly what the banks said last time to get their bailouts. I think only a fool would believe them again.

That ridiculous expectation is probably a symptom of some pretty dysfunctional management in general.
Maybe if there were some way to break the stream up into individual media files, and then you could download one identical file from lots of different users at the same time.
This same numerical trick happened when the WHO classified red meat as a carcinogen "in the same category as" cigarettes, and it was stated that it increased your risk of some cancer by ~50% (or something), but the baseline risk is so low that it's a lot less dramatic than it sounds.
And you think this might argue in favor of continued criminalization?
Yeah, they advertise some kind of privacy protection as a product feature, and you can debate whether or not those advertising claims have merit, but it's a long way off from the CPDP conflict of interest that Aral describes.
Because they are in Europe, not China. It's a British article.
What would be useful is to know how so many people get to that place. What are the conditions that radicalized thousands to the point where they are willing to kill others just for being less Muslim than they see themselves?
I think the Post's use of the word 'blame' is meant to be provocative. Western powers obviously aren't scheming to create ISIS with wealth inequality, and improved wealth distribution obviously won't inspire ISIS to lay down their weapons. But if that inequality really is a cause, it's worth trying to fix it if you want to head off the next manifestation of ISIS.
