Yes, I knew I would need to live with some annoyances if I wanted to be an early adopter on this. I tried to adapt but in the end it was just too much of an inconvenience. And while my quest 2 is indeed currently collecting dust, I don't think headsets are a bad idea. Just that their current implementations are not good enough for my use case. Regardless of that, I'm optimistic about the future of using an HMD as your main general computing device's display. I'm willing to bet it will be a pretty common setup in 5 years or so.
I daily drove my quest 2 using immersed VR for a few months. In the end, the resolution was just not good enough for it to be better than my 3 monitor setup. But I'm looking forward to trying again in a couple of generations.
Everyone is talking about forums in the comments but what I really miss are mailing lists. Those were, for me, a much better user experience than both discord and the old forums.
I feel as if people have changed. I'm back in the office twice a week now and the good conversations and socializing parts just don't seem be happening like they were previously to the pandemic. I'm not sure what to think of it and maybe in some time, things will be more like it used to.
No vim mode is perfect, but they do make other editors bearable. I think vs code’s is the closest one I tried. Though I never really used it as my daily driver.
By that definition no tech company is a tech company. People search things on google because they want to find information , not because of the algorithms that bring that information. People use stable diffusion because they want to create images , whatever the cool ai technology behind it.
Niemeyer is a national treasure, but I find his role in helping create a capital in the middle of nowhere in Brazil extremely reprehensible. Brasília was created to keep politicians away from the big population centers and avoid protests.
I think it’s even worse than that. I’ve been locked out of my Uber account for years, and that is not an ad based company. It’s just that at a certain scale , it’s not cost effective to handle edge cases.
I totally agree with you. To clarify, your device is too expensive for me because I live in a country which has huge import taxes and a currency which is really devaluated in relation to the US dollar. If I could purchase it without paying those taxes , I would have already made a preorder. This was not a complaint about the price .
I've worked full time for the last 3 days on a quest 2 using Immersed. Although I'm liking the experience, it's still not as good as my regular 3 monitor setup. But there are already a lot of advantages and after this brief period, I firmly believe that this is going to be a very common setup in 2 or 3 years at most. I really hope Simula succeeds as I'd love an open and not-attached-to-facebook alternative to my current setup. Sadly, their current offerings are a little out of my price range.
100% this, I have a zsa moonlander and it was one of the best purchases I ever made. The adaptation period was really frustrating, but I can’t see myself ever going back to a traditional keyboard.
I'm not sure if it's possible to downgrade the OS, but I have an older LG model with WebOS 5 and I don't get any ads. So it might be something worth investigating.
I'm on the same boat. The only reason FF is still my main browser is because of multi account containers. If Vivaldi implemented that I'd switch instantly.
Don't, and they also shouldn't. I just got my first AZ shot last Friday, as many others did, and we are all much better off with it. No matter what, you can't understate the amount of good this vaccine did throughout the world.
