phant0mas··on Gamers Nexus: Intel 13th, 14th Gen CPU Oxidation Claims [video]
I am sorry if my post made you feel this way. I was simply stating that I noticed that all the related news where being deleted, but no intel related story was on the front page. It seems that I simply missed them.
phant0mas··on Gamers Nexus: Intel 13th, 14th Gen CPU Oxidation Claims [video]
It seems hacker news is deleting any attempt to post this.

We are organizing the Declarative and Minimalistic Languages Devroom on Sunday morning! We hope we see you all there!
phant0mas··on Intel Launches Intel Core 14th Gen Desktop Processors for Enthusiasts
It seems it's either exactly the same or barely an improvement from the 13th series https://youtu.be/2MvvCr-thM8?si=V8bOAF0RrajkXuth
phant0mas··on Hardcore Vulkan Debugging – Digging Deep on Linux and Amdgpu
To a backend software developer that wants to experiment on 3d graphics, on linux, what would one suggest? Opengl?
phant0mas··on Gnu/Hurd strikes back: How to use the legendary OS in a (somewhat) practical way
You can try using it through Guix :)
phant0mas··on Jak 2 Playable with OpenGOAL
I think around the time of Jak 1 development they were acquired by Sony. As long as Sony doesn't shutdown the project, it's good enough!
phant0mas··on Jak 2 Playable with OpenGOAL
I think he has an account here, he will see your comment:D
phant0mas··on Jak 2 Playable with OpenGOAL
probably Jak X as well
phant0mas··on Why Lisp?
John and Pierre are two of the smartest lisp programmers out there!
phant0mas··on Rant: Year of Linux on the desktop
I am using Linux exclusively for the last 8 years as my main os. Nowadays all the games I want run on Linux, even AAA ones. All the applications I need run on Linux. This is the best time to be a linux user. :)
phant0mas··on Game Boy SM83 CPU Core
I understand that at this point the hdl is only for simulation but could someone at one point run a full gb on an fpga?
phant0mas··on One Year with the Framework Laptop and NixOS
The only reason I haven't bought one yet is because I am waiting for a Ryzen version.
phant0mas··on Ask HN: At a peak of my dev career, I hate my life
Can't agree with this more. Training has really helped me put my emotions in check, and after a workout everything seems more clear. I have ended up going every day, and pretty much feel like a car hit me every day, but I have made so many friends just by having CrossFit as a common activity.

The other day, they even organized a hiking activity in the Parnitha mountains outside of Athens, and it felt like an adventure. It's a great community to be part of. My trainer even jokes I should be paying him a extra therapist fee.

Not to mention I met my, probably, future wife at the gym :)

phant0mas··on Why Linux is now my primary OS going into 2022
bf4 and bf1 run great on latest proton on arch with an amd gpu
phant0mas··on Disassembling Jak and Daxter (2017)
Yeah, but on the Vita they run around 20 frames, which is not the way they were supposed to be experienced. It's 60 everywhere else.
phant0mas··on Disassembling Jak and Daxter (2017)
And keep in mind the jak and daxter games run on 60fps on the ps2. The ps3 remaster and the ps4 emulated version also run at 60.
phant0mas··on Nextcloud Hub 21
Have you thought about using something like https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-share

Pretty cheap, it takes away the administration burden and you are the one in control :)

phant0mas··on Expert predicts a major hurricane hitting Houston would be “America’s Chernobyl”
My mother was a child in Poland during the Chernobyl disaster. In her family nobody has a history of cancer but she had breast cancer. And a lot of other health issues. Coincidence? Maybe.
phant0mas··on AWS Snowcone
Something related from my previous job, for data storage there's Serverpack 35 from Acromove. 120 TB per box, suitcase form factor, includes tracking and remote control. You seal it and you load it in courier car.

https://acromove.com/products/serverpack-35/

They also have Serverpack Edge which is supposed to do the same.

phant0mas··on Creating and using a custom Linux kernel on Guix System
You first have to specify the custom packages load path and then add the name of the package to your scheme system configuration.

For example:

You have a scheme file in /path/to/guix-custom which includes the declares linux-nonfree.

You run `export GUIX_PACKAGE_PATH=/path/to/guix-custom` and now guix will be able to find this package.

You use the module and include in the declaration

`(kernel linux-nonfree)`

PM and I will share my configuration :)

phant0mas··on The mystery of my desktop that locks up when it gets too cold
I would start by checking all the capacitors if they are in good condition (i.e not inflated). Then maybe search for a bad solder point.

phant0mas··on Myth Debugging: Is the Wii More Demanding to Emulate Than the GameCube?
Where these games actually developed with this purpose? Did doplhin existed back during the game's dev cycle and the developers say "we don't want our game on the dolphin emulator"? Or it just happens that they use an approach that is problematic to begin with?
phant0mas··on The Risks of Knowing Your Risk
This reminds me of my father. He was digging water wells for a living, but never checked his equipment. One day the link from the wire rope broke and he fell to his death 20 meters inside a well. This could have been avoided if he was taking care of his equipment. Hell even a simple check would have been enough.
phant0mas··on The Risks of Knowing Your Risk
I don't understand. Knowing the worst case scenario doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen, but helps you get prepared for it in case it does. Who would choose bliss over knowledge?
phant0mas··on Ask HN: Where do you find great remote developers?
I am currently working remotely for a company. Both the company and me are satisfied with my work. The way I found it is: a friend of mine I met at uni, told me that his boss was looking for new developers and was considering remote. I was interviewed and we agreed. I only go to the company once a month to plan the next one. The rest of the month we are using slack.
