petergreen··on AI Agents as Autonomous Founders
Now we need a new YC for agent founders with agent PG, agent Jessica,..
petergreen··on Show HN: Sourcetable – AI Spreadsheet and Data Platform
great product. congrats on the launch
petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
We're considering both, but mainly listening to the "community voice" right now :)

Linking to data on other sites (including archive.org) seems like a better way to go, than pulling everything in (as you mentioned, storage reqs become a challenge fairly quickly)

petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
Absolutely - we're adding the rest of the filters next. Just had to cut scope in order to launch in shorter time
petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
That is an awesome project!
petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
they do have their links all over the site, so yes. Just likely not enough to justify keeping the entire site/team running it.
petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
interesting, thank you for the insight on the use case. yes, this is fairly easy to implement.
petergreen··on SSD as Long Term Storage Testing
I wish I saw this in 2026!
petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
it's already on Archive.org https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/11zucov/dprevi...

but it's super slow and hard for the general public to access, and many JS features won't work.

petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
That's why we're linking to reviews for now, instead of pulling them in.

One way is to summarize DPR member reviews with GPT4 and keep just the summary / score up.

Ultimately we want to make an awesome review tool on top of this data and start collecting original reviews.

petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
We really had to step on the gas with this one. There has been just so much reverberations in the photo community that it became clear that it needs to be done (and quick).

This is a great effort! But yes, manual adding is slow, so the way is likely to crowdsource/automate it.

petergreen··on Show HN: DigicamFinder – open-sourced DPReview camera data
Exactly! :) The lenses are coming next, but if there are requests for specific categories of things that would be interesting, we're all ears!

We're thinking gadgets, cars, music equipment would be a good start.

petergreen··on DPReview.com to close
I'm actually proposing that we do!
petergreen··on Lets build DPReview a new home
We are "hackers" or what?

There should be plenty community interest and enthusiasts to keep the good thing going.

The 2 things we need to save are: 1. content (archiving is being worked on) 2. community (there needs to be a concentrated effort to bring everyone to a new place)

I've now laid out the plan in better detail here https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/120wkz4/lets_j...
petergreen··on DPReview.com to close
I'm suggesting "we do it ourselves" https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35284510

screw amazon, lets keep it ourselves! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35284510

If all users requested their data and then pooled it together, we can build a simple version of DPR to keep things alive. And maybe even build it into a new/modern version. I've put together a quick google form to see if people want to try this plan https://forms.gle/2aGQtnQGw6SJCqVE7

Obviously there's much more content than user data.. but i'm sure we can keep it alive too

petergreen··on People hate to register, some follow-up thoughts
people who give you feedback are the "fans", core users, who you're supposed to make the happiest and who'll stick around the longest, - says the old wisdom.
petergreen··on Your next conference should have real-time captioning
You should also have real-time audience feedback powered by MeetingPulse. MeetingPulse: Make your events interactive! http://meet.ps

(I just thought if you make the plug outrageously shameless it will pass for a joke, still being a plug though)

Jokes and plugs aside, it can produce a graph of audience's per-moment sentiment, that can be overlaid on the transcript/video, so you know how they felt at each moment of the talk.

Now that's some progress from last time. Good to see it coming along
petergreen··on Show HN: Fresh-baked rustic sourdough bread, delivered within 20 minutes
Finally. But i'd prefer to get every day a fresh loaf @7am, and then you can really save on delivery costs. And give me a $2-3/per smaller bread (cuz u don't go through it in a day) if I subscribe like yearly.

I'll give it a shot though.

petergreen··on Watch pg write an essay in real time
I'm a big fan. I referred 20+ people to it, so they gave me a pro acc. Love it, but it's not for writing at all.
petergreen··on Watch pg write an essay in real time
Thank you Paul. I'm missing an ability to collapse / uncollapse parts of written text (meaningfully), so you could see only the plan, or summaries of each chapter, or paragraphs, etc. It would require a very good interface to be useful, but imagine the implications for consuming / learning when knowledge is presented in this way.

honestly been wanting to build this for myself forever

petergreen··on Watch pg write an essay in real time
I'd really love to hear pg's comments of wether there is a piece of software, a tool, that could help him write the essays. Is there something that constantly comes to his mind when he writes, in form of "if only there was X so that I could Y".

Or anyone else's

"Of course, a small automobile would only be useful for the mites to drive around in, and I suppose our Christian interests don't go that far."

I so want to make and have this tiny car and give mites driving permits omg.

petergreen··on Amazon Prime Air
yep, especially being automatically shot by competitors' hunter war-drones.

But hey, this is evolution. Birds have the same problems. It'll be alright :)

petergreen··on Creditcard.js: a more usable credit card form
The "?" should be skipped on tabbing: from "Security code" jump straight to "Name"
petergreen··on Why Startups Are Sporting Increasingly Quirky Names
.. Lack of taste & imagination, primarily. And, as per recent discussion, lack of domain names.

I noticed myself instantly responding to a good company / startup name. It does the job to get me interested. If there's also a good logo - i'm more likely to like it. I realize i'm a picky designer though :)

petergreen··on The Art of Getting a 3 Letter Domain Name
"This is bad advice" only until google decides to tweak some rules. (by problems I assume you mean problems with google)

For me it's a matter of principle: I will choose common sense over google. Sure if you're selling SEO services, you're google's b*tch, but when you're building a visionary company (yes, blah-blah), to me it's important to get a good name, and not worry about some ugly .com domain.

Zerrply Tweekly Songza Vobbler.. etc

- that's what this leads to. No thanks.
