/* 2026-06-01 Dear diary, today I increased GLOBAL_WINDOW_PADDING from 8 to 16 because the user (who hurt my feelings with his crude language!) said that the app felt too crowded. */

I have no doubt that in the future AI code will be superior to human code. But today is not that day, and these projects that have never yet had human eyes on them are mostly shoddy pieces of work.
Opposing imperialistic rhetoric is a dumb hill to die on? If a person does not oppose fascist language, I have no faith that they will oppose fascist actions.
The law being slow is exactly why a guy like Trump in power is dealing so much damage. Nearly everything he’s done has been illegal, but the decisions often take so long that they have no effect.
The reason so few people care about climate change is that so few people truly understand it. They can see the grocery and housing bills, but CO2 in the atmosphere is some sort of invisible bogeyman to them, even though it’s a catastrophe waiting to happen.
What a weird, rose-tinted view of the US you have. Just because the markets are working and the US bungled its way into another war over oil doesn’t mean we should ignore the absolutely braindead political opposition to energy modernization.
I’ve been in the weird situation of working in a startup where the founder doesn’t use their own product. Needless to say I got out of there pretty quick.
When AI learns to only use concise, meaningful words instead of words for the sake of vomiting out more tokens, I suspect we’ll have finally achieved proper AGI.
Presumably because these system prompt “limitations” are not given to government contracts, and training it into the model gets increasingly expensive the more versions you have to maintain.
Virtually free, clean, decentralized energy is a far greater advantage than any of those disadvantages. It’s a strategic failure for the US to pass up on China’s solar overproduction and subsidization.
As the saying goes, don’t interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake.
We have AI sculpting and animating in the same way that we have AI illustrations - it’s better than the average human but miles and miles away from a professional artist. Most of the feel of a game requires intentional and consistent artistic design, which AI cannot yet replicate, 2D or 3D.
Usually FBX, USD, or GLTF files, if you’re in the gaming industry. AI models rarely do well there because deliberate topology matters for optimization and animation.
A good auto retopologizer (AI or not) would be one of the greatest possible innovations in 3D. Add to that better unwrapping and rigging, and you’ve eliminated most of the mechanical grunt work in 3D, leaving the truly important sculpting and animating to the artists.
Presumably it’s easier to iterate upon and judge solely on its own merits when it’s a standalone application. Maybe this isn’t optimized for user comfort, but for efficient product exploration (for now).
“I won at Russian Roulette therefore it’s a safe game” isn’t really a good argument. If Claude is within your risk profile, that doesn’t mean it’s a good fit everyone else.
One problem I’ve found is that AI will happily document the most trivial of implementation details as *immutable product design*, making it very poor at automated cleanup. I have to constantly coax it saying “WHY are we doing that? That’s not a requirement anybody asked for!”
Presumably the concern is that the profits are not fairly distributed among the people in that company - instead corporations are usually a mechanism for wealth accumulation.
Yeeeah, if the test on this site can’t say anything better than “it was created by a member of Mensa”, I’m gonna have to assume it’s a generally useless test.
Claude using documentation and comments as its personal diary is one of the most infuriating behaviors it exhibits.
Half the time it’ll record some temporary implementation quirk, which later sessions interpret as infallible product design requirements. Absolutely unsustainable.
