The one-click deploy to heroku button is in the works.
particlebanana··on Treeline (YC W15) Wants to Take the Coding Out of Building a Back End
You can take the code right now and download it and deploy it to any infrastructure provider you want! We provide a command line tool to sync code down and work locally or to package up and deploy.

co-founder here if anyone has any questions
particlebanana··on Postman 2.0 with Sync
I use Postman in my workflow on a daily basis. Thanks for making such a great product.

Here's a walk through from an earlier UI where we build a simple auth system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYJq37Qe6eM

Yeah no problem. If you want to go into some more details about production issues my email is in my profile.

Sails is very modular, if you wanted to replace the ORM with something else you could just replace the Waterline hook. Waterline is still pretty young and all of these features would be great to get added! We are always looking to add new contributors if anyone would like to help move some of these features along.
particlebanana··on Live Sails.js Course
Version 0.10 of Waterline now supports associations. It's not as robust as I would like it but its iterative and it's getting better all the time. As for issues piling up thats something that is tough to solve. There are only a handful of us and we try our best to get to issues in a timely manner but like any large open source project it's a battle. Our builds are also passing now :) https://travis-ci.org/balderdashy/sails/builds

I'm on the core team and can help answer any questions you have.
particlebanana··on Deploying SailsJS Apps in Seconds
Should be pretty easy to expand this out to work with any PaaS such as Heroku, Modulus, etc. For aws maybe we could work on getting it to deploy to Elastic Beanstalk? Might also be cool to generate a docker image.

Best of luck Zoli and thanks for sharing notes from your process.
particlebanana··on Koa – Next-generation web framework for Node.js
That has always been a config setting that should absolutely be turned off.
particlebanana··on Sails.js – Real-time MVC Framework for Node.js
I just recently split out the ORM, Waterline into a new project. The first step was to get API compatibility with the current ORM and a bit of sugar like lifecycle callbacks and custom instance methods.

Associations are next on the list of to-dos. It's still a very new ORM but I'm working on making it better. Check it out I'd love feedback or better yet pull requests.

In the upcoming v0.9.0 release we are using Grunt for assets.

This is in development mode for quick prototyping. You can turn it off in production and only use POST requests.

particlebanana··on How we keep GitHub fast
Maybe your thinking of the old FiveRuns Tune-Up app. I used that all the time when I was doing early rails projects. They got bought and shut down awhile ago but I found an old TechCrunch article on it.

particlebanana··on Vagrant plugin to take screenshots
For future reference if you have issues booting a vm you can add:

config.vm.boot_mode = :gui

to your Vagrantfile to have Virtual Box boot into a window instead of headless.

particlebanana··on The Linuxification of Webapps
I went in thinking this would be about the process model gaining traction with the new release of Heroku only to find a rant on native vs mobile iOS apps. Horrible title.
particlebanana··on Ask HN: Dropping out of college and moving to SF
I completely agree with transferring to a different school. There are plenty of places outside of San Francisco with great startup scenes and great schools. Cities like Austin, Boulder or Boston all have growing startup cultures and incubators where you can stay in school and find great people to pursue an idea with.
particlebanana··on Ask HN: Where do you find good tech talks?
http://ontwik.com/ has some pretty decent ones and it's updated pretty regularly
