parasanti··on Bye YouTube, Hello PeerTube [video]
Before you think of how awful this site is, remember youtube in the beginning as well. This could be a great alternative, especially if they don't remove people without a good explanation, sell your personal info or try to sway an opinion.
parasanti··on Farming robot kills 100k weeds per hour with lasers
They use resources that other plants need. They can also smother other plants since weeds are fast growing.
parasanti··on Twitter permanently bans My Pillow CEO
Wow. So what happens when they are done banning the current batch of things they don't want people to see? What is next for Twitter to tell us how to think?
parasanti··on Show HN: Build a DIY license plate reader with machine learning
I was thinking the same thing. If it was all localized to a Pi then yes, but outside services isn't really DIY so much. Maybe half DIY if such a thing.
parasanti··on Live View of Hurricane Laura
Besides the flooding and people either stranded or stuck at their location for weeks, not a ton of damage. The O&G infrastructure is pretty secure there.
parasanti··on Ask HN: Thoughts on new GitHub layout?
I think it is horrible. I feel it's harder to read overall and harder to navigate. I am of the feeling, if it's not broken.....
parasanti··on Humans Not Invited

parasanti··on Windows93
Defrag works as expected.
parasanti··on Weather.com Has Become the Pawn of a Data Theft Scheme
I am still amazed weather.com exist. Go to weather.gov and get everything you need without all the ads, tracking and bs of that other site.
parasanti··on [dead]
The author is racist and blaming middle aged white men for agile problems.
parasanti··on Anomaly Detection on data streams, in one line of Bash
Misleading title but nicely explained implementation of the algorithm (Gaussian-distribution model) to quickly do anomaly detection.
parasanti··on Twitter to ban political advertising
I wonder how shareholders feel about this? Also, is Twitter going to be neutral on what politicians it selects that get's reach?
parasanti··on U.S. carried out secret cyber strike on Iran after Saudi oil attack: officials
This "anonymous source" who is disclosing classified information should be punished. This is not good for anyone.
parasanti··on GitHub and US Government Developers
Why is this just now being called out? The current administration is doing the same as the Obama administration.
parasanti··on China’s Breeding Giant Pigs That Are as Heavy as Polar Bears
I have many head but "Brisket & Ribeye" go to slaughter in November. I was just outside petting them and making sure they have great quality grass to eat.
parasanti··on Show HN: Search Engine on the Top of Twitter to Find Jobs

parasanti··on Map Shows How a Location Has Changed over the Past 750M Years
I was just looking at the same thing. Also another bit of info...if you live east of 35, you only need 10 acres for an agriculture exception. West, you need 15 acres. Those pesky rocks.
parasanti··on Trump Tweeted a Sensitive Photo. Internet Sleuths Decoded It
"undisciplined sharing of the photo"...How do you know this was the case? Let's think about this for a second...This wasn't a picture of a picture. This was the image in the brief. This image would have needed to be shared onto a different network that has access to Twitter or a phone with twitter access. That image would have needed to be removed from the brief, shared onto that system and then tweeted. You think this wasn't planned? The President isn't going to go through so many steps just to tweet a photo himself. This was done with staff who knows the classification.
parasanti··on Osquery: SQL-powered operating system instrumentation, monitoring, and analytics
I read your comment before clicking the link...I thought for sure we had a new OS that was in SQL...I was actually excited and definitely plausible.
parasanti··on Why Is Joe Rogan So Popular?
HN isn't going to like that comment but it's true.
parasanti··on Start Your Own ISP
I found out the hardest part was finding the backbone or a provider. I am in the middle of deploying a community WISP but finding a provider besides Spectrum has been the biggest hurdle.
parasanti··on Fuck me: iOS’ Notes app censors handwritten swears
Why is it bad for a child to see a swear word? Shouldn't they know what that swear word is and why they shouldn't use it?
parasanti··on Watch SpaceX's StarHopper hop 20 meters untethered
Launch delayed till tomorrow.
parasanti··on The Brotherhood of the Ad Blockers
With always connected VPN on my mobile to my home, blocking ads on mobile works well. Also when connected to hotspots on my portable devices. Great point about work though.
parasanti··on A Closer Look at North Korea’s Ullim Tablet
It would seem other tools will fix that "loophole".... The first is a piece of software called “Red Flag.” It runs in the background and takes a screenshot every time the user opens an app.

I would think opening the camera and taking a picture of another tablet would draw suspicion.

parasanti··on LibreTaxi – A free and open source alternative to Uber and Lyft

parasanti··on Show HN: A Bot to Deploy to AWS, Digital Ocean Etc.
Thanks, will do! We are starting a new dev team and I would like to get these practices going immediately instead of "oh, I lost the code cause it was on my laptop" (which happens right now)
parasanti··on Show HN: A Bot to Deploy to AWS, Digital Ocean Etc.
Any suggestions on reading material/designs for deploying a complete CI process for a new development team using these newer processes/applications?
