paintrayne··on Coca-Cola Funds Scientists Who Shift Blame for Obesity Away from Bad Diets
>WHO recommend getting it below 50g, ideally 25g per day.

Really? Because that is how you get into ketosis. That is not just low carb, that is ultra low carb.

I think you may be mistaken. I have been in that range and it is extremely difficult.

Tens of thousands of years of human history disagree with your assessment.
paintrayne··on How Soylent Ships a Trillion Calories per Month
I haven't seen any compelling evidence that Soylent is healthy, given that there are not even agreed upon RDA for most nutrients or macro nutrients.
paintrayne··on American Trailer Parks: The owners are getting rich
The answer you are looking for is higher taxes on the owners of trailer parks to fund universal education, not higher rents on the people who live in trailer parks.

Really? So would you like to explain the widespread trend of increasing adult onset diabetes, and do you consider having diabetes to be healthy or unhealthy?

>not sure why it couldn't happen again.

Drones. And you better believe the powers that be will criminalize any movement that might level the playing field. The window of opportunity for change is closing.

Then why is Steam able to sell so many titles? Gamers are willing to pay, just not $50 a pop. Likewise with buying music. Not $20 for an album, but a $1 a song.

Just because at one point the gates existed to extort customers into paying such high prices doesn't mean such prices should exist indefinitely. Change the pricing models and get rich, people do it all the time.

paintrayne··on Don’t make bicyclists more visible. Make drivers stop hitting them
Unintentional doesn't mean no fault. The fact that it is standard usage is the whole point -- it shouldn't be. Drivers do not pay attention, they do not look when they change lanes, and they hit bicycles and motorcycles and it is called an accident, as if the driver had no control of their vehicle.

These are not the most sympathetic victims so people shit on them. Welcome to the USA. It's a real shame because the escalation of force there was entirely unnecessary. Some comments even sarcastically ask, what should the police have done with the kid who refused to get out? Just leave?

Obviously not. But the kid wasn't going anywhere and they could have waited for a legal guardian or negotiated further before escalating with the use of force. Not to mention the gratuitous use of TASER when the kid was attempting to comply.

Unfortunately, my ultimate take away is that people who object to police abuse are in the minority. If someone is perceived as a punk or criminal, it is open season. Democracy at its finest.

I'd really like to hear from a European counterpart how they think this scenario would have gone down across the pond. Not like this, I am sure.

What good are cameras and recordings if the citizens are OK with what they see?
