p6v53as··on Coding, Fast and Slow: Developers and the Psychology of Overconfidence
> I have vivid memories of that time — my self-image had been wrapped up in being “a good programmer”, and here I was just hideously failing. I lost sleep. I had these little panic attack episodes.

I don't understand these people. If I'm in a situation where I am way above my estimate, I just accept that the estimate was wrong and make sure I make constant progress. It will get done when it will get done.

p6v53as··on Ask HN: I am programmer, i wan't to die, what can i do?
Do you have an explicit reason or it's just the suicidal thoughts?
p6v53as··on 'Disabled' Gamer Banned from Twitch.tv After Standing Up Mid Stream
Maybe you are streaming at twitch too for donations? I bet many would subscribe to a blind gamer. Just be sure not to react to stuff on the screen or you will be banned.
p6v53as··on Why your games are made by childless, 31 year old white men
Being a game developer is similar to being an astronaut or a pilot sometime ago. Just wait a bit and it will solve itself out.
p6v53as··on I hired someone with Asperger's – now what?
"I have Asperger's: I am just like you"

Um, not to hate or anything, but there is a reason it is called autistic syndrome. Autistic people lack the ability to form a "theory of brain", which means they just do not understand other people's intentions that well. You can't ignore this fact and hope it will go away.

p6v53as··on Why Chemotherapy That Costs $70,000 in the U.S. Costs $2,500 in India
In other words americans partly pay for indians for drugs by having these patent laws.
p6v53as··on Poll: Male or female or other
Seems like gender ratio is not changing over time. But, to my surprise, there are actually more females than I expected.
p6v53as··on BitCon: Don't
So the problem with bitcoins is that it can be harder to evade taxes and buy illegal stuff? I don't know how it is in USA, but where I live it would be very useful feature of currency. However I remain unconvinced even of the arguments that it could be traced.
p6v53as··on Bitcoin Is Fundamentally Flawed
The article claims it is possible to know who makes transactions, but does not explain it. Anyone have any more detail?
p6v53as··on The Lie Hollywood Loves to Tell
It has a flaw of requiring a person to have friends.
p6v53as··on Google Maps a Japanese Nuclear Ghost Town
Looks like a regular town in where i live, East Europe.
p6v53as··on FBI wants real-time Gmail, Dropbox spying power
That reminds me once again of Dotcom's proposal to encrypt almost everything to be safe from the government persuasion.
p6v53as··on FBI wants real-time Gmail, Dropbox spying power
Just because it is not plain text does not mean it is secure.
p6v53as··on Ad industry threatens Firefox users with more ads if Mozilla moves on tracking
We will soon have these ad networks to enforce us with laws that prohibit adblocks all together by calling the act of blocking ad as "piracy" and "theft" since we are not "paying" for the content provided. We can't let that happen, these networks must be put down as fast as possible till while they can't influence the government. Oh, wait, it's too late...
p6v53as··on Children should be allowed to get bored
Isn't boredom just response of a body that what he is doing is not effective? So it encourages going doing something that's more effective, efficient and productive.
p6v53as··on How to solve the problem that the topmost comments get all upvotes
Idea is good, but realization is far from perfect.
p6v53as··on Chrome Inspector Detector
I was using chrome for many years, almost from the start. But switched to firefox a week ago, because my chrome started to feel more and more laggy, both on home and work computer. I'm not disappointed yet.
p6v53as··on Playhaven developer fired for sexual jokes
We, male developers, actually benefit from her actions. One guy may have lost his job, not a big deal, gonna get another, after all this publicity he got quite famous, but the main thing is that less woman will want to take the job of software development, less employers will want to hire woman because of the possible problems like this and so less concurrency for us and bigger salary.
p6v53as··on Earth Hour is a colossal waste of time — and energy
Earth hour is just a way to draw attention to the subject.
p6v53as··on The RSS Apocalypse
> It would have been better for the Internet if Reader had never been at all.

If not for the Google Reader, I wouldn't use RSS at all.

p6v53as··on More HIV 'cured': first a baby, now 14 adults
This is quite an achievement to go from no cure whatsoever, to a cure that works on 1% of people. Because now you don't need to look for things that works, you need to improve something you have.
p6v53as··on Why I'm switching back to Firefox
The ultimate parameter for me is speed. As much as I love Mozilla's open source policy, I just can't use it because it is slower. RAM is not a problem to anyone, so I prefer more RAM used than slower performance.
p6v53as··on Please tell us what features you'd like in news.ycombinator
Change the functionality so that "Unknown or expired link." would not appear any more.
p6v53as··on Ask HN: Specialist or "Jack of all trades"
Specialization is the driving force of advancement.
p6v53as··on Kaspersky Labs: How scary can an old school programmer be?
A conclusion that if they create good graphics with 64kb then they could be able to steal your money from the bank is pretty huge slippery slope logical fallacy.
