Embark was founded by a lot of the old school DICE guys. Really excited for what they bring to the table.

Also iirc they are big on Rust and are supporting a lot of grassroots projects in the Rust gamedev space

It’s a matter of principle. If everybody were more concerned about their privacy there’d be less dark patterns from the these giant ad companies. Social media, Google, etc…

I’m a young engineer and I’m always happy to take on the grunt work to help the team as long as I get a little time to help on big picture stuff as well. I’m worried that I might be looked down on by more senior engineers who might think I’m just trying to avoid the more brain challenging work

Not sure here but the local k8s setup included with docker desktop uses your local registry. The downside is you have to use docker desktop……

Is there any kind of parallel for this kind of experience. I’ve always thought the rigidity and discipline of military life would suit me well. This is another reason why I would love to join up. I have a family and a career now though and joining up would be a selfish decision

My friends and I rode our bikes in a several mile radius around my suburban home when I was ~10 in the mid 2000’s. I never see kids doing stuff like that anymore. Makes me really sad that they’re missing out on something that I still cherish the memory of today. But also maybe kids just enjoy different things nowadays

I’ve been feeling a similar sentiment. This sprint some higher up agile coach or whatever their title is has been observing our team and making sure we follow the agile law to a T at the cost of real work efficiency.

I have a coworker that does it constantly and it bugs me to no end. I have to respond, they then ask what they were going to ask seconds or minutes later. Effectively breaking my concentration twice and making things take longer than they should.

I think it’s commendable to be pushing native purpose-built apps in this day and age.

My wife and I are too. Though we had our first child last week. She said earlier in the pregnancy that she would like to keep in the workforce. But as each day passes with the baby it feels more likely she'll decide to be a full-time mom. Either decision is fine in my book :)

I felt the same way about bullet journal-ing. Got very excited after seeing other people's awesome journals and then got very discouraged after seeing my ugly journal.

It's just badly worded. I remember following this blog last year when new articles were being posted.
