This article really hit home for me because this is exactly what my current career consists of. I am coverting old AS400s running RPG to QNX servers running C. And like the Cobol Cowboy's say the financial institutions will pay what ever you demand. I owe all this work to a college professor that encouraged me to thoroughly learn RPG for this very reason. So the time a prospective employee takes to ascertain a problem and implement a fix is far more valuable then the amount of times he/ she takes to solve the problem.

Where I'm employed the company's philosophy is employee time + salary earned must = overall maximum productive results. When a prospective coders interviewed the time spend debugging and recompiling takes precedence over how many times he/she attempted to fix the issue.

Now each release I just update the relevant variables compile load and run. I see no problem with using my grey matter to it's full potential.
I like Marwa Hassanein physiology. The worlds past generations have always fought over physical borders and resources. Our generation is learning to live, work and share with out these physical borders. I true believe time is our friend.

I was a computer science major, not an economic major so just asking. Couldn't so form of crypto currency perhaps become the worlds one and only currency? This seems to me an easy way to monitor and adjust in/for real time as needed.
I work for a financial software company in QA and I have no qualms admitting right after arriving I wrote a program to test the new release code for me. Each release all I have to do is change some variables load and run. I see nothing wrong with using my grey matter to its fullest potential.
