Koreader interface with syncthing is not that user friendly to non techs, very powerful can do anything but i don't think i would advise that to non techie
ossusermivami··on Ubuntu 26.04
icaza hasn't dev or used gnome for like decades.... and i am not sure why you assume the intent of miguel like that.
ossusermivami··on GitHub's Fake Star Economy
what is this one about:

> When nobody is forking a 157,000-star repository, nobody is using it

that is completely not true, i don't fork a repo when i use it, only when i want to contribute to it (and usually cleanup my forks)

ossusermivami··on Pebble Round 2
garmin is arguably one major smart watch vendor and has a great battery life
ossusermivami··on Examples are the best documentation
when possible (python, golang and many others) I just go and read the source..
ossusermivami··on Gmail will no longer support checking emails from third-party accounts via POP
I wonder why people come to conclusion like that to that specific problem.

surely the user may knows that there is probably zillions (by that i mean a lot) of users using gmail via IMAP (at least the enterprise accounts) don't you think it's maybe something else you are doing that flags your account

ossusermivami··on Show HN: Omarchy on CachyOS
This Omarchy remind me of Linux-Mandrake from back in the day, a collection of badly written shell script but that "works"
ossusermivami··on PYX: The next step in Python packaging
i wonder if nix has been considered
ossusermivami··on PHP 8.5 adds pipe operator

ossusermivami··on Firefox 120 to Firefox 141 Web Browser Benchmarks

ossusermivami··on Differential Coverage for Debugging
what about just doing a git diff ? that would see the method was not called before?
ossusermivami··on Gixy: Nginx Configuration Static Analyzer
nice idea but i get that error when i try to use the docker image (on a nixos env)

NameError: name 'SRE_FLAG_TEMPLATE' is not defined. Did you mean: 'SRE_FLAG_VERBOSE'?

(using the mentioned docker command on README $ docker run --rm -v `pwd`/nginx.conf:/etc/nginx/conf/nginx.conf getpagespeed/gixy /etc/nginx/conf/nginx.conf)

ossusermivami··on The State of Vim
:! itself has not been stripped from neovim, it's the "interactive" :! that has been stripped (as the OP said)

i.e if you do :!bash in vim you enter bash in neovim you won't

ossusermivami··on EmacsConf 2024
it's interesting to see how emacs have seen a renaissance lately with AI there is so many good modes to interact with LLM not the way the other editors does it but more of a Emacs way. for example gptel https://github.com/karthink/gptel
ossusermivami··on Red Hat and Microsoft Bringing RHEL to WSL

ossusermivami··on I Self-Hosted Llama 3.2 with Coolify on My Home Server
ai generated blog post (or reworded, whatever) are kinda getting very irritating, like playing chess against the computer, it feel soulless
ossusermivami··on Everything you need to know about Python 3.13 – JIT and GIL went up the hill
Is it related to the mojo language work? would that affect how they track the language features?
ossusermivami··on Developing Inside a Container (2022)
I use devenv.sh and generate oci containers out of it, which give me kinda the best of both worlds!

(nobody in my team use vscode or devcontainers but enjoy using docker)

ossusermivami··on Open source 'Eclipse Theia IDE' exits beta to challenge Visual Studio Code
it never has been my experience! i have used lazyvim distro for the last year or so and run some :Lazy update for time to time and usually i just need to close neovim and restart and it will all be working well..

I think i had an issue when they moved to conform.nvim from the deprecated language server based method but that's maybe about it (I deleted the nvim cache and it was all good after)

ossusermivami··on Open source 'Eclipse Theia IDE' exits beta to challenge Visual Studio Code
just use lazyvim[1] and be done with it! some people takes care of the compatibility and they are probably more competent than you (i mean a newcomer who starts writing their nvim config)

ossusermivami··on New MacBook Setup
i agree with you, one of the reason i switched back to linux (fedora)
ossusermivami··on New MacBook Setup
alt+tab on gnome use that same concept of osx!

but i actually use a tiling WM the way OSX intended the user to its own desktp, with a bunch of virtual desktop and full screen app

ossusermivami··on Emacs Easydraw – drawing tool inside Emacs
I always used picture-mode for that but i may look at this,

ossusermivami··on Apple's risky bet on CarPlay

obviously i rather have carplay if i could but i am worry about security implication, plugging to a car i don't know

ossusermivami··on Fedora Linux 40
I like Fedora but I only wish it was supporting rpi5 without any kernel hacks..

currently using raspbian with nix on top of it, it's not bad but rather have something more seamless

ossusermivami··on Difftastic, a structural diff tool that understands syntax
