oscardelben··on The Way of the Dodo — How to Sell 10,000 iPad Cases at $60 Each
Because they either don't know about the problem or they think that the current alternatives are too hard to implement (or don't know them either).
oscardelben··on Twitter feed of Hacker News stories as soon as they reach 20 points
This is actually useful. Care to share how you implemented it?
oscardelben··on Nigerian Internet use increasing
It's interesting to see that 1.5 Billion of people have access to the internet today.
oscardelben··on An analysis of GPLed code in Thesis
The derivative work must be released under GPL code as well, and thesis isn't http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
oscardelben··on Mathematics for Computer Science - Lecture Notes
I've read that book although I admit I did not take the final challenges. Still I found that to be a very interesting book, very well written where you can actually learn something useful.
oscardelben··on Have you ever Googled "anagram"?

oscardelben··on Facebook suggests I "reconnect" with a dead friend
That happens to me as well with my cousin. Apart from the deceased facebook page that they already have, they could avoid sending messages if they see that a user hasn't logged in in the past 2 months for example. Either that person is no longer with us or he or she has decided to give up facebook. Either way it's annoying for everyone involved.
oscardelben··on Request HN: Please all update contact info in your profile
I guess I'm one of them (ruby obfuscation). I'm going to change it now.
oscardelben··on Request HN: Please all update contact info in your profile
I'm not sure how Reddit does, but how would you deal with spam?
oscardelben··on Startups: Don’t Hire Frontend or Backend Webdevs
It's not that hard compared to other skills. Anyway web development includes a lot of stuff, and you can really go low level if you have to implement algorithms and address scalability.
oscardelben··on [dead]
I'm waiting for a torrent to be made available.
oscardelben··on How can a website cost £35 million? You’d better ask the government
Italia.it costed 45,000,000 of euros and was developed by IBM. The project was also a big failure.
oscardelben··on Poll: What is your religion?
Honestly I think it's a cultural thing. It's easier to just leave what you don't know to an unknown thing called "god". That's just laziness imo and fear, and probably hope that we are somehow immortal.
oscardelben··on Poll: What is your religion?
How do you know?
oscardelben··on Spend $120K in angel investing instead of MBA studies
Some people would argue that they would be lost anyway by choosing an MBA.
oscardelben··on Youtube comments susceptible to XSS
It's not enough apparently, the name of the video is also vulnerable.
oscardelben··on Youtube comments susceptible to XSS
they disabled comments, but I just read this on /b/:

Create video response Name of video = script of choice ??? WORKING, VERIFIED AND UNABLE TO BE FIXED EASILY BY YOUTUBE.

So stay away from youtube for now

oscardelben··on Ask HN: How can I get the most out of SICP?
It took me several months to go through it, and I skipped the exercises in the last chapter (and some others). Giving yourself a timeframe is not a good idea in this case, as you would probably spend around one year if you do all the exercises.
oscardelben··on Hashrocket execs (not Obie) charged in $425 million mail fraud case
Here in Europe there's a company that sends out something similar. For example in Italy it's called "Registro italiano delle imprese in internet". I mistakenly registered with them and they started sending me invoices of more than $1000 dollars each (which I never paid).

I did some research and they have been declared illegal in many countries but somehow never got charged. If these guys are doing the same thing, then I don't know if it's illegal or not in the USA but it surely is something unethical with the only goal of spilling money from people.

oscardelben··on The Ultimate Guide To A/B Testing
What I was trying to say is that in a "definitive guide" about ab testing I would expect to find some of it. You've done a great job linking all the external resources, and I probably couldn't have done it better, but I'd personally have appreciated more about statistical significance so that I could have understood the links you have included better.
oscardelben··on The Ultimate Guide To A/B Testing
I think statistical significance is the more important thing in a/b testing, but they only included links to external sources. It's hard to tell the difference between coincidence and real difference between two versions when changing simple things like button colors and I still feel ignorant about the subject.
oscardelben··on Ask HN: What's going on at google?
I can browse google groups again after resetting cookies etc (not just cache), but I still can't access gmail, neither via http nor https.
oscardelben··on Ask HN: Methods for finding niche business opportunities
I paid $97 for the product. I agree that their page looks scammy, but I bought the product after a friend recommendation.

I usually never buy products like that because in most cases I could recreate it myself in ruby in a few hours, and to be honest that was my intention initially.

However I was impressed about the overall quality of the product and decided to buy.

They also have a series of videos that were very useful to me in case you are interested: http://www.noblesamurai.com/dojo/marketsamurai/

oscardelben··on Ask HN: Methods for finding niche business opportunities
I use market samurai. I wrote a review about it today http://freestylemind.com/market-samurai

It's a genuine review and I really recommend it for internet marketing. That said, there's my affiliate code in it but you can access the product directly from http://www.marketsamurai.com/

oscardelben··on Kindle: Buying Books by Accident
I once bought a book by accident but I was able to get a refund on the next page.
oscardelben··on 'First to Do It' vs. 'First to Do It Right'
That sounds good in theory, but you're making an assumption that people want to make a video call with you at any time during the day.

Example: you're at work and your phone rings. Do you prefer doing a quick chat and get back to work asap or showing your face and doing a nice conversation? Same thing goes when you're outside and possibly at home.

The only time when this is going to work is when two people have previously committed to do a video call.

Again, I'm making an assumption too, only time can tell.

oscardelben··on Ask HN: I'm 20 and I need advice.
Live your life now, try to do the things that you want instead of waiting for the future to come. 35 May never come and you would waste a big part of your life. That doesn't mean don't plan for the future, but rather don't put much pressure of it.

Unfortunately I think that eating would cause the opposite effect as your body would need more resources in order to digest food.
oscardelben··on 'Remove Google Background' surges to number 2 in Google Trends
Yes, but our brain likes to wait for something to complete, especially if it takes less than 3 seconds.
