oscardelben··on My life in Accenture before startups
Interesting. Can you elaborate on review & print code?
oscardelben··on Third richest man in China lives on $20 a day, eats same meals as workers
I think that you can be interesting enough to be worth an article even though you may have some other weak trait. All of us have some.

In this specific case I can assure you that smoking is seen differently in various countries. For example when I visited the US I was astonished to see that smoking was prohibited near most buildings, etc, which is totally a good thing, it's just not like that everywhere else.

You may want to investigate what the halo effect is about. It's not very rational to judge a man as a whole from just one trait.

oscardelben··on How a 3 week business trip to the US got reduced to 3 hours
Those questions appeared in a questionaire given to everyone inside the airplaine. A friend of mine told me that it wasn't the first time he saw that questionaire. It became kind of a joke after it.
oscardelben··on Dual N-Back Training for Intelligence
It's the same as in other dual n back games
oscardelben··on How a 3 week business trip to the US got reduced to 3 hours
Can you elaborate into how that could be a problem?

I don't know why you're being downvoted, but I can confirm what you said, being an italian citizen myself.

That said, the first time I went to the US with a Tourist visa I couldn't believe how many questions they asked me. Most of them things like: "Are you a terrorist? Do you hate America?, and things like that". I think those questions as are stupid as they are an insult to one's intelligence. The boarder police also was doing their best to try to trick me and my friends into saying that we were there for work. There's something definitely wrong with all of this.

oscardelben··on Ask HN: Apart from Hacker News, what else you read?
Less Wrong.
oscardelben··on Tell HN: Please bring back comment scores
I would make it an option.
oscardelben··on Building a Web Application that makes $500 a Month – Part I
you want to do some a/b testing ;)
oscardelben··on There's a new version of Google Analytics available
Yes, I naively tried to access it with my iPad. Of course no data was showing up.
oscardelben··on Fooling myself to work
One tip that I'm experimenting right now is to stay at the computer only when I know exactly what I'm going to do. Thinking and breaks have to be done out the computer with old pen and paper.

oscardelben··on Poll: Display points on comments?
Why not making it an option?

oscardelben··on Move beyond behavioral targeting: using mouse movements to read visitor’s mind
Nope, 4chan confirmed their involvement.
oscardelben··on FBI wants public help solving encrypted notes from murder mystery
Interesting: http://groups.google.com/group/sci.crypt/browse_thread/threa...
oscardelben··on CAPTCHAs decrease conversion rates
A lot of targeted attacks use humans to decipher captchas. Hell, a lot of programs used by internet marketing will display a captcha to decipher every 2 seconds in order to post in a forum/website. Invisible fields are in my opinion a much better solution, but who cares what I think, did you try other solutions before calling them silly?
oscardelben··on I think tumblr has a huge security hole
By looking at the code !quality, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they have no tests at all.

oscardelben··on Stuck In The Middle With Bruce (2001)
I've found this article on less wrong. It's written by a magician, but it's really highly relevant for startups.
oscardelben··on iOS Libraries
A few days ago I released the DateCalculations library which was inspired by Ruby on Rails calculation library. I'll leave it here just in case: https://github.com/oscardelben/DateCalculations

I played with Cocos2d and I liked it a lot. Do you know the differences between Cocos2d and the sparrow framework?
oscardelben··on Steve Jobs' old resume from his mac.com page
Success is a habit. I bet that most successful individuals who started from scratch, if sent in a foreign country with no connections or resources at all, would recreate their level of success given enough time.
oscardelben··on Square Now Processing $1 Million In Mobile Payments Per Day
From the square website I can't understand if square can be used by international users. There's nothing about that in the faq so I created my account but now I'm not able to create a new identity as it asks for a us address.

Edit: apparently they're working on it, great.

oscardelben··on Show HN: Calendar for the Mac App Store
Is this app available outside the states? I can't open the link from Italy and the App Store doesn't redirect me to the right one.
oscardelben··on 37Signals website in 2000 when they had 4 people and no DHH
Aesthetically I would say it was a good looking website even by today's standards.
oscardelben··on Tell me why I suck
I hope not, I hope this trend stop. It's ridiculous that you can get sued for everything these days.
oscardelben··on Apple to Unveil IPad 2 on March 2 in San Francisco
Don't worry, your first gen iPad will be perfectly fine and you'll continue to do all the fascinating things that you're already doing with it. Do you change your iPhone/macbook (if you have them) every time a new one comes out? I hope not, and that's the same with the ipads.
