orangesquirrel··on Disney, Netflix, and more are fighting FTC's 'click to cancel' proposal
Ahh didn't mean to come across as needlessly harsh. I like the country BTW, and I conceded that this idea might be a good one. Most people are acutely familiar with many of the faults of America, and are probably less so with those of smaller governments. I think my comment was coming more from a "wow maybe they actually did something right with tech?" perspective than anything else, similarly to how I might react if Apple was lauded for making strides in right to repair or something like that, or Google was praised for protecting user privacy, and I hoped to provide some context that most people would lack. But if my comment was unhelpful or unfair then I apologize.
orangesquirrel··on What's Salesforce? (2019)
I made a similar observation while working at a Fortune 500 company that used Salesforce. Decisions about the company's Salesforce implementation were clearly made by people who didn't care too much about data entry UX. The problem was that they did care greatly about data entry -- and data entry, at least in part due to being needlessly cumbersome, tended to fall far short of expectations.
orangesquirrel··on Show HN: Paletter – Create Professional Color Palettes from a Single Color
I just purchased this app after reading this comment and was very disappointed to discover that it is not a native app, but an Electron app.

Furthermore, maybe I am missing something, but where are the color management settings?

orangesquirrel··on How to make pizza like a Neapolitan master
For anyone interested in more information:

I recently discovered Vito Iacopelli's excellent YouTube channel on (predominantly Neapolitan) pizza making. He runs a Neapolitan pizzaria in Los Angeles and covers things like stretching techniques, tests with different ingredients and fermentation processes, and methods specifically designed to be used at home.

orangesquirrel··on An alternative to using Google Analytics on your website
I am (1) a current Photoshop CC subscriber and (2) an owner of the second-to-last version of Photoshop that was available under a perpetual license, and I disagree that Photoshop is the best photo editing app in the industry today.

For photo retouching, I prefer Affinity Photo. One thing I especially appreciate about it is how efficient it is at handling large, 16-bit-per-channel images with many layers.

Photoshop is useful to have around mainly because it makes it somewhat easier to work with certain kinds of PSD files that I get from other people.

orangesquirrel··on Cloud Vision API will not return gendered labels such as 'man' and 'woman'
Depends on the application. For something like approximating demographics of retail store traffic, this kind of issue would probably be fine. I don’t think anybody expects these models to be right 100% of the time anyway.
