Shouldn’t this be part of the standard evaluation for applicants into any military or paramilitary service, or is it considered a plus?

We know now that the police in the USA is contaminated with neonazis, trump’s right hand is a white supremacist (interesting choice for an Eastern European “Jew”) and what the brits and Americans did in abu gharib was was not “a few bad apples”.

This level of disregard to human lives was brought back home, as the BLM protestors can see when playing violin in a parc warrants calling in the stormtroopers (literarily, most likely).

What do you mean by “someone changed it”?
onyva··on You shouldn’t buy a new Mac right now
The tile is “ You shouldn’t buy a new Mac right now”.
onyva··on Cancel Culture in 1974
Right wingers current peeve in respect to loosing, again, the culture wars. You know you’re on the wrong side of history simply by checking who’s using this term. If it’s Laura Ingram and ivanka you’ve clearly lost the argument.

Fox News and trump are not victims of a cancel culture they are the cancel culture, which I think is a perfect term to describe the injustices of a system these people represent.

Who’s really being “cancelled”? Ivanka Trump or millions or disenfranchised people, mostly poor, who’s voices are never heard unless they go out to the streets or boycott a random corporation who’s been lobbying the government in order to bypass and subvert democracy for profit?

onyva··on Europeans' trust in US as world leader collapses during pandemic
>> The job of the political opposition is to oppose.

If that were the case than there’s no point in having a political system, is there?

Regardless, we’re back in the false equivalences territory. The GOP doesn’t have any policies. It’s a block of resentment that’s not even trying anymore to pretend.

The democrats have policies and as you say, they do their job and oppose (based on their policies). They don’t oppose for the sake of opposition like you’re suggesting. They have policies they seem to be able to articulate and stand behind.

Republicans don’t. Not any more at least not since they’ve lost two election cycles to Obama.

Your problems and complaints about the EU are not relevant to the discussion. Opposition to trump is based on his action, or inaction mostly and deliberate policies written by lobbyists and white supremacists. I’d say that’s a reason to be busy opposing him.

Ps you’re. Unless your talking genetics, how does this qualify you as a “European”?

onyva··on Facebook Boycott Grows: Ford Joins Coca-Cola, Starbucks and Other Brands
“In report what a politician says, we think it's important that people should generally be able to see it for themselves on our platforms, too."

News outlets don’t give up the stage and leave viewers without context or basic fact checking. Well, most of them. Facebook wants to be the Fox News of social media, not a platform for social engagement, which can’t happen when your business model is misinformation and manufactured right wing rage.

onyva··on Europeans' trust in US as world leader collapses during pandemic
I guess you haven’t been watching much TV during Obama’s time in the White House. The GOP post-policy strategy is just about opposing and nothing else. This was the case since the democrats made it clear with Obama that Republicans got nothing to offer to the American people other than destroying the economy Democrats built.

Also, you might be European but trump is loathed here (Western Europe) probably more than he is in the USA.

onyva··on Europeans' trust in US as world leader collapses during pandemic
Thanks for writing this. Really helps understanding, but also very familiar. Also shows what social justice reform would never happen unless these people go out to the streets.
onyva··on How Safe Do LGBTQ+ Individuals Feel in Tech?
I wonder if there are LGBTQ people working at Brave and what do they think about Eich. Ie him contributing money to block same sex marriage in California.
onyva··on Europeans' trust in US as world leader collapses during pandemic
I think it’s the clash with reality that might be transformative. For good or bad.
onyva··on Europeans' trust in US as world leader collapses during pandemic
You’re clearly not following USA network news. I cringe every time I hear (on center left leaning MSNBC) “American exceptionalism”, “leader of the free world”, “the most powerful man/country in the world”, or “the greatest nation in the world”. They clearly don’t get how far their idea of the USA is from that of the rest of the world of them. If it wasn’t for Hollywood propaganda, it’d be even worse.
onyva··on [dead]
Soooo... Fox deliberately spreading misinformation (they’re probably liable) is an “opinion”.
onyva··on I deleted my Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram accounts, and felt great since
Removing Facebook from my life was the best thing I’ve ever done and I don’t feel I miss anything. Also, will never use any app or service that requires a social account.

Facebook was very easy to get reed of in fact. IG I was hesitant, since I like photography. It was obvious though quickly after it was bought that it had quickly become a narcissistic sewage and nothing to do with photography.

onyva··on Twitter slaps another warning label on Trump tweet about force
If the law was the law trump would have been in prison long time ago. The law is not the law when it comes to people with money, or their own or the father/mother/s.

PS This self righteousness really doesn’t work anymore when you now have 2nd republican president seating in the WH having their election challenged in court or outright lost the popular vote by a considerable margin.

onyva··on Jewish groups decry Black Lives Matter platform’s view on Israel (2016)
Wow. To be honest it’s actually Holocaust survivors who had “so much to teach the world about making sure that voices are heard” but the Israeli voice, in that respect, was rather absent. Not only Israel’s criminal treatment of the Palestinians, but also it’s indifference to the persecution of Muslims in China and Myanmar. Even worse, Israel’s implied support of trump administration policies, presumably written by a “Jewish”* white supremacist in Stephen Miller.

* By Jewish I mean Eastern European, and not an ethnic jew.

onyva··on Why some nations are rich and others poor (2016)
The biggest power in the world at this time was the Ottoman Empire, and they controlled all land access to their markets, and had no urgent need to explore further than the outreach of their empire, unlike the Europeans, who were struggling to get access to India and China. Even though the Ottomans did poses a naval fleet, there was no real economical incentive. Ie. the Suez canal was a very old idea that the Ottomans considered but did not carry through etc.

When I see Eastern European Jews like Kushner, Miller, Idelson, Mnuchin and way-too-many others surrounding Trump, enabling him or writing racist and xenophobic policies, I ask myself the same questions. When I read about Epstein, Weinstein or Polanski, I immediately make the connection to Zvi Migdal. This is not Judaism and these people are not Jewish, culturally (or ethnically).
onyva··on 'Product of theft': Greece urges UK to return Parthenon marbles
It wasn’t his to give.
onyva··on [dead]
I would also add that this is an experience specific to Eastern European relationships with non Jews in general. Eastern European Jews in Israel, orthodox or secular, are perceived profoundly racist. Lookup extreme cases in Arthur Ruppin as a starting point.

Using “Jews” as a collective when referring to Eastern Europeans is offensive and ignores the ethnic diversity of the Jewish experience. It was only after the holocaust that being Jewish became equated predominantly with Eastern Europeans for obvious reason.

Our history though is much richer then what happened to people who escaped the Pale of Settlement to North America.

Berlin’s Pergamon has many artifacts, such as the facade of Qasr Mshatta (Jordan), for some reason. It’s infuriating to see this is still tolerated.
onyva··on Payment processor Visa blacklists free speech software company Gab
I’m Jewish. I don’t speak Yiddish. That’s the Eastern Europeans you’re barking at.
onyva··on Payment processor Visa blacklists free speech software company Gab
Yeah right.

Gab is an English-language social media website known for its far-right userbase.[8] The site has been widely described as a "safe haven"[9] for extremists including neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the alt-right.[10]

Gab claims to stand for free speech and individual liberty,[a][25][26] though these claims have been criticized for being a shield of the alt-right ecosystem.[19][22] Antisemitism is a prominent part of the site's content,[28] and the platform itself has engaged in antisemitic commentary.[23][29] Researchers have written that Gab is "known to be hateful".[30]
