olgeni··on Show HN: Sosumi.ai – Convert Apple Developer docs to AI-readable Markdown
> Apple's docs are JavaScript-rendered

Makes you wonder what's the point of this “choice”.

olgeni··on EU proposal to scan all private messages gains momentum
Every message will be scanned, except for von der Leyen's contract negotiations via SMS :D
olgeni··on Kubuntu finally removes support for X11 in new installs
We recently swapped RPIs with Windows mini-PCs due to xdotool disappearing, and whatever the alternative is called... segfaulting. Keep going like this.
olgeni··on Red Hat Ansible and HashiCorp Terraform Will Be Coming Together
Will Terraform become dog-slow too? :|
olgeni··on Why Did the Turbo Button Slow Down Your PC in the '90s?
On some old XT clones the turbo button did nothing, but Ctrl+Alt+Num- did the trick :D
olgeni··on Show HN: iMCP – Connect Your macOS Messages, Calendar, and More to Claude
Never mind :D ICE was hiding the icon... killed ICE, icon came back!
olgeni··on Show HN: iMCP – Connect Your macOS Messages, Calendar, and More to Claude
15.3.1... The binaries in Contents start properly when executed on the terminal, but the icon does not show up if I start the app from Finder - or I can't find it for some reason, but I looked hard :)
olgeni··on Show HN: iMCP – Connect Your macOS Messages, Calendar, and More to Claude
I don't even get the icon \o/ maybe I'm missing something?
olgeni··on Show HN: Bad ALIENS, 5yo and dad build a game in 8h with AI
\o/
olgeni··on Async Django in Production
I was using Daphne and then found out that it read the whole files in a POST before passing it along - needless to say I am no longer using Daphne \o/
olgeni··on The Airport Security Liquid Rules That Refuse to Go Away
Recurring inconvenience is a good basic test for compliance.
olgeni··on Gitlab is reportedly up for sale
Imagine Broadcom getting it :D
olgeni··on Smart jerks aren't worth it
In the IT world the jerk is always some dev, never a "scrum master”, some HR dude, or some project manager. Did anybody notice? :D
olgeni··on Karnataka (The State Housing Bangalore) Proposes 14 Hour Workdays for SWEs
I had the misfortune of working for a company that was "acquired" by some other company in that area. Never, never again.
olgeni··on Von der Leyen Commission loses Covid vaccine transparency case
Only works if the check and balances have consequences :|
olgeni··on OpenAI promised to make its AI safe. Employees say it 'failed' its first test
This is funny because it says "President Biden’s strategy" as if they actually believed it :D
olgeni··on Michigan Dept. Of Transportation Still Has a Century-Old Ford Model T in Service
"We" have been bending over backwards for far worse, so what's there to complain about?
olgeni··on How innovative is China in nuclear power?
Maybe it depends on what the state actually does..
olgeni··on Bento: Open-source fork of the project formerly known as Benthos
Topic logger is not listed as "enterprise" on the website and I could not find out how it's used :| it does not even show up on the "list" command..
olgeni··on Bento: Open-source fork of the project formerly known as Benthos
The text "Licensed as a Redpanda Enterprise file under the Redpanda Community" appears in the two RCL-licensed connectors as listed on the web site:

github.com/redpanda-data/connect/v4@v4.28.0/internal/impl/snowflake/output_snowflake_put.go github.com/redpanda-data/connect/v4@v4.28.0/internal/impl/splunk/template_output.yaml

But also in an apparently unrelated file (Kafka seems to fall under Apache 2 from the website):

github.com/redpanda-data/connect/v4@v4.28.0/internal/impl/kafka/topic_logger.go

Now I am a bit puzzled. What's up with this?

I am furiously rewriting my way out of Benthos but I would like to keep the FreeBSD port in shape :D

olgeni··on Benthos – Fancy stream processing made operationally mundane
I never see this mentioned and found out about it by chance - maybe somebody finds it useful \o/
olgeni··on Software vendors dump open source, go for the cash grab
Somebody should add Redis RESP protocol to NATS \o/
olgeni··on The Psychology of Apple Packaging
Part 2: compare the packaging to the stream of garbage that comes up as "ps xa" or "dmesg" :D
olgeni··on Apple announces changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store in the European Union
i.e. they will keep two product versions around in order to keep screwing the people outside the EU.
olgeni··on Ask HN: DigitalOcean Down?
The moment they dropped FreeBSD support - and had to find out by asking why images were not being updated - I understood that Clues were Leaving the Company and promptly moved the critical stuff elsewhere.
olgeni··on Minnesota middle school students 'seem happy' after cellphone ban
"Our European visitors are important to us", says the page blocking the content since years :D
olgeni··on Ask HN: What are some unpopular technologies you wish people knew more about?
nats.io if you never bumped into it.
olgeni··on Apple designer admits they don't care about user research
This explains a lot about the so-called "window manager" they dumped on us.
olgeni··on FreeBSD 14.0-Release
Works for me :) I have per-dataset encryption and seems to work just fine.
olgeni··on FreeBSD 14.0-Release
You can easily fool DigitalOcean into running FreeBSD with custom images \o/
