nwoli··on Ask HN: Should we stop posting X links on HN?
There’s too much signal on there for a blanket ban. Make an account and you can access it that’s probablh the reason
nwoli··on Ask HN: Should we stop posting X links on HN?
Didn’t HN use to have actual polls? Anyway my vote for this is no
nwoli··on Many Searchers Want to Turn Off Google AI Overviews
No complaints here (duckduckgo user)
nwoli··on Llama 3 implemented in pure NumPy
It’s just used for checking that the implementation is correct. The dataset is just a toy dataset it doesn’t matter if it has misspelled words
nwoli··on Viking 7B: open LLM for the Nordic languages trained on AMD GPUs
No offense but this reply is giving me such “generated by an LLM” vibes, I’m curious if it is
nwoli··on Hot take on OpenAI’s new GPT-4o
Gary Marcus is turning into the Jim Cramer of AI (consistently on the wrong side of history)
nwoli··on Ilya Sutskever to leave OpenAI
Personally I don’t trust much of anything sam says, so I’d take any framing with a large grain of salt
nwoli··on Show HN: I created an app for you to be a more unpredictable romantic partner
They would probably react that way since the partner was just following instructions of an app rather than something more romantic and genuine
nwoli··on TimesFM: Time Series Foundation Model for time-series forecasting
Just to see how good the model is (maybe it’s creepily good in a fun way)
nwoli··on TimesFM: Time Series Foundation Model for time-series forecasting
Seems like a pretty small (low latency) model. Would be interesting to hook up to mouse input (x and y) and see how well it predicts where I’m gonna move the mouse (maybe with and without seeing the predicted path)
nwoli··on MIT abandons requirement of DEI statements for hiring and promotions
Cowardice selected for by ejecting the non cowards through filters that makes them not hired at these places
nwoli··on Direct pixel-space megapixel image generation with diffusion models
Which discord if its open to the public? I was on one woth kath in 2021 and loved her insights, would love to again
nwoli··on Mark Zuckerberg’s new goal is creating artificial general intelligence
Probably partially to reduce momentum in profit extraction from competitors
nwoli··on Web AI Model Testing: WebGPU, WebGL, and Headless Chrome
Best alternative for web imo (perf generally beats onnx for web)
nwoli··on Rabbit: LLM-First Mobile Phone
I figured it’s local llms on the device
nwoli··on Korea to welcome 'digital nomads' with new visa starting Jan. 1
Sounds like a fair trade for both partners
nwoli··on VanJS – A no-JSX framework based on vanilla JavaScript
Not necessarily. Lots of jpegs go below the 1 mb mark (and tons of framework are bloated like crazy)
nwoli··on A new old kind of R&D lab
Maybe DM one of the founders (who has DMs open to everyone) https://twitter.com/jeremyphoward
nwoli··on DeciLM-7B: The Fastest and Most Accurate 7B-Parameter LLM to Date
Have you tried the 0.2 version they released yesterday? Curious if you’re seeing significant improvements
nwoli··on OpenAI Committed to Buying $51M of AI Chips from a Startup Backed by Sam Altman
Isn’t lying to congress criminal
nwoli··on OpenAI Committed to Buying $51M of AI Chips from a Startup Backed by Sam Altman
OpenAI is nothing without its investors
nwoli··on Animate Anyone: Image-to-video synthesis for character animation
You really want that to be a comment you make on revolutionary new tech? Think of what you’d think of finding dismissive comments like that about the invention of the telephone
nwoli··on Charlie Munger – Feeling Like a Victim Is Perfectly Disastrous
Not sure the math even comes out obviously in favour of someone who overindulges but dies an early death, vs someone who lives long and enjoys a coke every so often throughout that long life.
nwoli··on Charlie Munger – Feeling Like a Victim Is Perfectly Disastrous
Enjoying the occasional Coca Cola but not overindulging is perfectly consistent correct behaviour within those constraints
nwoli··on Yi-34B-Chat
Sometimes huggingface pays for them if they’re popular as a sort of ad for HF spaces
nwoli··on Stable Video Diffusion
Is the checkpoint default fp16 or fp32?
nwoli··on Advertiser exodus expected to deeply impact X ad revenue, analysis indicates
At this point they’ve rewritten nearly everything in rust so that’s unlikely to happen
nwoli··on Kyutai AI research lab with a $330M budget that will make everything open source
Also has incredibly good math institutions
nwoli··on Kyutai AI research lab with a $330M budget that will make everything open source
I mean I’m happy with just the weights if that’s all they can do. If it’s actually useful then you should be able to use it to build something important, not just make middlemen “shovels during goldrush” saas apps
nwoli··on OpenAI board in discussions with Sam Altman to return as CEO
They decide how to bias it. They decide if they should pull the plug or not. They decide if it’s too powerful and they’re in contact with people who suggest to the government that we should bomb datacenters if so
