nullhack··on Mark Zuckerberg Says Waking Up Every Day Is Like Getting Punched in the Stomach
READING NEWS in the morning, not "waking up" Mis-leading Clickbait headline
nullhack··on Swastika Mountain in Oregon may have a new name soon
"The Governor's lobbying, while ultimately successful, proved to be controversial. The controversy stemmed in part from the fact that governor's request violated a required waiting period of five years after a person's death prior to renaming a geographic feature; Piestewa had been killed earlier that year while deployed on active military duty in Iraq." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piestewa_Peak#Name

Googling "five years after death geographic feature" gives me a United States Geological Survey Source https://www.usgs.gov/us-board-on-geographic-names/how-do-i

If a monument could be named a day or a month after someone's death, that may create a Perverse Incentive for "early deaths" for brownie points...

nullhack··on Extreme rise in porn addiction fueled by working from home according to clinics
Wrong, Africa, India, China are growing. And half of Africans plan on migrating to Europe, thus growing Europe's population as well. As for the USA, 4 million migrants from God knows where have bolstered our pop as well.

"World populaion is maybe even falling" lmao

I'm still pissed "Squaw Peak" in Phoenix, AZ was renamed for some Native American woman, even though she was still alive/ had not yet been dead for the amount of time required for such honorific namings.

That mountain will be "Squaw Peak" until the day I die.

nullhack··on Meta’s chatbot replying that Dutch politican is a terrorist
In my week of chatting with the Replika AI (app), I had so much fun parsing whether "AI" messages were: Tutorialization-Onboarding, Filter-NoNo-Messages, OR Actual-AI-Replies

Though to be fair, Humans also have filters and "unengaged responses" to sensitive or undesired topics. And maybe even instilled in them by other agents!!

nullhack··on Orcas are breaking rudders off boats in Europe
Perhaps Orcas nibble at eachothers tails for fun, but multiple cases of breakage seems less-than-playful
nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
Bigot!

What people do in the privacy of their homes only concerns the homeowneer, Gary, Tom, Dick, Harry, 5 Jane Does, and the cutting edge of Smallpox Epidemiology research!!

I make the "OK" symbol with my hand, index finger and thumb touching, in your general direction

Looking at exponential world population growth makes me fear that: We will only become MORE risk averse, more afraid of contagious illness, and more reliant on Digital work/ entertainment. Do your part to stop the Spread, by staying home and keeping eyes glued to your Screens...
nullhack··on An odd discovery on Spotify
Sybil attack on Spotify! Since both Spotify and Grubhub have a digital layer, actors can multiply endlessly!

Is the only solution to retreat to campfire songs and home cooking?

nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
Did Google not give me Greek and Latin etymologies?
nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
"If Gay patients are uncomfortable with Bigoted doctors, these patients deserve Compassionate doctors" is, I believe, a better summary of their comment.
nullhack··on Electric Scooter Revolution Faces a Reckoning in Stockholm
Great! In my college parking structure, I once had the misfortune of having to step over 20 of these damn things.

I called the transport office, and asked if I would be recieving a discount on my parking spot, if the campus would allow these devices to freely profit off of the structure I was paying to use.

Next day they were all gone, though a handful stubbornly continued to show up.

nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
The distinction is "threat to any government" vs "threats to OUR government"

Sure, ANY Republic does not rely on States, as evidenced by Singapore. But OURS (if you are also a USA citizen) does.

nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
Is there a parallel risk of "Democracy" overwhelming the "Republic" aspects of our Democracy*?
nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
Per google search ".. etymology" demos: the people; -cratia: power, rule; Greek. res: entity, concern; publicus: of the people, public; Latin

"Rule of the People" and "Concern of the People" sound SIMILAR, sure!

Just because a mechanic is concerned for your car, does not mean he owns it... I think it's lazy of you to call this dichotomy "propoganda" without offering any definitions or etymology.

nullhack··on Singapore will decriminalize sex between men, prime minister says
Yes, I'm always curious who "we" and "our" means in these cases...

As a tangent, the USA is a Democratic Republic, and yet all I ever hear is threats to "Our Democracy" I never hear about threats to "Our Republic"

Look up "Goldman Sachs DEI ESG" My take: More Consumers, More Profit

"As a firm focused on sustainable and inclusive growth, we are channeling the power of capital to drive economic prosperity for more people." https://www.goldmansachs.com/our-commitments/diversity-and-i...

nullhack··on Air Force may put Angry Kitten in planes for electronic warfare edge
"Researchers referred to the matter as cognitive EW, systems that use machine learning and other sophisticated tech to select a means of jamming, analyze its effectiveness and then self-correct to exploit identified weakness. The practice is different than deploying chaff, material used to confuse radar, or other more-common measures."

nullhack··on The Age of Distracti-Pression
"Sitting with her puppy helped, but her teachers told her it was too distracting onscreen. Ultimately her mother decided to try her on Paxil."

Sad

nullhack··on Search Warrants for Abortion Data Leave Tech Companies Few Options
"To bolster the case, a law enforcement officer asked a court to order Facebook to turn over private messages between the women. In his application, the officer said the women had told investigators that they had texted back and forth on Messenger about Celeste’s pregnancy."
nullhack··on Yonatan Zunger – People seem to think “Nazi” is meant as a slur or term of abuse (2017)
We have literal, open and proud Sodomists, who drink gallons of piss, text their 100 butt-buddies monkeypox pics, and drive global viral pandemics. The concern is warranted.

nullhack··on The unclear future for gifted-and-talented education
"Brooklyn school-board leader NeQuan McLean says gifted programs have caused division and segregation in his district, and should be abolished because they take resources away from needy students."

So, Special Needs programs segregate kids, and use resources for Needy kids. Seems self-evident.

nullhack··on Tesla Falsely Advertises Autopilot, Full Self-Driving Tech: California DMV
Perhaps "Tesla Autopilot" can be the first Marketing Lie to vanish from the list: "Almond Milk", "Veggie Patties", "RNA Vaccine"...

And the plethora of USA Liar Laws such as the "Patriot Act", "Inflation Reduction" bill...

Until then, we live in a country owned by Marketers and Lobbyists, and Elon Musk can call his AI cars Self-Driving* as long as he likes

nullhack··on Counterfeits, fraud, and theft: Why Silca changed its return policy
I had a package go to the wrong place, and went to ask the neighbor for it myself. Similarly, called to complain, and they, misunderstanding me, offered me a full refund for the item that I had on my desk.
nullhack··on TuSimple reportedly tried to pass off a selfdriving truck crash as ‘human error’
“The left-turn command was 2.5 minutes old and should have been erased but wasn’t, according to the internal report." wow...
nullhack··on Ask HN: What's up with these DoorDash dark patterns?
Transparent: Moreso than Restaurant + Delivery!

Functions well: How dutifully can one shop, and hand/machine-wash plates after eating?

End product tastes good: taste food while you're preparing it (and the food is safe to eat)

Home-cooking is a good start to OP's requirements
