I am absolutely 100% intolerant of anyone opposed to gay marriage (or civil unions for straight couples/gay couples, same end result).

> Maybe he was misguided, or misunderstood the reality of what Proposition 8 would mean

How could this possibly ever happen? You'd seriously have to be a complete moron. Here's the complete text:

Section I. Title

This measure shall be known and may be cited as the "California Marriage Protection Act."

Section 2. Article I. Section 7.5 is added to the California Constitution, to read:

Sec. 7.5. Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

Pretty fucking simple.

Luckily, if you live in a place where terrible people barely exist (NYC, SF, Massachusetts, etc.), it isn't really an issue. There are only a few times that I've run into an issue from just openly stating "homophobes are awful" as if it was the weather - the typical response is as if I had said "it's raining" - "well, duh".

My general approach is to be glad I pissed those people off, because I now know to never associate with them again.

This might be harder in, say, Texas.

You can buy hemp protein powder on Amazon, I've seen hemp blend shirts (horribly scratchy, for the record).

Brendan Eich is, though, apparently.

I can't even. I'm so incredibly disgusted.

I agree, knowing that homophobes are in public places of power is a good thing.

Eich shouldn't be able to enter a room without being berated, until he concedes and gives up his bigotry.

This is not "raising taxes". This is human rights.

Mozilla now cannot hire a LGBT employee without creating a hostile environment for them.

This is a big fucking deal.

Why do you seem to have the idea that "no kids" implies "single"?

I don't know about the jail punishment, but I see no reason that DUI punishment shouldn't be equal to phone/text punishment (and it should certainly be a license suspension of massive length).
nsmnsf··on Android Development Tips For iOS Devs
This type of layout is generally limited to social feeds, where pagination is pretty much mandatory (you have to request more results from an API). Anything entirely client-side typically uses fixed height rows.

> Make it easier for people to get around without driving, and there will be less drunk driving.

So... add more car services? What!? Grade-separated rapid transit (ideally with platform screen doors), aggressive congestion charging, parking maximums, and general Copenhagenization - these are actual solutions, not more cars.

nsmnsf··on Android Development Tips For iOS Devs
I don't have to imagine this, though, I've done it on iOS. It works fine, because you're rarely working with 1000 items at once. With pagination, you cache the old results, and only calculate the new 50 or so rows at a time.
nsmnsf··on Android Development Tips For iOS Devs
My experience with ListView was... weird. It doesn't ask you for a height for each row like UITableView does, just for a row count. Then, it measures your views as you return them. This meant that the scrollbar was completely unreliable, it would resize based on the height of the currently visible views. Is there an obvious way around this that I'm missing? ListAdapter doesn't have anything for specifying height.

I'm not busy, I just don't want to. I don't want to hear about your startup. I don't want to hear about how great of an opportunity working for it is. I want to read a book, go running, or hang out with my friends.

nsmnsf··on Intro Etiquette
That makes sense. I'm not currently looking for a job, and I don't like having people try to sell me on them.

I've been introduced to a few people recently (because someone asked the person who knows me about me) and I haven't replied. Why am I obligated to do so?
nsmnsf··on Why should I use a pointer rather than the object itself?
> And the destructor, if any, is called

Right, that's implied by a C++ object being deallocated. I understand how it works - it's just that it's really obvious if you know anything at all about how the stack works (and C++ destructors).

nsmnsf··on Why should I use a pointer rather than the object itself?
Can someone explain RAII to me? In the way that it's commonly used, it seems like it really means "stack variables that go out of scope are deallocated", which seems kind of, well, duh? I don't really understand why it's treated like a big deal.

(I mostly write C + Obj-C)

Pretty much all of my experiences with auto layout in code have taken longer both in code length and in time than just implementing -layoutSubviews. Explicit is better than implicit, etc.
