nosbo··on Avoiding outrage fatigue while staying informed
I have no idea how. But after I quit social media I managed to convince my wife to give it a go. That was 4 years ago. Has linkedin for work, and goes to a couple of sports related subreddits, but that's it.
nosbo··on Authors seek Meta's torrent client logs and seeding data in AI piracy probe
no
nosbo··on Veo 2: Our video generation model
What should I be looking into?
nosbo··on Ask HN: SWEs how do you future-proof your career in light of LLMs?
I suppose I could already be replaced with any number of services (vercel, heroku, Google cloud run etc..). But I haven't yet. I think I still provide value in other ways. (Also a sys admin)
nosbo··on Ask HN: SWEs how do you future-proof your career in light of LLMs?
You do realise planes already fly themselves right. And at some airports even land and takeoff.

If everyone prompts code. Less people will actually know what they're doing?
nosbo··on Veo 2: Our video generation model
But it's the same thing just at a higher fidelity. Which is impressive don't get me wrong. But they are also kinda bad looking. Like even there good examples have so many issues. I just don't see how this gets extrapolated into the ideas in various posts like full length movies, custom TV shows and holodecks or whatever else people dream up. Do we have any examples of tech that just kept improving at exponential or linear rates? Why is everyone so confident it will just keep getting better?
nosbo··on School smartphone ban results in better sleep and improved mood: study
If I didn't have a kid, I wouldn't have a phone at work. It would probably be off in my locker or something.
nosbo··on School smartphone ban results in better sleep and improved mood: study
That's not how it works for sleep though.

I'm not that old (got home internet in my teens). But got an old c64 from my uncle when I was in primary school. It came with a stack of magazines. In them was all this code you had to copy paste to get a basic game. I don't remember exactly but I don't recall I had anyway to save them either. I don't have anything to add, but you just made me think of a neat memory.
nosbo··on OnlyFans models are using AI impersonators to keep up with their DMs
Wasn't it like this before tinder? That's kinda how I remember it was when I was going out to pubs/clubs.
nosbo··on OnlyFans models are using AI impersonators to keep up with their DMs
I would say no.
nosbo··on Car tires shed a quarter of all microplastics in the environment
There needs to be more choices. American suburbia is on another level I know, but there is no reason you can't have a bit more density, walk-able or bicycle friendly neighbourhoods, centred around amenities and public transport.
nosbo··on Australia proposes ban on social media for those under 16
Not disagreeing with you. But we (those of us old enough to remember) still kept in touch with our friends that moved away to different unis before social media existed.
nosbo··on ChatGPT Search
Is it optimising for all users? And assuming people thumbs up the correct info. I wonder what accuracy percentage we are looking at there. ChatGPTs responses are so confident when wrong I fear people will just give it a thumbs up when its wrong. (This is if how I understand the feature you mention is working)
nosbo··on Google CEO says more than a quarter of the company's new code is created by AI
Don't disagree. But I think it's pretty accepted that sysadminy scripts and full blown applications are different. Just don't want to give the wrong impression that I know what I'm talking about I guess.
nosbo··on Google CEO says more than a quarter of the company's new code is created by AI
I don't write code as I'm a sysadmin. Mostly just scripts. But is this like saying intellisense writes 25% of my code? Because I use autocomplete to shortcut stuff or to create a for loop to fill with things I want to do.
nosbo··on Saturated fat: the making and unmaking of a scientific consensus (2022)
There are so many great vegan protein powders these days. I'm not vegan but enjoy most of them. Soy goes down the best for me.
nosbo··on Google commits to buying power generated by nuclear-energy startup Kairos Power
Or just overbuild your generation sources?
nosbo··on Apple Hearing Study shares preliminary insights on tinnitus
I have crazy tight traps & neck. I have started a routine of stretching and dead hangs and I'm interested to see what that does for my tinnitus. Like the poster above. I just try not to think about it. TBH this thread reminded me I had it XD.
nosbo··on Cosmic: A New Desktop Environment
Yeah I'm surprised. On other linux forums/sites I frequent there is a lot more positivity.

I'm excited to see where it goes.

nosbo··on Cosmic: A New Desktop Environment
I'm hoping a community continues the work there.
nosbo··on A chemist explains the chemistry behind decaf coffee
I find the ethyl acetate processed to be the better of the decafs. It's my go to these days.
nosbo··on I Received an AI Email
Word of mouth with IRL people? I'm not sure I can assume anyone on any forum is real anymore. And if they are real, I assume they are marketers pretending to be users to push a product. Maybe journalism makes a come back if you can trust they are real and not a sellout.
nosbo··on We are at our most creative just before we fall asleep, scientists say (2022)
I swear I heard the same with Dali, holding a metal key over a metal box.
nosbo··on What happens in the brain to cause depression?
I don't think that has anything to do with keto. If you go from a standard american diet to mediteranian, plant based, keto etc people are going to be feeling better. A large percentage of people that change there diet probably start exercising too.
