Maybe I'm overreacting but that seems like a bit much to ask for before I'm able to even tell what the web site does.

Note: I bit the bullet and logged in anyway, too curious to help myself. It wants me to watch "Just A Dream" by Nelly, but when I attempt to skip the video and find one more suitable to my tastes, it loads Nelly again. And again. And again.

norova··on Reactable: Mac-driven, Microsoft Surface-like musical instrument
Forgive me if this has been shared before, but I found it quite interesting and I just stumbled upon it via a Twitter friend.

It is a musical instrument driven by a Mac computer which uses a projector to provide a table-top touch interface -- similar to the way Microsoft Surface works. Watch some of the tutorial videos, they are pretty neat! If only the price tag wasn't so harsh.

Edit: It appears there's a Reactable app for iPhone and iPad as well, if you can't afford the Reactable Live! instrument.

norova··on Ask HN: Cheap/free sites for design workflow? (i.e. similar to Draftboardapp)
Unfortunately it only supports one user, and we need two. :( Otherwise it would be perfecto!
norova··on Ask HN: Sites that connect HN designers with developers?
This is definitely one of the sites I was thinking of. Thanks!
norova··on We’re creating a “Startup toolbox”. What apps should go in it?
I know that MediaTemple is very cozy with the design community. Other than that, I can't glean much from their web site that would separate them from other hosting providers. I am curious for any insight on this as well!
norova··on We’re creating a “Startup toolbox”. What apps should go in it?
Geckoboard: http://www.geckoboard.com/ --- "a hosted, real-time status board serving up the indicators that matter to you."

Freshbooks: http://www.freshbooks.com/ --- "painless billing"

Linode: http://www.linode.com/ --- "Deploy and Manage Linux Virtual Servers in the Linode Cloud. Get a server running in minutes with your choice of Linux distro, resources, and node location."

norova··on Groupon spends big on Superbowl commercials, but ads anger many viewers
I believe if they would have made it a clear fact that they were directly supporting the groups which they were poking fun at, the ads would not have been so ill-received. You can donate to Greenpeace, The Tibet Fund, Rainforest Action Network and buildOn at Groupon's site and your donation will be matched (with the exception of Greenpeace, for which you receive Groupon credit): http://savethemoney.groupon.com/

It's a bit of a shame that the donation site wasn't promoted at all in the videos, it might have done wonders for the groups on the receiving end.

norova··on Looking for a Ride to SXSW? Get on the Startup Bus
I know some techies in the area and I've already bombarded them with info. :) Definitely going to spread the word as much as I can.
norova··on Looking for a Ride to SXSW? Get on the Startup Bus
I'd love one if you can spare it. Just hoping the plans for a Chicago bus actually come true!
norova··on Holy crap, is creating A/B tests this easy?
Unbounce is another reasonable alternative. It is not specifically made for A/B testing but it has great functionality for doing so.

norova··on Gawker Website source, databases & passwords now on BitTorrent
Good to know. Thanks! I can remain a normal TOS-fearing citizen. :)
norova··on Gawker Website source, databases & passwords now on BitTorrent
Well, haven't actually clicked the send button yet.. was waiting for the import to finish. I'm second-guessing the foolhardy good samaritan effort now, though. ;)

It's a free account that I got via an AppSumo bundle, so no real loss to me if it gets terminated, but I'd rather not go that route to begin with, ya know?

norova··on Gawker Website source, databases & passwords now on BitTorrent
I'm currently sending emails to the first 50,000 addresses listed in the database dump via SendGrid. I only have 50,000 credits left for this month, but at least that many will get notified.
norova··on Path — Introducing The Personal Network
"...via the photos you take every day with your mobile device.

We’re launching first on the App Store on iPhone. If you do not have an iPhone, you can still register and check out Path through your browser."

I took this to mean that they're definitely planning on releasing for other platforms.

norova··on New app maker private beta (tweet '#icanapp' for the beta key)
A bit more info on what exactly this "app maker" is/does would be quite helpful. The "about us" and "help" section of the site don't give much useful information. Given some more information, I'd be happy to sign up.
norova··on Peter Martin: Google does something really good.
My uncle took his own life two years ago, and part of his "cry for help" period was him using Google to research suicide. After looking through his internet history, we found it was on more than just one occasion. I'd be willing to bet that many, many people do the same thing.
norova··on Introducing Sencha Animator: The CSS3 Alternative to Flash
Agreed. The only spot I'm able to find that it mentions this prior to install is on the actual download page, just above the download button. I'd recommend they make that little blurb stand out a bit more. Nevertheless, I'm excited to try this out!
norova··on A Google Suggest Venn Diagram Generator
Don't think this one has been posted... I found it quite humorous:

Why are American {men|women|children} so... : http://www.technomancy.org/google-suggest-venn/#start=Why+ar...

norova··on Make CSS3 buttons that are extremely fancy
In a live demo of the buttons in Chrome those irregularities are not present. I think it might be a Safari thing? Either that or JPEG compression artifacts.
norova··on The worst visualization I've ever seen (CNBC on the oil spill)
I agree, especially when I read this: "Cowboys stadium has an internal volume of approximately 104 cubic feet"

Somebody left out a "million" somewhere.

norova··on One year of Amazon Prime free for students
You'll get a refund for your "unused" paid portion of Prime if you sign up.
norova··on HTC 1
When it comes to text selection, how often do people use it? I ask that in sincere curiosity. I know personally that I only select text once, maybe twice a week on my Palm Pre. Holding shift and dragging through the text works great for me. Perhaps you meant in terms of positioning the cursor? Anywho...

Tactile feedback from keyboards/button has always been an issue with me, but I find that a slight vibration from the phone when a softkey is pressed does the job just fine.

norova··on Weekly free delivery service from Amazon.com: AmazonTote
You get two ToteDays per week instead of one.
norova··on Ask HN - Rate my startup: Struc.to
I know you're looking for more than proofreading feedback, but I just wanted to make you aware of a small typo on the main page.

Just above the email input box, it says this text: "Get in our our beta service." I'm guessing you didn't deliberately put "our" twice! :)

Now on to some real feedback! I'm super excited to give this service a try. It will certainly take the monotony out of many projects and allow my brain to focus on innovation rather than repetition. Thumbs up!

norova··on Scribd in HTML
If you change the View Mode to Slideshow, this allows you to change slides via the left and right arrow keys.
norova··on StickyBits: Add a bar code based history to any physical object
An update to this. I was able to get Netgear to reclassify the site, it should be accessible through all Netgear filters now. :)
norova··on StickyBits: Add a bar code based history to any physical object
Just as a heads up, www.stickybits.com is blocked by default in the NETGEAR UTM25. It is classified as a "pornograph/sexually explicit" web site.

If any Stickybits people read this, you may want to bug them (Netgear) about clearing your name.

norova··on Flight radar - air space above Europe live
This seems to be a not too uncommon occurrence based on what I've seen via the site. I find it a bit discomforting that this happens at all.
norova··on Why Does Facebook Want to Suck the Fun Out of Unfriending?
Tasteless and a tiny bit offensive, but definitely not worthy of a C&D, in my opinion.
norova··on Ask HN: alternatives to EtherPad?
I have not had a chance to play around with it much and I'm not sure about embedding (it's late, I must be off to bed!), but take a look at Amy Editor: http://www.amyeditor.com/

Edit: Here is a screencast of it in action: http://www.amyeditor.com/screencasts/collaboration1.mov
