norikki··on How MTA shut down my app for Penn Station commuters
This app is a classic tragedy of the commoms. If everyone used the app, it would be worse for everyone.
norikki··on What Chinese bosses think of American workers
The differences between any two Americans are going to be much smaller than the differences between two Chinese people from different regions of China, or two Indians from different regions of India. We often take for granted that Native born Americans are drastically more united culturally than people living in more conflict ridden parts of the world.
norikki··on What Chinese bosses think of American workers
"Globalization helped bolster economies around the world, including China’s, and is now allowing a class of wealthy people and companies from those economies to invest in the United States, creating jobs in depressed regions like Ohio."

So instead of Americans owning American companies, and employing 100% American labor, most of the factories have shut down, and the ones that are left are owned and operated by the Chinese and employ a large fraction of foreign workers, although not a majority. How on Earth is this better? The globalists at The Atlantic have clearly outdone themselves with this backwards logic.

norikki··on The nearly 5M US Census Blocks with zero population (2014)
The English settlement of the eastern united states was perfectly peaceful. Englishmen are not murderous psychopaths, but immigration inevitably destroys the previous way of life, and most groups (such as aboriginal Taiwanese, American Indians, and Americans today) value their way of life quite a lot thank you very much.
norikki··on Economic Mobility Requires the Nearly Impossible
First listed reason for inequality in America according to The Atlantic: Slavery. Good to know what political slant they bring to the table.
norikki··on Uber Coins Terms ‘Jewbers’ and ‘UberHUE’ in New Diversity Report
Uber doesn't bend over for the social justice establishment that controls the media, so they will continue to attack Uber even for the exact same things their poster-boy companies like Google do. How is an Uber Jewber more offensive than a Jewgler Googler?
norikki··on Reasons YouTubers keep imploding, from a YouTuber
No. The whole reason pewdiepie and other personalities on youtube have such high viewership is because mainstream media hasn't had anyone funny for decades. Anyone fresh, honest or even just equally offensive to every group has been purged from the airwaves for being politically incorrect. Even Dave Chappelle is getting in hot water for jokes that no one would have objected to 10 years ago.
norikki··on Facebook’s Hyperpartisan Political-Media Machine (2016)
>"Facebook’s takeover of online media looks rather like a slow-motion coup. Before social media, web publishers could draw an audience one of two ways: through a dedicated readership visiting its home page or through search engines. By 2009, this had started to change. Facebook had more than 300 million users, primarily accessing the service through desktop browsers, and publishers soon learned that a widely shared link could produce substantial traffic."

It seems to me that the New York Times is just complaining that they can't control the political narrative anymore because the proles can now decide for themselves what news they will read. Thoughts?

norikki··on The Truth About the WikiLeaks C.I.A. Cache
Yes, obviously no one is going to jail for it, but it's still illegal in that it blatently violates the 4th amendment of the US constitution.
norikki··on If Sociologists Had as Much Influence as Economists
>stories created for politically motivated reasons I think this sums up why sociology should not play any role in policy making, and why its track record is so poor whenever it does.

Sociology is process of rationalizing leftist social policy with the guise of science. In practice, it is just a modern form of Lysenkoism.

There is nothing theoretically wrong with studying human behavior, it is just too easy to always find the answer you are looking for in such an unrigorous environment.

norikki··on Palantir blocked China’s CDH Investments from buying stock, says a lawsuit
I agree with both points. Police officers do not and should not have the authority to enforce the law, and anything that stops people from going to the United Sates is wrong. So clearly companies are violating our privacy when hired by law enforcement to examine public records in order to catch them and send them back to their own country. I admire your courage in standing up for all Americans, especially the 7.2 Billion Americans (7.5 Billion - 300 million) who happen to just not have citizenship yet.
norikki··on The Truth About the WikiLeaks C.I.A. Cache
The problem with this article isnt that the NYT fails to take responisbility for their poor reporting, it's the implication that "there's nothing to see here folks, wikileaks is just paper tiger" as depicted in the accompanying image. The tweet doesnt matter, the illegal domestic spying operations do.
norikki··on The Truth About the WikiLeaks C.I.A. Cache
This is standard operating procedure at propaganda outlets like NYT/Washington Post Et Al. It's called "burying the lead". When the crux of an issue is buried as a footnote in the last paragraph.

The controlled media will quibble over symantics of a Tweet and ignore the shocking truth that innumerous government agencies can aquire blackmail on anyone they want at any time without even breaking the law; and if they fear a journalist or leaker sufficiently, cause a high speed car or plane crash to get rid of them.

norikki··on Uber is designed so that for one employee to get ahead, another must fail
I'm perfectly happy if my profit-motive multinational corporation doesn't feign having 'corporate values' on its website.
norikki··on The threat from within
Only a racist and an Islamaphobe would want limited immigration and a strong stance against Islamic terrorism. Did you know that more people die every year of heart attacks than terrorist attacks, so we should just not do anything to stop terrorism.

Also, did you know that every single person in Mexico is actually an American! Yup, they are all 100% Americans who just haven't illegally crossed the boarder yet. As soon as they do, refusing to give them citizenship is betraying our American values as a Nation Of Immigrants (TM).

norikki··on The threat from within
"We will write off those with opposing views as evil or ignorant or stupid, rather than as interlocutors worthy of consideration. We succumb to the all-purpose ad hominem because it is easier and more comforting than rational argument. But when we do, we abandon what is great about this institution we serve." What a bigot right?
norikki··on Why Peter Thiel Fears Star Trek
Bashing "wealthy capitalists"?

Declaring most of my hard-earned paycheck to be someone else's "human right"?

Attacking the middle class for not being receptive to class warfare rhetoric?

Hopefully you can see why Thiel might characterize these sorts of opinions about the future as Marxist ideology, long ago discredited by history.

norikki··on How Fake News Goes Viral: A Case Study
Of course primary sources are 'non-appoved'. Thats why CNN was caught telling listeners that it was illegal for anyone but CNN to read the WikiLeak Podesta emails.

When I saw the bus thing I questioned how the guy knew the buses were full of protestors, and then stopped caring because it was just some guy on twitter. The MSM want you to blindly accept their narrative and lose the ability to tell fact from fiction.

norikki··on Right-wing group launches campaign against Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX
I don't want fossil fuel subsidies either! We should focus on killing externalities like you said, especially environmental ones, and stop the abuse of our tax money. If Tesla is to succeed, it must succeed without federal subsidies. The subsidies at best hasten the advent of EV by a few years, and that is not worth the Billions of graft and waste that occurs with these federal grants, loan guarantees and rebates. Especially if it turns out the EV wont happen for another few decades. In that case, all these subsidies are a waste because the underlying battery technology is insufficient.

I don't know if Tesla will succeed or fail. If you think it will succeed, then buy their stock. But i don't want to be forced into investing through my tax dollars. That is not the role of government.

norikki··on Right-wing group launches campaign against Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX
No! We shouldn't prioritize research so that the technology can improve. We should shell out billions of taxpayer dollars on existing technology that isn't competitive without subsidies so that politically connected businesses like Solyndra and their investors can pocket millions of your dollars and then go bankrupt. \s

:-P

norikki··on Right-wing group launches campaign against Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX
Correct. If the federal government wants to build or subsidize an electric charging network then it should build or subsidize an electric charging network, not luxury cars.
norikki··on Right-wing group launches campaign against Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX
Obviously oil companies today still get subsidies from the government. The most egregious of which are the liability limitations on deep ocean drilling as evidenced by the Deep Water Horizon disaster. The rig never would have been built if the US Congress didn't indemnify BP for all damages over $70 million dollars.

The article in the post tries to claim that the ratio of fossil fuel subsidies to renewable is 100 to 1. But the time frame of that pie chart belies a serious misrepresentation of fact. "Cumulative Historical Federal Subsidies" suggests all federal subsidies throughout all of history, which would include subsidies paid in the 1930's.

It would be much more enlightening to know that ratio just for the past 5 years.

norikki··on Right-wing group launches campaign against Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX
I love that pie chart. So crony-capitalism subsidies paid to Standard Oil in the 1930's mean that its Elon Musk's turn to get federal loans and rebates. "It's his turn" people!

The huge federal tax payer funded rebates on Tesla automobiles is absolutely a subsidy for his company. To not count it towards the 4.9 Billion dollars in Federal aid is absurd. There's no reason someone shelling out $100,000 for a car should get a $20,000 rebate from the government. That's not 'helping the environment' thats rich people stealing tax money from the poor and middle class.

norikki··on How Fake News Goes Viral: A Case Study
Obviously the article doesnt mention wikileaks. The point is that this article isnt being published in a vacuum.
norikki··on How Fake News Goes Viral: A Case Study
The point of the article is to discourage 'non-approved' news sources because they must all be fake like this bus thing was. Its propaganda to try and keep the NYT relevant despite their lies and deception such as promoting the war in Iraq.
norikki··on [dead]
"On the wrong side of history" is a phase that draws from the ideas of Carl Marx, and is very popular among Marxists. It is an emotional argument that means to appeal to the universal human desire to be accepted by others. Be very careful when you see people use that phrase to make that point. If Hitler had won, would that have put the free people of Europe on the 'wrong side of history'? It is a logical fallacy.

I have seen no evidence that China invented climate change. I chalk that up to Trump's propensity for hyperbole, but who first came up with it is irrelevant to what we do about it now. Also a fake-certificate is about the easiest thing to fabricate.

norikki··on [dead]
Odd how that isn't an argument.
