I have a twitter app http://justunfollow.com which was profiled by Michael Arrington on TechCrunch. I consider that an achievement and I'm indebted to him for life.

nischalshetty··on Apply - Start-Up Chile – Applications live now
We came to Chile with around US$1500 each (we're a team of two). We could survive (pretty comfortably) till the first reimbursements came in (once you get a bank account which is within a week or two you have around $2000 more at your disposal thanks to the line of credit you get at the banks here).

Yeah, you get reimbursed for 90%. But I think it's fair. As founders we need to have put some money into our start-up and have something to lose when things don't work out for us.

nischalshetty··on Apply - Start-Up Chile – Applications live now
The applications would be open until Oct. 27th. I would recommend all of you to apply. $40k without any equity and a chance to live in a beautiful country like Chile should not be missed. Plus, you get to meet entrepreneurs from all over the world.
nischalshetty··on Show HN: WebEngage - feedback and short survey widget. Need your inputs
I've been using WebEngage on my site and it has helped me many a times when people encounter some problems on the site and they send me feedback along with the screenshot. The screenshot feature helps a lot.

All the best guys :)

nischalshetty··on 154 Startups Selected in Start-Up Chile’s 2nd Round of 2011
congrats... it's an awesome program, you're going to love it.
nischalshetty··on 154 Startups Selected in Start-Up Chile’s 2nd Round of 2011
Yes, if they have a good product.
nischalshetty··on 154 Startups Selected in Start-Up Chile’s 2nd Round of 2011
Hiring locals is not a requirement. In fact, they hardly have any requirement apart from the fact that you need to spend 6 months in Chile.
nischalshetty··on This is how you demo your product... make it insanely easy
probably pointless... until you try it on your own site...and you immediately realize what's new... and you see the 'feedback' widget... and then you tell yourself "I want this widget on my site, it's an easy way to accept feedback!" :)
nischalshetty··on Think Twice Before Installing Any Chrome Extension
The developers of this app just lost a lot of trust! Be honest with your users. That's the first rule of developing a good product. It does not matter how much they apologize now, a lot of users aren't going to trust them anymore!
nischalshetty··on My first iPad game: Stats and lessons
Very insightful... More liked the point where you described how you had to start cutting down on stuff so that you get to release it.... I think deciding on one feature and one feature only, developing it and throwing it out to the world is a good idea most of the times :

1. Gives you an opportunity to test if people like what you have to offer

2. You have a ton of features lined up in your head but based on user feedback you would know how to prioritize them

nischalshetty··on The investment that didn't happen
Na... I love Google.... :)
nischalshetty··on The investment that didn't happen
Hard to imagine the pain they must have gone through by having to shut down what they built. A few minutes of downtime on my site makes me go crazy, I cannot imagine having told to shut it down!

I hope the modista guys do well in their new venture and people who prey on other smaller startups in the name of patents are cowards, they don't deserve any respect. I know which website I'll never be visiting, I just don't "like" the people behind it anymore.

And I think Google acquired them to save themselves. They are better off acquiring them than having to face a similar lawsuit which would run into millions of dollars. The acquisition conversation must have been:

Acquire or get served!

nischalshetty··on I am starting a company in Chile
Part of the money already got it's worth for appearing on the front page of HN :) Everybody needs to manage their project, it's a big market and all this from someone who's been there and done that.
nischalshetty··on I am starting a company in Chile
All the best. Wedoist looks useful. We too got selected. Hope to see you there :) I considered plurk to be one of the coolest things around the time when I started using it. For reasons unknown I stopped using it later. But lots of respect to you, would be a pleasure to meet you and work in the same work space as you!
nischalshetty··on We got into Start-Up Chile - building a social inbox
We are building a social inbox. The way you check your emails on popular web based email clients, we wish to be your client for all your social networks. Hope we can build this and build it well.
nischalshetty··on Georgify: Hacker News meets beautiful typography
Totally love all the white space... Things look so clean around here now!
nischalshetty··on DotCloud gets NodeJS support
This would only add to the excitement and enthusiasm currently around Node.js . I've been planning to use node.js for a feature on my product (I am on the appengine and what I want to build does not fit into the GAE philosophy). Node.js seems simple and I've been trying to set it up on AWS. I guess I'll give dotcloud a try too.
nischalshetty··on Receivd - beautiful, fast filesharing for everyone
Domain squatters are to be blamed foremost for this. There are so many beautiful domain names with stupid ads on them as the landing page. Domain names should cost like at least a 100 bucks, wait, would even that stop them!?
nischalshetty··on From 0 to 100k users in 72 hours: the full story behind Breakup Notifier
You did not tell, was ur app ban revoked? How's it going now? Great post, totally inspirational and yes, take constructive criticism and forget the ones out there to destroy anything good being done. As long as you think it's the right thing to do, it is the right thing to do.

One of the most exciting and genuine posts I've read in a long time.

nischalshetty··on New Startup Now Pulling In Over $100k in Monthly Revenues
Ok, I am going to do step 1. Apply to YC and get rejected.
nischalshetty··on Tipped - The Javascript Tooltip Framework
Oh no that's not needed. I understand your point of view and anyone with a first glance would have done the same. I don't know the guy, never interacted, don't know much about him either. I just randomly try to help at times, my way of getting good karma.

I guess I'm a good use case for anti spam algorithms, now you know what false positives are :)

nischalshetty··on Tipped - The Javascript Tooltip Framework
Most of the UI in the samples I saw of this plugin seem good to go as is, I might not need to customize it due to the many options available. I'm not undermining any of the free plugins(I use a lot of free plugins and if not for them I would never have been able to build anything useful).

I'm sorry did not know commercial projects are not to be submitted here. Making money off free apps is so much more difficult. Charging a fee sometimes helps. Completely my point of view, though I may be wrong.

nischalshetty··on Tipped - The Javascript Tooltip Framework
I don't comment much out here but have been an "active" HN user from a long time. By active I mean I religiously check all the links shared on HN everyday, it makes me smarter(I was pretty sure I was dumb until HN happened to me!). I did not write anything offending. I guess being critical is just not me. I liked what I saw and I had some time on my hands so figured could write something good about a script that's been so nicely done.

I guess you guys are allowed to downvote, my karma was 3 and you've now made it -1. That's ok, I only do good things in life, pretty confident good things would happen to me too :)

You can find me on twitter - http://twitter.com/NischalShetty

I have a twitter app http://justunfollow.com which has 150,000 users, I guess fake accounts can't do that :)

P.S. Do you really think a guy who's done such a wonderful javascript plugin would try to leave fake comments? I refuse to believe that!

nischalshetty··on Tipped - The Javascript Tooltip Framework
This one seems to have a lot of features and is pretty!
nischalshetty··on Tipped - The Javascript Tooltip Framework
There is! Actually over the internet there is a market for everything. And this tooltip thingy is so useful. I wouldn't go the extra mile creating a tooltip for my site but wouldn't hesitate to pay for one that looks and works awesome! Increases the beauty quotient of a site.
nischalshetty··on Tipped - The Javascript Tooltip Framework
This is awesome! I've tried a lot of free jquery tooltip plugins but they never quite fit the bill and I do not have time or motivation to build one myself! Can't you like give HNers some discount on the licences?
nischalshetty··on Who is living off their startup fulltime?
I'm so glad to know that :)
nischalshetty··on Goodbye, Google App Engine
The Datastore problems have indeed been fixed and things have been smooth since the fix.
nischalshetty··on Who is living off their startup fulltime?
My part time app http://justunfollow.com rakes in wayyy more than my day job. I'll be doing the "obvious" in a few months time. The reason it's taking me long is the people I currently work with. They are all talented and something gives me a feeling I'll find a "co-founder" in one of my colleagues ;)
nischalshetty··on Who is living off their startup fulltime?
I so very much agree with you. And once you make a small self sustaining site, you can then think of stuff that need not necessarily bring in money instantly but can be exciting to work on.
nischalshetty··on Offer HN: I can review your web app usability and UI
Here's my app http://justunfollow.com Any help would be appreciated :)
