niklasber··on Cerebro App – Open-source productivity booster with a brain
"Search everything in few clicks" - poorly phrased or actually promotes navigating by clicking instead of using keyboard?
niklasber··on Rasa NLU: Open-source bot tool for natural language understanding
Seems like it doesn't say anywhere which language(s) it support? Guessing it's English only.
niklasber··on SQL injections vulnerabilities in Stack Overflow PHP questions
I think it's very natural that code in questions is vulnerable to SQL injections as it should be a stripped down example demonstrating the issue that the poster is dealing with, not necessarily a copy-paste of code that's in production.
niklasber··on AnyBar: OS X menubar status indicator
I created a fork of AnyBar with added support for specifying an icon id for any icon from icons8.com and the status icon will change to it. https://github.com/niklasberglund/AnyBar-icons

Just now quickly whipped it together. Needs improvement(error handling and asynchronous downloading) and packages.

niklasber··on GetAwesomeness – retrieve all amazing awesomeness from GitHub
The uppercase G in getAwesomeNess() bothers me :( (in the title here)
niklasber··on Free HN: Entire First Section of “Linux for Hobbyists”
Is it supposed to say "web server" instead of "web scraper"?
niklasber··on Free HN: Entire First Section of “Linux for Hobbyists”
"a Raspberry Pi web scraper to control my apartment with my voice" - Huh..?
niklasber··on Worldwide DNS Performance
Agreed. Any plans on releasing this open source? Would be cool if others who are interested could set up country-by-country versions for Asia for example. Like one for Vietnam, Japan etc.
niklasber··on Nutiteq offline maps SDK for iOS and Android
The developer portal at https://developer.nutiteq.com mentions OpenStreetMap, but the start and product pages doesn't. No link either. Perhaps you provide more sources, I haven't looked into the product very carefully. Your support told me OSM is used as map data source, didn't mention any other source. My understanding of the OSM license agreement is that you have to make it more explicit. But I'm no lawyer.

"Our requested attribution is "© OpenStreetMap contributors". You must also make it clear that the data is available under the Open Database Licence. This can be achieved by providing a "License" or "Terms" link which links to www.openstreetmap.org/copyright or www.opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl."

Regardless whether required or not I think it'd be cool of you to mention it more explicitly since you're creating a business around it.

niklasber··on Nutiteq offline maps SDK for iOS and Android
Seems like no attribution is given to OpenStreetMap? That's not nice.

niklasber··on DuckDuckHack: Help us make the web a better place
The title "Open-source DuckDuckGo" is sadly very misleading, as only few selected parts are open source.
niklasber··on After 15 years as shareware, Ad Muncher is now completely free
Also thinking about this. Wouldn't it be a good idea to open source it and cut down on your staffs' working hours. Seems like you got a fairly big user base so there should be developers out there willing to contribute. Perhaps you could cut down on your costs and merge pull request from open source contributors.
niklasber··on After 15 years as shareware, Ad Muncher is now completely free
I don't mind free stuff, but to be honest I don't see why you release it for free. Seems like you had something sustainable going on. One person selling everything he owns to pay 3 persons' salaries don't seem sustainable.
niklasber··on Ask HN: How do I learn C and C++ when I love high-level languages?
You don't necessarily have to do low level stuff with C/C++. Sure you'll still be dealing with pointers etc, but my point is it doesn't have to be very low level just because it's C/C++. Depending on what you want to implement it might be a good idea to use a framework such as Qt. http://qt-project.org/
niklasber··on The Great Chinese Exodus
I misunderstood the writer, thought he/she meant anyone from anywhere in the world can get a Chinese passport. But meant Chinese citizens which is a totally different story. Still wouldn't call a country's border "wide-open" because the citizens can get a passport.
niklasber··on The Great Chinese Exodus
Stopped reading after this: "Today, China's borders are wide open. Almost anybody who wants a passport can get one."

Obviously poorly written article.

niklasber··on Ask HN: How to tell your friend his idea sucks
More than 100 persons have come to you with great ideas?
niklasber··on Show HN: My new JavaScript MVC framework
Why?
niklasber··on Show HN: My side project just reached #6 on App Store music charts
The quality of the screenshots on App Store is pretty poor. You should save them as PNG files instead.
niklasber··on Show HN: A simple IP address API
I created a Bash script using this service: https://github.com/niklasberglund/ipinfo
niklasber··on Show HN: Free screen recording Mac app that uploads while you record
Kinda bothers me that the demo video wasn't recorded using the software.
niklasber··on iMessage from Terminal
Would be nice if the Usage section was a bit beefed out. Now one either have to look at code or install it to find out how to specify a contact to send message to. Seems like good stuff though.
niklasber··on Show HN: ssh and cd get married
Any benefits with this over running something like this? Other than it being shorter and easier for someone not familiar with console commands?

  ssh -t yourserver.com 'cd /some/dir/;exec /bin/sh'
niklasber··on How in-app purchases have destroyed the game industry
The writer is ignorant and the article is nothing but a silly rant. No reasonable arguing. Makes me sad that this kind of articles can make it to #1 on HN.
niklasber··on How in-app purchases have destroyed the game industry
Don't people see that this is just a rant? The post is nothing but someone letting off some steam.
