nickthegreek··on X Didn't Fix Grok's 'Undressing' Problem. It Just Makes People Pay for It
why do you think that?
nickthegreek··on X Didn't Fix Grok's 'Undressing' Problem. It Just Makes People Pay for It
It’s even worse as the requestor doesn’t vet and approve the image. That seems to have removed editorial control from the requestor. This bot could also mess with user who are not trying to do bad thing X, but the black box bot decides to throw in some offputting stuff and then also associate your name with it.

I keep coming to the same conclusion with X as they did in the 80’s masterpiece War Games.

nickthegreek··on Texas court blocks Samsung from tracking TV viewing, then vacates order
Hooking up a streaming box is incredibly easy.
nickthegreek··on ICE's Tool to Monitor Phones in Neighborhoods
whenever this topic comes up, I like to point people to EFF's Rayhunter.

https://github.com/EFForg/rayhunter

> Rayhunter is a project for detecting IMSI catchers, also known as cell-site simulators or stingrays. It was first designed to run on a cheap mobile hotspot called the Orbic RC400L, but thanks to community efforts, it can support some other devices as well.

nickthegreek··on Chase to become new issuer of Apple Card
using normal card offers a reduced cashback of 1%.
nickthegreek··on ICE Is Going on a Surveillance Shopping Spree
A cop did not do this, an ice agent did. It might sound trivial, but it very much isn’t when it comes to prosecution in this circumstance.
nickthegreek··on A tab hoarder's journey to sanity
Love Zen's approach to tabs. I just wish that folders didnt have to live in the pinned area and could be down with all my junk tabs.
nickthegreek··on Firefox extension to redirect x.com to xcancel.com
that still gives X the impression though, which some are not to keen on.
nickthegreek··on A 30B Qwen model walks into a Raspberry Pi and runs in real time
you can use a physical button instead of wakeword.
nickthegreek··on Reddit Has Become the Internet's Strip Mall
Moderators are the invisible hand pruning the garden weeds. You might not always see them working, but they allow the space necessary for the good conversations to grow and thrive. Their absence would be felt quickly.
nickthegreek··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
I didn’t sneak anything in - you failed to follow a thread. Why are you trying to put that on me? It’s okay to admit fault and take responsibility. It is obvious at this point that you do not care or won’t take the time to understand the conversation or respond in good faith.

My concern covers all LEO fucking with American citizens, especially the masked and unidentified ones.

nickthegreek··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
> Besides, how realistic is a fear that a law abiding citizen would be endangered by the ICE?

Perhaps you are having trouble following the conversation. The argument put forth by OP is that ICE is endangering american citizens. That is factually true.

nickthegreek··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
> Supposedly there's been 500k deportations, and 2.5m "self-deportations" in 2025

I love how you get to use unconfirmed bullshit numbers in your argument but then demand an exact count for the opposition to mix with your nonsense.

nickthegreek··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Several law abiding citizens have been caught up in the ice dragnet. Pay attention.
nickthegreek··on What you need to know before touching a video file
It has never been very common for VLC to cause video corruption.
nickthegreek··on Dell's version of the DGX Spark fixes pain points
what workflow/models are you using for media generation?
nickthegreek··on I rebooted my social life
If you can throw money at it, you can offset attractiveness and to some degree, personality. Having a sweet home theater, indoor pool, or gaming room/bar can go a long way to creating an inviting environment for others.
nickthegreek··on The best things and stuff of 2025
The guy should take his own advice and publish to a private blog.
nickthegreek··on Librarians tired of being accused of hiding secret books that were made up by AI
In this case it does. I use that same spot next to eh lake to rest with my wife and watch the ducks and appreciate nature. But then you can into the public area, changed it and added furniture and even a fireplace! Treating it like private land owned by you and then you get upset when others use it. There is an inherent disrespect and narcissism in the example you provided.
nickthegreek··on Ask HN: What tech purchase did you regret even though reviews were great?
Same. I find it to be one of the best purchases I have ever made for myself tbh.
nickthegreek··on Ask HN: What tech purchase did you regret even though reviews were great?
the worst is that it doesn’t show up immediately, but after a second and it’s location is where I just went to tap to enter my thermostat, forcing me to exit back. I now try and just use the app via Apple Home for a better experience.
nickthegreek··on Ask HN: What tech purchase did you regret even though reviews were great?
Ecobee allows local control via Apple Home without using their app. It can also be integrated into Home Assistant with the help of the Homekit bridge addon.
nickthegreek··on Left Behind: Futurist Fetishists, Prepping and the Abandonment of Earth (2019)
Bonus points for the thin font on a textured background. Phenomenal mobile reading experience.
nickthegreek··on Stranger Things creator says turn off “garbage” settings
You have never seen a movie at 120fps. Gemini Man exists at 60fps and that is as close as you are going to get. That blu-ray is controversial due to that fps. I thought it was neat, but it 100% looks and feels different than other movies.
nickthegreek··on Stranger Things creator says turn off “garbage” settings
There is no evidence that people prefer high frame rate movies. Motion interpolation on TVs is set on by default, not a conscious choice the end user is making.
nickthegreek··on Stranger Things creator says turn off “garbage” settings
The cost of recording/storing 120fps video, and editing/rendering effects at this fps is costly and incredibly meaningful to take into account when creating movies.
nickthegreek··on When someone says they hate your product
The wild success of traffic lights comes from having 3 colors at fixed positions. You put those 3 colors in a single color changing light and I would assume the accident rate would measurably increase.
nickthegreek··on Some Epstein file redactions are being undone
The journalist should have used the LLM to explain how this wasn’t a hack but a common mistake made by untrained workers.
nickthegreek··on The EU's fine against X is not about speech or ‘censorship’
They have proved that they do not on several occasions.
nickthegreek··on I didn't realize my LG TV was spying on me until I turned off Live Plus
