nibbleshifter··on Study drugs make people worse at problem solving, not better
Never had any comedown off moda, even at high doses (400mg).

What comedown feelings did you experience?

nibbleshifter··on Aurora Store Accounts Blocked by Google
IIRC the devs are only supporting Pixel devices because they are at least vaguely sane.

Supporting random other devices would be a nightmare.

nibbleshifter··on PyPI Was Subpoenaed
> those doing supply chain attacks are often at least somewhat professional and take precautions.

Not really.

The vast majority of supply chain attacks in practice are idiots exploiting namespacing, bitflips, or typos on pypi/npm to drop miners or infostealers.

Yes, even the shit tier supply chain attacks count :)

nibbleshifter··on Popular Pirate Bay proxy site disappears from GitHub
They aren't.

They are talking about RIAA/MPAA. Who also are fashy cuntos.

nibbleshifter··on Home schooling can challenge our beliefs about education
That doesn't exist in my country, we have a tiny prison population.
nibbleshifter··on Home schooling can challenge our beliefs about education
Not really. In many cases it cripples the child's social development. Which is child abuse.
nibbleshifter··on European standards bodies are inaccessible to Open Source projects
Given the packages are inspected, anecdotally "non compliant" or infringing products aren't making it to the buyer at a MUCH higher rate than before.
nibbleshifter··on Windows XP Activation: Game Over
I've been meaning to replay FEAR sometime. Thanks for the reminder!
nibbleshifter··on European standards bodies are inaccessible to Open Source projects
Its not just French farmers who are subsidised though - farmers all across the EU avail of various subsidies, grants, etc.
nibbleshifter··on European standards bodies are inaccessible to Open Source projects
Customs in the EU have massively cracked down on imports from China in the last couple of years, with new regulations regarding import charges etc.

Every single package I've ordered since then across four different EU countries and multiple Chinese suppliers has resulted in it being held until a fee was paid.

Previously, stuff below a certain value was "free".

nibbleshifter··on Asahi Linux to Users: Please Stop Using X.org
None of those two groups you used even register as the majority among the "home Linux users" many of us know, so I was quite confused by your post.
nibbleshifter··on Asahi Linux to Users: Please Stop Using X.org
Did you literally just make up two categories of guys from thin air.
nibbleshifter··on IBM sued for age discrimination by former global software director
That can be somewhat fixed.

Not if your employer does drug tests though...

nibbleshifter··on Show HN: The Leica MPi: A Leica M2 with a Raspberry Pi-Powered Digital Sensor
How much effort was it to remove from the sensor? I've modified a number of cameras to remove that filter specifically for IR photography
nibbleshifter··on Show HN: The Leica MPi: A Leica M2 with a Raspberry Pi-Powered Digital Sensor
That filter he removed is the IR cut, I believe. Not an anti aliasing filter.

The magenta hue you see in the outdoor shots is characteristic of photos taken using a sensor with no IR blocking filter (also known as a hot mirror).

nibbleshifter··on YouTuber who staged plane crash faces up to 20 years jail
So much for the right to a speedy trial.

Did you get any recourse for this?

nibbleshifter··on Place mushrooms in sunlight to get your vitamin D (2012)
In much of the northern hemisphere for most of the year this is insufficient. Even a really long walk.
nibbleshifter··on Place mushrooms in sunlight to get your vitamin D (2012)
I've read most of his books/publications, his work is good (and generally reproducable), but he is somewhat prone to grand statements.

Thing is, a lot of labs will largely ignore fungi because they are fucking awkward to work with

nibbleshifter··on DIY-Thermocam: A low-cost thermal imager based on the FLIR Lepton sensor
Lepton sensors cucked because itar lol
nibbleshifter··on Preventing the use of SIM farms for fraud: consultation
I've found that policy trivial to circumvent in most EU countries I've visited (which is most of them).

Its also a stupid fucking policy.

nibbleshifter··on Preventing the use of SIM farms for fraud: consultation
This is a backdoor way they are trying to introduce mandatory SIM registration.
nibbleshifter··on How much can you earn creating content on Youtube?
> getting my ADHD under control using a modified nootropics approach.

I'm interested in reading about this

nibbleshifter··on The Untold Story of the Boldest Supply-Chain Hack Ever
Quite a few security companies will have back channels to the NSA. There's a revolving door between NSA and "cyber".

Same shit in the UK, some of the bigger consultancies have very cosy relationships with GCHQ.

nibbleshifter··on The Untold Story of the Boldest Supply-Chain Hack Ever
In a field as fast paced as information security, that is a long fucking time.
nibbleshifter··on The Untold Story of the Boldest Supply-Chain Hack Ever
It used to be fairly common practice for skilled hackers to patch the way they got in, to avoid their borrowed systems from being invaded by skids.
nibbleshifter··on The Untold Story of the Boldest Supply-Chain Hack Ever
At the time, attacks on healthcare were very much top of mind for everyone.
nibbleshifter··on Anonymous Tor Phone
The only downside is: extremely limited device support by design (ease of support).

Has tonnes of hardening though.

nibbleshifter··on A simple and eco-friendly way to make ammonia
Going from ammonia to nitrate is still a fairly hard step - there's much easier home lab ways to produce nitrates, including methods that solely use air and water.
nibbleshifter··on Rate The Landlord: Anonymously share information with tenants like you
Its the same in the UK. But many landlords aren't compliant with this, and enforcement varies
nibbleshifter··on Rate The Landlord: Anonymously share information with tenants like you
In the UK it was such a routine thing (landlord not giving your deposit back) that I just stopped paying the last months rent before moving out.

The UK does have a supposedly mandatory deposit protection scheme, but a lot of dodgy landlords aren't compliant with it, and the dispute process is a fucking nightmare.
