nerdbaggy··on The next big Wi-Fi standard is for sensing, not communication (2021)
Cisco has been doing something like this with Angle of Arrival with a 16 antenna array for the past few years. It’s pretty cool but only works in perfect setups, and the antennas need to be mounted above you.

nerdbaggy··on Approved Cameras
PRG is one of the biggest in the US for camera rentals, its rather unexciting. They have all the cameras, but for whatever reason most of them you have to specifically ask for. https://prggear.com/product-category/camera/camera-camera/ca...
nerdbaggy··on Indiana life insurance CEO says deaths are up 40% among people ages 18-64
Correct!

“ The synthetic and highly addictive drug has claimed more lives than COVID-19, auto crashes, gun violence, cancer and suicide in the year 2020.”

nerdbaggy··on A Plant That Sterilizes Medical Equipment Spews Cancer-Causing Pollution
Original title is “ A Plant That Sterilizes Medical Equipment Spews Cancer-Causing Pollution on Tens of Thousands of Schoolchildren” but it was to long to get approved.
nerdbaggy··on An update on 0day CVE-2021-43798: Grafana directory traversal

nerdbaggy··on Debunking Cloudflare’s recent performance tests
Cloudflare spectrum was what it was, has to dig up the emails. They wanted me to sign a 1 year contract with commit levels which is kinda hard with a growing product I was working on. I wasn’t even able to predict 1 month out let-alone 12.
nerdbaggy··on Debunking Cloudflare’s recent performance tests
My experience was with the UDP tunneling service and some general CDN stuff. Once you get past the published pricing then it’s sales calls and stuff like that.
nerdbaggy··on Debunking Cloudflare’s recent performance tests
Most of cloudflare features are locked behind sales, powerpoints, and a couple meetings.
nerdbaggy··on AWS Private 5G
This is fantastic, I wonder what the pricing will be. Cellular stuff is always expensive it seems.
nerdbaggy··on Chocolate from Bean to Bar
Rotten episode on Chocolate is really eye opening about the staggering amounts of slavery, child labor, and corruption in the chocolate industry. Basically every brand you can think of is in on it.

nerdbaggy··on The Secret Society of Lightning Strike Survivors
Did the sound break your ear drums and then stuff got in and started an infection?
nerdbaggy··on A bit of math around Cloudflare's R2 pricing model
I hope for enterprise customers it will allow pay as you go. We were really interesting in Spectrum and the price was in our range but having a contract for our current capacity for 1 year didn’t make sense. And our needed throughputs were very spikey. It didn’t make sense to pay for 3k concurrent users when our 80th percentile would be around 1k.
nerdbaggy··on FFmpeg to WebRTC
Hopefully WHIP takes off. It’s a standard protocol that would easily allow things to interface with WebRTC.

nerdbaggy··on Django 4.0 alpha 1 released
I run Hasura and Django. Django really excels at migrations and Django is nice to have a place to write admin views. For example a way to generate a report and manipulate the data in a way that is easy to use. No way to do that in Hasura.
nerdbaggy··on Cannabis use and myocardial infarction in young adults: a cross-sectional study
Sounds like why my heart beats faster when I drink
nerdbaggy··on Benefits of Not Using an IDE
I find Visual Studio auto complete 100x better then VS Code auto complete.
nerdbaggy··on Benefits of Not Using an IDE
He bashes VS Code at the end but that seems exactly what he wants. VS Code is more of a text editor then an IDE, and you can turn off all the “issues” he complains about.
nerdbaggy··on How Does FaceTime Work?
Here is a good write up on how the WebRTC implementation works for their new browser based calls. https://webrtchacks.com/facetime-finally-faces-webrtc-implem...
nerdbaggy··on UK High School top grades reach record high – with 44.8% getting A+ or A grades
I was raised that A and B were the only acceptable grades, C means you need to study more. But then I ended up dropping out of college so that wasn’t too helpful.
nerdbaggy··on Flawed data led to a connection between time spent on devices and mental health
Like the worse your mental health is the more you are on your phone?
nerdbaggy··on About 90% of Animators Quit Their Jobs Within 3 Years
Is it true that for TV shows a lot of the actual animation team is outsourced to countries with low income?
nerdbaggy··on Google “contemplated buying some or all of Epic” to stop “contagion”
What about the Amazon App Store? When I had Android years go the Amazon was rather abysmal but usable.

nerdbaggy··on Co-working with friends over video in virtual gather.town office
This sounds like a nightmare to me. Working for 16 hours, checking in with somebody every 30 min, only getting maybe 3x30 min break, telling people if I’m gone for more than 5 min, and just so much more. Seems like a great way to burn out.
nerdbaggy··on YouTube alternatives: P2P video hosting that uses up to 60% less bandwidth [pdf]
This is the idea behind theta token https://www.thetatoken.org/

Google is 1 of the sponsors, but I don’t think that means too much.

nerdbaggy··on Freenode is pointing irc.libera.net to chat.freenode.net

nerdbaggy··on Boring news cycle deals blow to partisan media
News now days is full of drama BS. It’s so fatiguing for me a t least
nerdbaggy··on Quad9 and Sony Music: German Injunction Status
I wonder if any legislation can make the root servers block things
nerdbaggy··on Hasura GraphQL Engine and SQL Server
It’s pretty cool how Hasura uses/abuses Postgres JSON support to be able to run many queries in the same “command”
