neop1x··on ChatGPT is adding real cartoonists' signatures to fake New Yorker cartoons
Apparently they just need an additional AI pass with a prompt to remove the signatures
neop1x··on Ollaya – Ollama for open-source, Jev-style decision models
There is also a small wrapper over an unmodified llamacpp binary which implements jev decision API on any llamacpp-supported model. It is different than Leya/Kime - raw label softmax, not calibrated! But can sometimes be enough I guess. https://github.com/NakliTechie/llamacpp-jev
neop1x··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
>> because I love Cloudflare

Sad to read. Do people in China also love CCP and the Great Firewall? I know CF is more than just that MITM proxy as a service but that's their main product.

neop1x··on Microsoft exec called AI scraping 'the largest theft of labor in human history'
No wonder LLMs are "better" every year. No juest scraping, they train on more and more data people send to them. So basically, it steals other people's data to sell back to you.
neop1x··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
Exactly this + websites transforming into SPAs, loading lots of JS chunks, displaying spinners and placeholders, 2FAs, login requests, captchas everywhere. Web browsing is now a very frustrating and time-wasting experience!
neop1x··on Hang on to Your Firefox
Take a look at about:performance page, maybe some background tab is too active?

Try some tab suspend extension like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-tab-disc...

neop1x··on Tell HN: Cloudflare silently injects its analytics when you switch nameservers
You are using MITM proxy as a service. In addition to analyzing all traffic and blocking legitimate users with captchas, they can inject stuff in there, too.
neop1x··on The UK's war on anonymity has come to America
It's not only about blocking access to porn websites but children can access whatsapp groups where child predators are. Why can children access this content in those communication apps? It sounds like providers of these platforms must prevent children accessing those becquse children need to use such platforms to coordinate on their assignments and homeworks. This can be solved by having a "children-type" device account as someone else suggested. The app would know a child is using it and block access. No government id needed.
neop1x··on Docker Sandboxes – Disposable, isolated sandboxes for AI agents
On Linux I am using https://github.com/wrr/drop which configures bubblewrap based on a simple yaml config specific for the project path and it is enough for me.

I won't use anything requiring a login.

neop1x··on How I use LLMs to learn complex topics
Or you could have just opened an existing Intel pdf brochure which explains it with more intuitive illustrations (the search took me 2 minutes and it consumed a fraction of energy) https://download.intel.com/newsroom/kits/chipmaking/pdfs/San...
neop1x··on Cloudflare OS: an open platform for agents, apps, and work
Two different things. Qubes is an OS, while this is not.
neop1x··on Cloudflare OS: an open platform for agents, apps, and work
It's such a bad decision. It just creates more confusion.
neop1x··on Karpathy’s Pelican
Thanks. Your result is what I would expect - nice stuff, but far from what he supposedly "casually" generated.
neop1x··on Google will expand age checks on Android worldwide till the end of the year
Will this prevent children from using Whatsapp, Messenger, Telegram and similar because this is where "dangerous" content is being shared. How will children communicate and cooperate on school assignments if those are blocked? Will only plain/text SMS be allowed to be used by children? What if someone texts them and offers money if they meet with a stranger. Maybe it's time to age-block SMS app too. Or maybe children should not use any smartphones. Or maybe they should use a special "android for children" where only a school approved apps can be run. I don't think this age API and age verification is needed!
neop1x··on So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe
Same here. I can't stand the new Reddit. It spins up fans on my $3500 laptop, freezes and loads very slow. Once the old one stops working, I will have to stop using it.
neop1x··on LG to ban residential proxies from smart TV apps
There have been a huge progress in this regard! New OLEDs don't burn out like those early generations.
neop1x··on I tricked Claude into leaking your deepest, darkest secrets
It's easy but very inconvenient. Drop sandbox [1] or Docker are much more convenient alternatives to user/group isolation for this purpose.

neop1x··on Modern decor may be straining people's brains
Lightning is VERY important. What I like is cove lightning - led strips near ceiling, reflected from the white ceiling. And it is also good to have multiple lightning sources - dimer and slightly warmer to use towards the end of day (sunset) and red (or at least warm) for the night out near floor (like a a fireplace at night). Helps maintain natural circadian rhythms and easier sleep.
neop1x··on John Deere owners will get the right to repair equipment under FTC settlement
LOL, that's funny
neop1x··on PlayStation Is Deleting 551 Movies from Customers' Accounts
Yes, it is very comfusing. "Buy" buttons should be replaced by "License" buttons when you are licensing stuff instead of buyimg it. There should be a law for that.
neop1x··on Windows 11 New Media Player Uses 3.5x More RAM, Charges for Popular Video Codecs
I have been using mpv on MacOS too. I just had to create an app bundle for it a very simple swift wrapper which just runs mpv command...
neop1x··on Google workspace threatening to block Firefox access
Happens to me too. They are probably able to infer it is not a Chrome from the TLS handshake or they run their javascript fingerprinting and found out that the browser didn't have some Chrome features or behaved differently.

Sadly, it is much more difficult to pretend being on a different browser than it was in the past. :/

neop1x··on AWS Bedrock to require sharing data with Anthropic for Mythos and future models
Everything is distillation prevention and children protection, of course!
neop1x··on Microsoft's open source tools were hacked to steal passwords of AI developers
And the next step will be to lock the bootloader to prevent any unsigned OSes like linux to protect children.
neop1x··on macOS Container Machines
A lot of devs needs to use linux but they still use it just as a VM (Mac) or in some kind emulation (WSL). How pathetic.
neop1x··on Cloudflare Turnstile requiring fingerprintable WebGL
Just implement caches, add indices to your DBs, use CDNs. Servers are very fast nowadays, have quite a lot of RAM and can handle huge amount of clients. No need to implement this anti-bot bullshit, it is mainly marketing, providing solutions to a problem which doesn't exist for most websites.
neop1x··on Cloudflare Turnstile requiring fingerprintable WebGL
It is very similar to kernel modules for game anti-cheats. Soon, websites will work on unmodified Windows and Mac computers only, with a signed cloudflare kernel driver installed. :/ They are completrly destroying the web.
neop1x··on Please Use AI
It also feels like stealing. You prompted it but the result is not yours. Likely also because AI was trained on data stolen from others.
neop1x··on The dead economy theory
Sadly they were allowed to acquire WhatsApp even though they already had their Messenger. Meta did it to devour their competition. Even today, lots of people still don't know that whatsapp is owned by Meta.
neop1x··on Ferrari Luce
Actually I think Tesla S looked better than this and the bar was pretty low.
