nelsonfigueroa··on Code Execution Through Email: How I Used Claude to Hack Itself
I don’t see any myself, unless they quickly fixed it after your comment
nelsonfigueroa··on Code execution through email: How I used Claude to hack itself
I would say company blogs are basically just ads
nelsonfigueroa··on Bitchat – A decentralized messaging app that works over Bluetooth mesh networks
Yeah I noticed this too! The profile picture looked familiar.
nelsonfigueroa··on Man 'refused entry into US' as border control catch him with bald JD Vance meme
Jeez...is the current administration that sensitive to criticism? I wonder if this comment will come back to haunt me some day.
nelsonfigueroa··on LeetCode for System Design
I have a lot of feedback.

No links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

No way to preview without signing in.

Only way to sign in is with Google.

"Trusted by engineers landing jobs at" ...given how new this is, is this line marketing fluff or is there evidence that engineers actually trust LeetSys?

Finally, I'm worried that this will make system design interviews as miserable as coding interviews.

nelsonfigueroa··on Timescale Is Now TigerData
well at least they didn't append "AI" to their name
nelsonfigueroa··on Ask HN: Have you not accepted or left a job because it was immoral?
Not exactly rejected a job since I didn't have a hard offer, but every time Facebook/Meta recruiters want to talk to me about job opportunities I turn them down.
nelsonfigueroa··on Domains I Love
`n.pr` is neat. I had no idea that existed.
nelsonfigueroa··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (June 2025)
Location: Los Angeles, California, USA

Remote: Remote preferred, I'm ok with going into an office a few times a week if it's nearby.

Willing to relocate: If I really like your company, yes.

Technologies: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Pulumi, Ruby, Rails, Python, Bash, Go, HTML, CSS, MySQL, PostgreSQL.

Résumé/CV: Check out LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nelsonfigueroa1/, or my personal site: https://nelson.cloud. Happy to send over a PDF via LinkedIn as well.

Email: nelsonfigueroa07@gmail.com

I would describe myself as a mid-level engineer with Infrastructure/Cloud and Backend experience. My current role isn't as technical as I'd like it to be so I'm looking around.

nelsonfigueroa··on Why I Am Not Going to Buy a Computer (1987) [pdf]
This. I even see more professional pages (personal technical blogs, corporate technical blogs) use text and images that are straight up AI slop.

nelsonfigueroa··on The Problem with Modern Engineering Isn't Speed. It's Chaos
Yep. Generally speaking, I think that blog posts under company domains are just advertisements.
nelsonfigueroa··on Basic Income Pilot Project: Study results
> Who in their right mind wants that?

Those living in poverty. Speaking from personal experience.

> UBI just means signing your soul away to the state, who then can mandate your lifestyle completely including health procedures and even military conscription.

The state can already do this without UBI.

Not saying UBI is flawless though.

nelsonfigueroa··on Search My Site – open-source search engine for personal and independent websites
This is awesome. I love anything that helps me discover new personal sites/blogs.
nelsonfigueroa··on Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting
This is a very shallow take
nelsonfigueroa··on Trick to find commands in the terminal quickly
+1 for `fzf`. And if you're using Oh My Zsh then check out fzf-zsh-plugin: https://github.com/unixorn/fzf-zsh-plugin
nelsonfigueroa··on Trick to find commands in the terminal quickly
Never heard of atuin but it looks awesome. I'm going to try it out.
nelsonfigueroa··on The Art of Dithering and Retro Shading for the Web (2024)
Aside from the interesting read, I really like the design of this site. Specially the code blocks.
nelsonfigueroa··on BlogScroll – An open directory of personal sites and blogs
I remember discovering minifeed.net not too long ago here on HN. Cool project! I like how you show related posts from other blogs when viewing an item. It's nice for discovering new blogs.
nelsonfigueroa··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
Fair point. You can't know for sure that I don't use LLMs for my blog. I think it would be obvious it's a real human being if you read a few blog posts.
nelsonfigueroa··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
Yeah exactly!
nelsonfigueroa··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
Agreed. I still think it's cool from a technology point of view. But it doesn't inspire confidence when I see these generative images in blogs/articles.
nelsonfigueroa··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
I am just expressing my hatred for AI-generated images. I am not pandering to anyone.
nelsonfigueroa··on Show HN: Spotify and Apple Health data as art
You can turn off imperial units in settings > account preferences
nelsonfigueroa··on Show HN: Artemis, a Calm Web Reader
I added one of the random RSS feeds from https://indieblog.page/rss. I’ve discovered cool blogs this way that I now subscribe to directly.
nelsonfigueroa··on Nyxt: The Hacker's Browser
The tree based history feature is amazing
nelsonfigueroa··on The average age of U.S. homebuyers jumps to 56
I thought I would have a house in my 20s. Then I thought maybe by the time I was in my 30s. Now I’m in my 30s and I have no idea when I’ll buy a house, if ever.
nelsonfigueroa··on Tesla removed climate manifesto (and other planned goals) from website
Well if it’s between making money or fighting climate change, I think every company would choose the former.
nelsonfigueroa··on Leaving Neovim for Zed
I like Zed too and use it on a daily basis. I've always wanted to take the opposite journey where I leave Zed/Sublime for Vim. While I have always to become a Vim expert, I never put in the time. There just hasn't been a situation in my career where I wish I could type faster than my thoughts. But maybe I'm just a scrub in this field.
