nebyoolae··on Ask HN: Do you still bookmark websites?
I have browser bookmarks for things I go to frequently, but occasionally need to prune them due to actual disuse. For everything else, I used to use Pocket, but then switched to a self-hosted Wallabag interface. The UI could use a little tweaking, but it works for my purposes. There’re browser extensions to save stuff and even a decent iOS app.

That being said, I have the common problem of forgetting to actually read any of it later. I’ll have sessions where I go through it once or twice a month, cleaning out the “inbox”, but I have so many starred links I’ll probably never go back to, so I have to wonder sometimes: what’s the point?

nebyoolae··on Show HN: I made crowdwave – imagine Twitter/Reddit but every post is a voicemail
There is something strangely compelling, to crib from another commenter, about this site, its throwback UI, and general “this seems like a good idea even if no one really uses it”actually potentially useful art-piece-ness.

I tried both recording something on the site and uploading a file (all from an iPhone), but neither worked.

Regardless, kudos on this project. Hope Bob gets his milk.

nebyoolae··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
https://michaelchadwick.info/blog

I’m a programmer and audio person, so my blog is largely about my projects relating to those things.

nebyoolae··on Show HN: Hyperfocused – launch and arrange apps across multiple monitors
I love the idea of this app! Can it set up apps across Spaces?
nebyoolae··on Show HN: The One Thing Well blog has resumed posting after a ~3y sabbatical
I’ve always loved this blog and definitely have found many useful tools from it. So glad it’s back. And it’s even on Mastodon now(?)!
nebyoolae··on Pure Data: an open source visual language for multimedia
I also learned about pd from the man himself back in college. When did you attend?
nebyoolae··on It's quite hard to lose a Duolingo streak
I really like this thought. Thanks for sharing.
nebyoolae··on Show HN: Little Faker – Simple Lorem Ipsum macOS App
Awesome little utility. Does what it says, and does it well. Nice job.
nebyoolae··on Ask HN: What did you work on in 2017?
As a programmer with a young child who loves screens, this is a lovely idea.
nebyoolae··on Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks?
I do still use bookmarks, but only for places I go a lot, and I sync them via Chrome. Pocket is a godsend for the "cool links" that I check out when I have time and then usually archive away, never to look at again.
nebyoolae··on Termtris: A Game Like Tetris in Ten Functions
This is a great little game and the documentation is amazing.
nebyoolae··on I banned email at my startup
The title is somewhat misleading (it's catchy, though), but I agree with your points and think that while email is still a great catch-all communication tool, there are better ones when you're actually trying to work in a team on many projects.
nebyoolae··on How Lita.io uses the RubyGems and rubygems.org APIs
Excellent explanation of your process.
nebyoolae··on Ask HN: How does the HN "More" link work?
I have also gotten expired link errors, too, and it's kind of jarring. I don't know of any other site that does its paging in this way, and I'm not sure of the advantage of doing it this way. All I experience is a reading session that can't be left alone for some arbitrary amount of time lest I lose my place.
