nc··on Launch HN: machine0 (YC S26) – Persistent CPU and GPU VMs from the CLI
I’m currently using Modal for my GPU training workload, how does this differ?
nc··on Show HN: machine0 – Persistent NixOS VMs You Control from the CLI
I’ve been using machine0 for hosting openclaw and a couple of web apps i’ve been working on. Great product super easy to use with claude code.
nc··on Tell HN: Anthropic no longer allowing Claude Code subscriptions to use OpenClaw
It runs on pi, not claude -p
nc··on Create value for others and don’t worry about the returns
It is a social construct but if you just print money you get ... inflation. You can't just increase money supply to redistribute wealth without consequences.
nc··on Facebook is cooked
It's your feed.

Everyones feed is different.

It depends on how much you train the algorithm.

Yours is untrained, therefore slop.

nc··on Show HN: WalletWallet – create Apple passes from anything
Pretty useful, just used it to make a "Business Card" that links to my LinkedIn profile.
nc··on Meta is axing 600 roles across its AI division
This seems like the most likely explanation. Legacy AI out in favour of LLM focused AI. Also perhaps some cleaning out of the old guard and middle management while they're at it.
nc··on Cloudflare Sandbox SDK
You can in Cloudflare containers
nc··on Apple M5 chip
Asahi linux is making great progress. The only thing they have left to make it a truly capable linux environment is USB-C external display support. Once that lands I plan to use my M-series mac as a Linux machine.
nc··on Two things LLM coding agents are still bad at
Add to this list, ability to verify correct implementation by viewing a user interface, and taking a holistic code-base / interface-wide view of how to best implement something.
nc··on Vibe engineering
Pretty negative take, TV and Radio also exploit human attention in your book?

Technology wise they created React, PyTorch, GraphQL and Llama is open weights.

nc··on Vibe engineering
Meta has a 1.79T market cap, they definitely solved some very real problems to get there.

There are lots of companies doing well producing high quality products out of the gate today though, look at Linear.

Both approaches are valid for building sustainable enduring businesses.

nc··on Launch HN: Webhound (YC S23) – Research agent that builds datasets from the web
Pretty cool, how does it compare to Parallel?
nc··on Show HN: Director – Local first, open source MCP Gateway
Just tried it out. Easiest way to use MCP. Nice work!
nc··on Ask HN: Dear Product Managers – How do you use LLM's in your day to day work?
I use it to critique PRDs and also for research (e.g. tell me how this API works and does it support this use-case).

It is nowhere close to replacing a PM (sorry to the all the hypistas bigging it up) but it's quite helpful as an aide.

nc··on Acquisitions, consolidation, and innovation in AI
One thing this article gets wrong is how OpenAI isn’t an application layer company, they built the original ChatGPT “app” with model innovation to power it. They’re good at UX and actually have the strongest shot at owning the most common apps (like codegen).
nc··on Buy European Made. Support European Values
How is US dependency a risk?
nc··on Sid Meier's Civilization VII
Probably the best turn based strategy game out there. Spent a few hours on this latest edition over the weekend has all the same core mechanics as 6 with a new ages system. Feels pretty fun so far!
nc··on More men are addicted to the 'crack cocaine' of the stock market
The boring thing being buy and hold?
nc··on Litestack: All your data infrastructure, in one Ruby gem
Looks fantastic!
nc··on America Is Suddenly Getting Healthier. No One Knows Why.
Instagram
nc··on Falcon 40B LLM (which beats Llama) now Apache 2.0
It would as open source improvements would start to exceed performance of 3.5 for specific use-cases. At the very least they would have to make it fine-tunable.
nc··on Experimental library for scraping websites using OpenAI's GPT API
It's probably NP complete.
nc··on Ask HN: Is TypeScript worth it?
One pitfall i've found with TypeScript is getting too clever with type definitions. Too much abstraction can end up eating up a lot of time (especially with a large team). This happens because as you say, the error messages are verbose and hard to follow.

Once we started keeping our type definitions small and simple we've found it's hugely beneficial.

nc··on Freeform: a new app designed for creative collaboration
Yeah it makes a great demo! But perhaps they also looked at the success of Miro & Figjam and realised a whiteboard is an essential part of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote suite?
nc··on Freeform: a new app designed for creative collaboration
Whiteboarding tools are used heavily by students in group projects. Students of today, are workers of tomorrow. So over time it will eat into Miro's userbase. But as with any Apple product since they won't make customisations/features for Enterprise it will never get that far.
nc··on Freeform: a new app designed for creative collaboration
That's because Miro sets the text size relative to the current zoom level... with even a small number of people it suddenly starts to look like a mess.

FigJam and I believe Freeform don't do this. It's insane how Miro scaled so effectively with base UX issues like this.

nc··on If it isn't going to work, just shut it down
I'm assuming basic competence in other areas, product/eng/sales/design etc. if you don't have that AND you don't have a clear idea/insight, then certainly it will be hard to succeed.
