Same, I used to make flash games back in the days and even ventured into Adobe AIR :)
napolux··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2023)
not only that, also the people I spoke to and the feedback loop :)
napolux··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2023)
This can get more luck in the other thread :)
napolux··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2023)
I applied a couple years ago, I can confirm their hiring process is one of the best around.

Any backoff period in place?

napolux··on Earth’s innermost layer is a 644 kilometer wide ball of iron, new study finds

napolux··on Ask HN: What should companies be doing with all their empty office space?
Social coworking. A space where for a monthly subscription people can study, work, surf the internet with their computers and socialize. A place for meetups, hackatons, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, art, etc...

Like a library or a gym, but for your mind.

And if there's already a gym, bingo!

This is for a full building, but you can also do something social for many smaller places.

napolux··on Apple orders entire supply of TSMC's 3nm chips for iPhone 15 Pro and M3 Macs
> We're you around for the 6+ and 6s+?

yep, but I bought it late in its lifecycle

> Saying that the launch failed because it had such a long wait time (assuming due to popular demand) has a sort of Yogi Berra quality that I appreciate. He was the one who said, "No one goes there anymore; it's too crowded".

Do we really know what happened? Lack of silicon? high demand? logistic fails?

napolux··on Apple orders entire supply of TSMC's 3nm chips for iPhone 15 Pro and M3 Macs
Considering how failed was the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro (I had to wait for 45 dayss before getting mine) and sales of the "iPhone 14" (which is just an iPhone 13, basically) this is just expected
napolux··on CheatGPT
yep, i had the very same “stackoverflow dejavu” feeling
napolux··on CheatGPT
Did a try with ChatGPT asking to write a react hook doing something really basic.

Code was ok, as expected.

I asked to write tests for it, code looked good but it won’t run for some act() errors.

Then it was mocking network calls…

After trying for a while I had to write tests myself

napolux··on “The McKinseys and the Deloittes have no expertise in areas they’re advising in”
I guess that’s part of their business: make who hire them believe that they are experts
napolux··on Ask HN: Why did medium.com "fail"?
the sketchy SEO tactics(at least at the beginning), invasive paywalls, clickbaiting, etc…

medium was doomed from the start. but being myself a detractor from the start i’m probably too much biased

Super random question... I wonder if the name is related to Frank Matano, the italian youtuber/comedian.

Good. Guess why PayPal after leaving eBay wasn't moving on Amazon.

Maybe they were doing enough money already :)

napolux··on Tesla drops prices up to 20 percent in attempt to drive sales
Also happening in Italy, so I guess it's not only about US gov.

napolux··on ChatGPT Can't Kill Anything Worth Preserving
That's a good idea for a side project, thx!
napolux··on NYC Slice
Same quality decline is happening in Italy. We're seeing also a polarization, at least in the north, where I live.

On one side "very bad pizza, low/avg price", on the other side "very good pizza, higher prices".

All the middle, average pizza places with reasonable prices are going out of business or moving to the the bad side.

This "killed" Gemini from the start

napolux··on Kristall – a browser without support for CSS/JS/WASM or graphical websites
HN is the only place on the Internet where I hear about Gemini. Excluding Gemini itself.

I'm all in for a simpler Internet, but on HTTP(S), with images and other media if needed
