> Some cable modems (often based on the Broadcom chipset) expose a 'Spectrum Analyzer' interface on port 8080.
I had no idea this was a thing, but it turns out to exist on the SB6183 (http://192.168.100.1:8080/), though doesn't support Firefox for some reason.
Florida, which has fairly broad open records laws, at least makes this extremely clear:

> Any agency, as defined in s. 119.011, or legislative entity that operates a website and uses electronic mail shall post the following statement in a conspicuous location on its website:
> Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.

> For example, if the LMS offers the ability to save the checkout history, this should be an opt-in feature not turned on as a default.
The policy also recommends libraries minimize collection of data in general, use HTTPS whenever possible, and maintain a warrant canary.

Really? That's too bad - I had to replace the fan on my Lenovo T500 some years back (~2011) and they had sent one overnight-by-10:30 (and it was pretty inexpensive, too). It certainly made an impression.
I guess back then IBM still ran the parts and service business, even though Lenovo had taken over the manufacturing and marketing several years before.
According to The Verge, a web interface is coming soon (presumably as a result of development effort being redirected from Allo to Messages)
> So expect a couple things to happen on the app front. First, Google will finally make a desktop web interface for texting
There's a screenshot in this article (about half-way down; if you're lucky this link will take you to it):

That is a reasonable consideration, but Google is very specific about how they use and retain data collected by Google Public DNS. Assuming they are not lying, I don't think it's a significant concern. (Admittedly, their policy is not as good as Cloudflare's "no IP logging" policy.)

TL;DR: Logs with IP addresses are deleted within 48 hours; permanent logs keep city-level location data, but no personally identifiable information. "We don't correlate or combine information from our temporary or permanent logs with any personal information that you have provided Google for other services."
You could argue that "adding a browser keybinding" should be a separate API. You're not wrong (I'd love an extension like this to replace Ctrl+Q with Ctrl+Shift+Q), but browser vendors (at least Mozilla) seem to be very reluctant to add more APIs.
I was going to mention how I've been confused by people having overreactions like "it's just an extension to rewrite 'millenials' to 'snake people', why is it stealing all of my data?", equating the permission to read data from webpages with an implication that it will steal all your data. This never made much sense to me, since it seemed obvious to me that the required permissions for those things would have to be the same. In light of the Cambridge Analytica situation, though, I realize these fears were very well-founded.
17 U.S. Code § 120(a): "The copyright in an architectural work that has been constructed does not include the right to prevent the making, distributing, or public display of pictures, paintings, photographs, or other pictorial representations of the work, if the building in which the work is embodied is located in or ordinarily visible from a public place."

There is, however, an exception for secret military installations in 18 U.S. Code § 795: "[...] certain vital military and naval installations or equipment as requiring protection against the general dissemination of information relative thereto, it shall be unlawful to make any photograph [...]"

It's not clear to me that this document has been updated to reflect this release. Windows 10 Mobile is the successor to Windows Phone 8.1, while the article suggests that this product might better described as "Windows 10 for desktop editions ARM".
From The Verge: "HP and Asus' devices will include Windows 10 S, designed to only run apps from the Windows Store, but users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro free of charge (for now) to get access to the full desktop apps." https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/5/16737288/microsoft-window...
Also, I find it very disappointing that they removed portfolios and portfolio downloads without telling anybody in advance so that they could download their portfolios beforehand. (Edit: apparently https://finance.google.com/ is still available separately, for a short time)
